Hard mode, no Brant or Lupa. I'm running low on pulls

Kuro will go out of its way to gimp characters when they are not played in their BiS teams.

Zani Frazzle application, Carte Erosion application (+HP scaling to fuck over SK) and now Lupa requiring 2 Fusion teammates (when there is only one Fusion healer in the game).

They can't lower the currency income, or release more than 2 characters per patch. Weapons are also guaranteed. So the only way for them to milk players is to "encourage" them to get characters they don't want with a risk of losing 50/50 and spending more.

Like all gacha companies, they are a gacha first, game second company.

There isn't 5yrs of units to catchup, most of the old units are replaced every couple of years, so a new player can roll one meta character that can carry them for a long time as they build other teams. You can guarantee a new character every patch because the pity is 60 w/ 100% rateup. They just introduced a new type of element that can act as a filler for an element if you're missing a tank/supp or DPS. They give out units for free a couple of times a year, and yes the free selection includes current meta characters. The only negative of PGR's gacha is that the weapon banner is 70-30, but the pity is only 30 and weapons are always available and aren't tied to character banners.

If you have her S3 sure. Otherwise, you have to constantly switch between her forms which make her buffs fall off because it takes more than 12 seconds. I don't know about you but duplicating a character field time is not my definition of "fine".
As for the source, literally every DPS after 2.1 works like this. Zani? You have to do 6 rotations to fill her bar instead of 1 if you don't have Phoebe. Cartethyia? Read above. Phrolova? You have to do the Hecate rotation manually (5 times) if you don't have Cantarella, if you have her you can switch and it happens automatically.
I'm not even going to mention how much of a mess Lupa is, she has lower personal DPS than Roccia without any of the utility, AND she only works with specific fusion units AND you have to roll for her weapon for the buffs AND you have to fight a boss (her buff doesn't work on regular foes, good luck in whiwa).
