I don't mind TDM overall but Gracelynn Skycity is an unbearably shitty map and I hate it so much. Small cramped arenas with poor cover, out of bounds zones that screw your targeting if you go slightly too close to the edges, and instadeath pits in a game with uncancellable quick descent and in a gamemode where dying is a big deal. I have no idea what they were thinking.

It's kind of weird because I think the map design in this game is actually very good overall, but that one is just awful.

The pits shouldn't exist in the first place, they're utter bullshit in a game where you can't look directly down and quick descend is an important evasion tool. It's not like there are good opportunities to use them for environmental kills or anything, literally all they do is kill you instantly with no recourse if you quick descend or run out of flight energy in the wrong spot.

They should just get rid of the pits and let the physical walls of the city be the map edge; there's absolutely no good reason for a map with a clearly delineated visible boundary to have the actual boundary be an invisible zone that is slightly smaller.

stellaris is also acceptable easymode since you can pick your fights, mostly

falcon might be tempting but it dies in just a couple snipes so its less forgiving than skyraider, and doesn't have quite as good pve farming ability

The first few extractions you do are nothing but bot lobbies. When you get real extraction against ppl then I noticed Welkins are particularly hard to kill and it's over if they catch you, Alysnes has 4 health bar so that help, and Tricera is tanky but has heals so it should be easier too.

But if you're just starting playing the mode now I'll say just have fun with falcon or skyraider

I mostly agree but just wondering why others think this. For me its the nature of the gameplay. It's just not varied enough to make people want to play over and over again if you compare it to things like DotA or League. No in game progression which I think is a big hook for players. There also isn't any meta progression outside of a mashmak but lets be honest that is not the main hook of the game no matter how badly the devs want it to be. Despite this, I personally love the game but I think thats due to me being very into niche mecha combat. There really isn't anything multiplayer competitive available out there that has this style of gameplay.

It's extremely difficult nowadays to get people to commit to a new multiplayer game long term. Everyone already has their "main game" (fortnite, COD, apex legends, league, etc.).
People are willing to "try" new multiplayer games but unless it pops off and they can convince all of their friends to play it or the game has a large enough population that they have consistently fast queue times solo queue they'll eventually just switch back to their main game.

This is manageable in co-op, but not in pvp. The game must maintain at least 30,000 daily low concurrent players, otherwise we'll just end up back where we were in the beta, stuck in bot matches or facing two-hour queues once those bot matches run out in GM.
That said it's still too early to worry about the future of the game.

Hard agree here. Mecha games are very different and people aren't gonna want to stick around long enough to git gud and compete with people who do nothing but play these games. Sad really, I love this style of game play a lot but I recognize that even smaller skill differences can feel like a massive gap in ability in this game. Just curious from someone who played only AC6 and ZOE2 from mecha games, but shouldn't this game feel like any HeRo ShOoTeR? I think this game will be played for a long time in asia-pacific.

It's about as peak as you can get in mecha genre at the moment. The power fantasy, aesthetics, gameplay, cosmetics, pilot design are all there and going to get better and better.

Some of them has an impossibly high kudos number displayed, like 306.
In payload they ping the objective once every 10-15 seconds through the entire game.
Some bots during gameplay are hacking, especially melee mechs who can track you through anything and Tricera who will perfect time and spam Its parry, even if its faced the other way and firing at enemies.
Flier bots will frequently fly at ground level in objective points.

This was the one thing I wanted gone from the game and I'm considering dropping it for this shit alone. I'm just not into bots, even if they're challenging yet it feels like half the challenge is carrying your own bot teammates if they've picked shitty mechs like Hurricane and Narukami.

Yeah nah, this difficulty is not for me. I'm going back to Extreme. It's sweatier but I have never been 2v1'd before as it is always an actual free for all and the loot is significantly better.

Both the flying mechs, Falcon and Aquila, are super stupid and gay to play against. And if your team doesn't have their own Falcon and Aquila who are chasing the other ones around then it's just a lost game. Very toxic mechs.

I wish Falcon's 3 missiles were easier to land. Now that I'm in Grandmaster, I'm finding it difficult to get a good enough angle to land the whole burst of my missiles as there's too much random small objects blocking or the entire team is piled together which often includes several anti-missile move wielding characters like Tricera.
Also, as other Falcons and Skyraiders get better it feels useless to fight them and instead we just bug each other all much because we can't really hit each other due to the excessive amount of target-breaking dodge spamming the two are capable of and trying to take them down by manually aiming the left click gets nowhere.
Lately haven't been running into Aquillas or Narukamis to pick on, too. Dare I say that Falcon could use some small buffs of some sort? Maybe something minor like ramping damage on his left click if he sustains a full magazine on the same target. Something to help in situations where his 3 is extremely difficult to use.

Make it to grand master and matchmaking is completely fucked. 3 stacks just dicking down people.

Normal loot is genuinely awful unless you play your ass off and hit every point of interest you can, and successfully kill other players. Even then it's likely worse than an average run in Extreme because you can get supply crates and better Corite ores. If you're worried about it then take Cargo Rockets and play it safe by sending up a supply crate and some Corite if you get any.

If it's a single sniper, Falcon or other snipers. Air Raider is breddy good vs Naru too. If it's multiple snipers your only option is counter sniping while abusing terrain. I wouldn't say I have zero situational awareness, but I also never said I was the best Stellaris ever, did I kill the Narukami, yes, also the Aquila. I feel like I did basically everything I could. I don't know I'm just frustrated from this losing streak I've been on. Half these teams can't do an objective to save their fucking lives.

As a Tricera main, I lowkey feel bad for Panther mains, they just can’t kill me no matter what they do. Sometimes I even end up ignoring them completely and focusing on someone else instead. It's the same story with pretty much everyone except energy damage dealers, and that’s only if they fly high enough that my gun can’t aim at them.

But Welkin, though… the moment I see him and there’s no melee ally nearby, I just run. And to be fair, and this isn’t just Welkin hate, in very rare cases I can escape or hold him off until help arrives (though enemy Welkin usually gets backup faster when it’s a 1v1). Still, the biggest real threat to Tricera is Serenith, energy damage and orbital cannon strikes pretty much turn Tricera’s turret mode into dead weight.

Are you extracting in obvious places? Like next to where you killed the ships/planes that drop crates? Try to go to a location that has nothing interesting first, especially in 1v1, like access gates.
