Definitely try it out, it's actually only about 6gb. It's a sidegrade in that there are definitely improvements but it's still very buggy. If you're not happy with the base game then get on the SU3 beta and see how that goes, the performance is better on it.

Talking about Nuclear Option, i have a weird bug. Already reported it on the discord, i've seen nobody complaining about something similar, but who knows.
My throttle acts "jittery" when around the designated 0%. Like what you'd experience playing a game with very low refresh rate. Its not hardware, i tried multiple throttles. Also when i go into "calibrate" its smooth all the way, only the actual vehicle's throttle suffers from this. I tried older versions of the game, 0.28.9 doesn't suffer from this.
I tried cutting almost all other programs, nothing seem'd to make a difference. I don't wanna reinstall windows just to find out the bug is still there, so for now i just moved the 0% to the physical 50% of the throttle, its not nearly as annoying as not being able to properly put the engines at 0%, but still triggers my autism.
See the clip. Top 50% is smooth as butter. Bottom 50% jittery as fuck.

Yeah me neither, its a weird bug as, like i said, its not hardware and the game itself seems to properly recognize the input (perfectly smooth in the calibrate screen) and i cannot seem to find someone else with a similar problem. I'm very tempted to reinstall windows. But if the bug is still there i'm gonna be fucking mad.
I've complained that my throttle was borked in the last thread because it seriously looked like a fucky potentiometer. But i was wrong, its really the game.

They are excellent; incredibly smooth and rigid. Coming from a pair of Saitek pedals with about 600 hours on them, the difference in feel is like going from the cranks on a worn out cruiser bike to the cranks on a high end mountain bike. Also the dampener feels great on both fixed wings and helis. Only issue is that the stock grippers on the base slide a bit on carpet, but I just glued some regular furniture grippers on the bottom and it solved it completely.

They figured out that they were built from leftover airframes from the early 90's, which wouldn't be a problem if the Russians didn't say they were brand new production and asking brand new production prices for them.

Does anyone have experience with that? Would you recommend it to someone who's interested enough in the game to want to give it a try for a few weeks but not interested enough yet to shell out money for a HOTAS.
I guess buying the cheapest HOTAS possible second hand could be an option to, but that sounds like a waste of money since if I do end up sticking with flight sims I'd prefer to get a halfway decent one

Here's the cursed tech people don't want you to know, you can play DCS with a keyboard. I used to do it precisely for this reason. I even did it with Spitfire which is extra twitchy, and there was a transition period to HOTAS where I legitimately was better with the keyboard because I spent time with it. But this is forbidden knowledge so now we both must pretend we never spoke about this.

There are user made Xbox controller profiles for almost every aircraft on the ED website, that way you can save a lot of time setting it up and it comes with a handy image that points out what button does what. Only issue is that there will probably be a modifier button or two on every profile depending on how complicated the aircraft is. Probably the key thing is getting the expo curve for the stick inputs since you are going to have such tiny throws compared to a real joystick.

Marketplace version has weapons but they don't fire, if you get it off the Blackbird website they'll work though I'm not sure how well. AzurPoly's Jaguar's weaponry for example is actually usable in that you drop a bomb and it will explode upon impact, which is impressive for a game not made for that. I wonder if we'll get something like TacPack for MSFS in the future.

Fair enough, train sim dlc can add up because say you want to buy a line or a scenario pack, it'll often need a load of rolling stock to use on it, so that's more to buy, but even then it doesn't compare to flightsim. Train Sim Classic has so much dlc it's not even listed properly, over 700 different ones, probably costing thousands. The Sims 4 amusingly has nearly a grand's worth of dlc too kek.

I actually think things have changed a lot with MSFS since the FSX days where you'd have to buy a load of addons not to make the game look terrible, now it's mostly just planes and airports (which are overpriced who the fuck spends £30 on an airport?)

Airport value seems like it'd vary dramatically from person to person
Those people who fly the same airliner route back and forth every day probably think it's a good deal to make two specific airports look good
Meanwhile I'm always flying new places and buying scenery for every single place I go would be absurd

I know, it was a major selling point for 2024, and the majority of people playing 2024 apparently are in career mode, but I don't really understand why. The gamey side of it becomes irrelevant after a while, I'm level 50+ in American Truck Simulator for example and just do jobs to play the game, I don't care about the money or building up a fleet, it becomes pointless at a certain stage. In terms of people not being able to think of things to fly and do, I find that weird with how large the planet is and how many different planes there are to fly.

I do like the sound of the search and rescue and firefighting missions, Asobo did say they might have missions outside the career mode in the future, because they wanted to force normies to do flight training.

NTA, but I'm having trouble too in Breakout. After way too many hours I managed to find a way to reliably kill the first two ships enforcing the blockade, with a Chicane loaded to the brim with AGM-48 and lynchpins, but what comes next is way too much for me to handle. I tried spamming AShM and ARAD and they get all fucking intercepted. Fucking hell what a nigga has to do to touch those damn ships? I even tried with a Medusa, targeting the foremost ships and then jamming them, just to get greeted by an ASH and my missiles still getting intercepted. Other missions at least allow you *some* space of maneuver, even if the dumb ass friendly AI decides to smash into the ground for no good reason.

I have yet to get one nuke through any AD, while my AF got multi-nuked, though the aircraft shelters survived somehow despite being at ground zero and was still usable afterwards, so that was hilarious. Also, it seems to me that Chicane is the meta: you can exploit ground to stay below radar, remove any and all ground units with impunity, and shrug off all IR thanks to the low heat emissions. Cricket too is good for this, but considering the stupid amount of lynchpins the Chicane can carry I don't see why ever choosing the Cricket. Every other aircraft gets targeted by a gorillion SARH the moment it takes off, all their munitions get intercepted always. I even tried with a Darkreach, taking the time to climb up to 10km, and still got clapped. It's very frustrating.

After sinking too much time in NO I say it's a great game, but I don't feel the stakes: it's fun to fly around and do the ace combat dance, but throwing aircrafts (and pilots) at the enemy doesn't feel like much after the initial phase, and nuking someone doesn't have any gravitas at all. you run the plant from the control room by doing minigames, have a certain amount of power to produce every day
earn points to unlock helpers that do the minigames for you
once all posts are filled the door unlock to the rest of the plant
and then game turns into 2D horror

I've already fucked up the sodium hydroxide tank by putting a bit of boric acid in it and it'd cost 100 grand to decontaminate it, meaning I can't use ion exchange for boron dosing, I have to add it to the primary loop meaning I need to remember to leave room for it and then adjust the filter pump speed to improve reactor stability. Imagine you win a competition and get to be a passenger in a 346 on a flight, you're up there doing loops and flying around, maybe the pilot lets you have a go, and then suddenly he goes silent, he's unresponsive, he must have had a heart attack. Now you have to land the plane and save the man's life! the ATC asks if you've flown a plane before and you say not but you have 1000+ hours in flight simulators. You land the plane, perfect landing, the pilot survives, the whole frecce tricolori run out to you and celebrate. As a token of gratitude they make you an honorary member of the team, free to fly with them as a passenger in the future, and pay for you to get your PPL.

Funnily enough, Black Square's planes don't have a "fail random part" button even though it seems like it'd be easy to add.
What's available is:
-Global failure rate
-Specific part failure rate
-Fail specific part right now

Mini review time. Compared to Reverb G2, the Crystal Super has nice:
>Resolution
>FOV (but it's not jaw dropping)
>Sound, with the DMAS headphones .

But it's wasted because:
>It's uncomfortable. You have feel like you are smashing your forehead, your cheekbones, and the knot on the top-back of your head so that you can get your European facial structure close enough to get your eyes in the sweet spot. Even then, it moves around all over the place if you need to turn down and to the side to reach a switch, or even turn your head quickly to glance at something. This thing fucking hurts to wear for more than an hour.
>The aforementioned sweet spot; resolution is useless if you can't get it into focus. The sweet spot is about 25-50% bigger than on the RG2, outside of it is uncomfortably blurry, plus about as much chromatic aberration as the RG2.
>Local dimming DOES NOT work for shit, even with the "fix" that was released for it today. Points of light still have a massive and bright halo around them against a dark cockpit, before the "fix" it looked like your lenses were fogging up completely.
>There is as much mura as in my RG2, which is hard to quantify, but basically everything looks dirty and more pixelated than the resolution actually is.
>The warping profile is not very good. when you move your head a quarter turn or more, it is somewhat immersion breaking.

Overall, would be a good value at $1000 probably.

Forgot to add:
>The fan on this is non-adjustable, and makes an annoying coil-while sound, and blows acrid dry air directly into my right eye, causing it to tear up after about 15 minutes. Then I have to undo the back strap tensioner so I can pull the HMD off to wipe my eye, then put it back on, re-tension the strap, and hunt around for the sweet spot again. If you pull it off with un-tensioning, the back pad is so grippy that it will rip hairs out of the worst part of your head to go bald on, and you will stop getting laid.
