it's never been a terribly complex weapon, guard points aren't some mystical knowledge that's hard to grasp, the moveset is pretty straightforward, shield thrusts let you chain easily, it's really mobile, etc. I'm not saying it's bad or that it lacks nuance, but it's not as involved as like gunlance or insect glaive which require knowledge about different types of weapons or shelling, raising kinsects, moveset with longer commitment etc

Except I've been playing Monster Hunter for even longer. Bashing my head against a wall over and over and over again until I finally win or just caving and calling for help.

I mostly stick with Lance or Greatsword. But Greatsword often leads me to getting shit on. And Lance I struggle to kill anything with follow up or explosion type attacks. Like Lagi or Gore Magala. Because blocking them is just not that viable.

I think he’s perfect as is. Chatacabra is basically a punching bag to test out weapons, while Arkveld has a balanced set of fast and telegraphed moves to properly improve your own skills with that weapon.

Capcom genuinely seems too retarded to ever optimize this game to an acceptable degree and while their fixes towards difficulty are getting better they'll never do the smart thing and retroactively fix the base game. The “weird” mechanic is that you use specific ores to further reinforce the artian weapons. The reinforcements are dependent on seeded RNG, meaning your odds are predetermined and you will need to roll multiple times to get what you want.

It's the first time in years it's not utter ass. It lasts for 2.5 seconds instead of wearing off after your first swing. The primary way of doing damage to Lagi underwater, in my experience, should be dropping rocks and clutch clawing the glowing focus zones after his attacks. You get an auto stagger to get attacks in if you clutch his face after the double lightning breath attack or clutch his back after Khezu shock.
