In both Master Duel and Duel Links, surrendering means you don't get any after battle rewards (exp, daily progress, event items, etc). if you're healing as abyss you're not doing much else on your turn, also it's pretty much just ceres, olivia and cerb. If you're not pushing damage with cerb you've already lost. Olivia can be a decent play with a mummy. Ceres is waste of a super evo, you need to push your damage in the matchup. The only exception is the rare case where forest is clearly playing desperate due to bricked draws and throwing down their crucial combo pieces just to survive (this is like 5% of the forest matches)

sure but forest's is even better and more reliable. Abyss often needs 2 turns to push their reach (1 turn of cerb damage and then dump your hand or vice versa) Both options leave you very vulnerable to getting roached in between

The main problem is that Abyss can't present a threatening board to forest early/mid game and is actively struggling to clear forest tempo instead. Abyss' tools outside aragravy (and even that can very easily just fail) are extremely ineffective at dealing with the constant wide boards forest can present them. It's the same problem Abyss has with sword which is their 2nd worst match up. It's only a better matchup because there's no looming OTK on the horizon (instead there's constant wide ward spam but that's another story)

This is not the case. You're talking about the meta principle of folding to conserve information and not show your hand, but you can literally accomplish the same thing by passing turn until the game is over. Playing to your outs might also cause an opponent to reveal pertinent information if you're in a Bo3 scenario. If it's not a Bo3, then there's no incentive to quit the game early anyway.

Everyone needs to play this card, it's probably the most underrated in the set. Just randomly wins games against Forest and requires a lot of resources from most other decks as well

I don't play portal, but I don't think that you want puppet theater. Medical grade assassin might not make the cut either. Artifact portal plays Lovestruck because it's an insanely pushed 2pp 2/2 that helps shut down early aggro, and Orchis is just insane value at 8pp. Assassin is good removal, but you might want to run more cards that play into artifact generation.

An incentive is an actual, non-virtual bonus to do something. Playing another game could be another game you win just as likely as it is another game you lose. There's no bonus here because you were always going to go next. You should always play to your outs in a Bo1 format and punishing leavers is a good idea when there are challenges to be completed that involve actually playing the game.
At what point do you say you can't win a game? If your answer is "they have lethal on board/in hand for sure and I can't stop it," then just let them have their fucking cake. It's one additional turn. The time difference is so minute so as to render the whole thing moot.

How do people consistently do well with roach decks? Whenever I play it feels like there's a 70% chance I won't see roach at all. I don't see any of these consistent decks running cricket either.

I'd argue that that part of white has been subsumed by Sword, which leans white/red.
Dragon leans green/red (though mostly green), Abyss leans black with a bit of red and white sprinkled in, Rune leans blue/red (though mostly blue), Forest leans blue/green, Portal is kinda like artifact decks in MtG.

I don't. I will admit there's less incentive in SV than other games because of how fast it is, but if you look at most online card games (MTGA, MD, Pokemon) you can spend 10-20 minutes trying to turn a loss into a win or concede and play 2-3 more games in that same time frame.
As far as "making them earn it" goes, they've earned it by putting me in an essentially unwinnable position.
