it's never been a terribly complex weapon, guard points aren't some mystical knowledge that's hard to grasp, the moveset is pretty straightforward, shield thrusts let you chain easily, it's really mobile, etc. I'm not saying it's bad or that it lacks nuance, but it's not as involved as like gunlance or insect glaive which require knowledge about different types of weapons or shelling, raising kinsects, moveset with longer commitment etc

I mostly stick with Lance or Greatsword. But Greatsword often leads me to getting shit on. And Lance I struggle to kill anything with follow up or explosion type attacks. Like Lagi or Gore Magala. Because blocking them is just not that viable.

Do I need my health to be above or before the indicator on the health bar to survive an attack while wearing the Rey Dau Y set? I don't think I've ever seen it proc, but I haven't carted in a while. I'm not sure if I should be letting chip damage lower me to under the indicator to get the Guts activation or if it only activates if I cart from a big hit while having more health than the indicator.

I just picked up hammer, what are my most important combos and offset options?
The offsets seem kind of difficult to use since you either have to go from a level 2 charge that needs to coincide with an attack or upswing is the third hit in a combo. Seems very awkward to have your "parry" that you need to time well stuck behind build-up unlike with the SA and GS where you can access it immediately even though GS requires a little bit of windup.

"Friction" in my mind is stuff like needing to find monsters or resources in a map. Not having their location called out immediately with a waypoint on them makes players interact with and learn the maps. "Hunt" is too strong a word and I guess World's track sniffing was a compromise to make it possible for the dipshits that got confused by maps easily and just gave them a waypoint, but doing something with any amount of adversity that is overcome with knowledge is a good thing because it's rewarding. it feels good to see a marked increase in skill with something as simple as leaving behind a map in supply box or immediately knowing where a monster is going when it leaves an area.
It's kind of baffling to me because the move away from instanced areas and to always visible interconnected areas means that you can physically see where the monster is going and where it stops. With proper sight lines, you would be able to just get up high and see a monster to track it or whatever, which seems like a slam dunk for Wilds' IMMERSION, but they hamstring it by giving you an autorun bird and marking everything without even needing to find it first.
