I don't really consider the word of beta testers with a limited card pool to be a gold standard for mechanical balance. Mechanical elegance and futureproofing is far more important than arbitrarily forcing people to use bonus PP early. If they want people to use it in the early game, then they should have designed their card pool to make it worth doing so for early tempo plays.
Funny enough, the abundance of evo/s.evo points actually ruins the whole thing further because it allows players to more easily steal back tempo without taking any loss aside from the evo point cost. Super evo is especially egregious for this in how it often leads to 2+-for-1 situations.

I was catching up on /svg/ I'd missed and saw anon asking about Aiela.
So Aiela was a cute bronze card in Classic that ramped on Last Words, a staple. When the 1st leader poll came it was nice to see her offered as a choice, but understandable that she wouldn't win to Aldos the Kaibaman. She got a new gold card not long after once Rotation came around and was once again a staple, evo to ramp meant she was your top choice for turn 4 evo, and at 2pp she was easy to fit into all decks. PDK loved her, ramp lived her, everyone loved Aiela, so it was only natural that at a higher rarity she'd be a shoo-in for the next leader poll given it was her second chance.

Then came the Dawnbreak Nightedge miniexpac. Then came Filene.

An SV original, this legendary 2pp emerged onto the scene and dominated everyone's attention, being a strong card and also cute she went into all decks. But what about Aiela? Well it didn't take long for memes and art about a rivalry between the two to arise, pushed by both /svg/ and nips who appreciated a catfight for lulz. Come the 2nd poll it was not only dominance by Filene, but fucking Jerva came 2nd leaving Aiela in 3rd. Kek.

Aiela would finally get her chance at her third version, now legendary, and with the competition looking tight many thought she'd lose to the new hotness Rola. She didn't though, and clawed her way to the 4th poll's top where a leader spot awaited her.
Unfortunately for Aiela she would be truly a dragoncuck as Cygames decided at this point to give selected runners up a leader so that there might be diversity. This meant that 3rd placer Valdain (a male) and 2nd placer Rola (tits) would not only become leaders but also be implemented BEFORE Aiela could arrive. Some thought this may have been intentional as a jab to Aiela but it's more likely to be simple meme magic that Aiela was a NEVER EVER, with some predicting that the game would EoS when she finally was implemented. Good thing that didn't happen...

I think there are two lines he could take here, besides just gamble it with Satan. One is to just play Kuon for 10 and Dclimb, the other is to clear and heal 20, and setting up better for OTK.

I haven't played puppet portal, but I've played against it a lot with a deck that has a superb matchup vs it. I don't know if you really want to bring ding-dong. She's sort of passive in the early game and you ideally want to try to get some chip damage in early on.

Best case scenario for you is that you open with Lovestruck Puppeteer. Then over the next few turns you leverage puppet bullshit to keep killing the enemy's followers so that puppeteer can swing face a few times. The problem with puppet portal is that it really struggles to push damage to the opponent's face beyond what Orchis and Liam can do. If Lovestruck puppeteer or some of your other 2 drops can get a couple of hits in, then Orchis and Liam don't have to work so hard to achieve lethal. You also want to ideally have some of Noah's upgraded puppets in hand so that you can do more damage when you play Orchis.

You might want to consider running 1x satan as a plan B. I've been playing Control Abyss, which is REALLY good at healing. I can pretty reliably heal 12+ HP over the course of one match. That has made my matchup vs puppets extremely favorable since Orchis and Liam just run out of steam once you start asking them to inflict 32+ HP. But with a handful of puppets you might be able to mitigate the normal tempo loss from playing satan.

Diamond my ass, Abyss is capable of winning because a large chunk of its damage doesn't come from the board in the first place so a wipe doesn't actually hurt that much. It's mostly dependent on getting burnt together vs Haven having just enough healing to weather it. It also depends on the type though because a full control list is just gonna not die. Storm has to leave itself more open in order to get any damage to stick though so that's going to be weaker.

Dragonslayer and Berserker kinda shares the same job in midgame, personally I like Berserker more since it's a 6/7 body on evo but if you're using your evo on Liu Feng to ramp then you can probably keep Dragonslayer and cut Berserker.
I used to also put shrimp in my deck but turn 5 is usually most of the stupid shit happens. There are lesbians, Alouette, Glade, Magus, Aragavy, and Salefa. 3(4 if Alouette take one with her) have Ward, while most of them also have board clear of some sort. There's just no timing to throw shrimp out so I cut him from my deck.
Olivia is good, but if the game got to turn 7 and you need to throw out Olivia then chances are you're already getting out of gas.

Step 1: Figure out your win condition, this can be almost anything, go through your card list and find something that seems fun.
Step 2: Assuming perfect draws, fill out your deck for a curve that leads to that lethal as soon as possible
Step 3: See if there are other cards that can get you to the win con, or if there are cards that can replace the win con. For instance, Carbuncle and Bug Alert are both <1pp bounce cards.
Step 4: Thin your deck, the less copies of a card you put in the deck, the LATER you want to draw it. Don't do the retard thing of putting a card in for 'certain matchups'. If you don't want to draw it every game, don't put it in the deck.
Step 5: Play 10 games, do not change the deck for those 10 games, you need a large enough sample to know for sure what works and what doesn't.
Step 6: Remove the cards that you never end up playing, add cards that would have won you the game instead if you had them in your hand instead
Step 7: Continue Step 5 and 6 until you're no longer finding cards in your hand you don't need, or wishing you had a different card in your deck.

The consistency comes from having a clear wincon and building the deck with as many paths as possible to that wincon. If you're looking to draw a certain card by T7, with 3 copies there's only a 58% chance. So you're going to lose 4 out of 10 games relying on just that card.

Cerb is crazy, and can force at least 6-7 damage while clearing their board. If you have Anything up, that's + 2 damage per body going to face.. If you have a nearly full board, even if it's a shitty board on a cerb turn, you threaten obscene damage. Sticky is good. Sticky is really good.

I have actually won those games as Abyss. If you're lucky and have the right cards in hand, you can answer a lesbian + flame destroyer board. And if they have 2x lesbians, 2x Kuons, and some flame destroyers in hand, they probably run out of gas after they play out all of that.
