I have not survived a single raid but I still think this is in the right direction (kind of).

The biggest problem right now is that people unironically sit in spawn or by extracts for 20 minutes. The amount of people I've run into just still sitting in a corner in their spawn area is kind of nuts. But this also literally was how it was like before flea from my experience.

Three raids, other things I wanna do now but I'm interested enough to do one raid a day at least.
First raid, Customs, MP5 with MRS, fought a duo off spawn by scav checkpoint. Got the first guy cause he got stuck in a vaulting animation by the pipes and prefired the second one to the face. Both prestiges and somehow these faggots already had Ospreys and STRIKE helmets. Didn't get to take any of it cause I got third partied by some prestige 2 cumstain.
Second raid, Customs with a 590, spawned by dorms so I rushed the boss and I got killed by a Reshala guard because he bugged out and teleported between standing upright and going prone while shooting me at the same time. Shit gun but they should've fixed that bug the first day they made the AI dropshot again.
Third raid, Customs again, spawned by new gas and all I did was loot it then go for RUAF. Turns out that extract isn't a thing anymore? Unless I got really unlucky. Made it out from crossroads, at least.

2. You can upgrade your hideout and collect keys and get better gear, there's still progression to be made

Honestly if it causes that much of an issue I feel like armour and pen could be ten different levels. mix of GOST and NIJ ratings, new highest end can stop everything that isn't AP HMG cartridges for a couple of shots (think it'd be around 80 pen). intermediate rifles cap off somewhere around 50-55. full rifles around 60-65. magnum rifles around 70-75. anything above the new class 5 (which would stop around 40 pen) would be FIR only, both rounds and plates. Helmets cap out around level 4-5, most of them being level 2-3, with prices reduced to compensate and helmet progression being tied mainly to utility functions like light/NVG shroud mounts and lightness/comfort. no more 4.6x30 that can pen through 90% of the armour in the game. FIR only items spawn weighted on protection/pen rating going from lowest to highest.

I've only ever played solo which I why I've learned to play this way. I dont sit at extract and wait for people to walk into my cross hairs. I know spawns and what the player traffic is, I know the maps, I know how to abuse positioning and where the angles are, i know where i can retreat to if it goes south. My problem is maps like ground zero where I know Im going to enter into a building that has some one prepped and ready for a fight, whose already holding an angle. Where there are no ways to flank or reposition. Where it all comes down to gear and aim. None if you play the more 'casual' gamemodes, like I said.

Checkpoint is a domination style gamemode with instant respawns, it's the most casual atleast it feels like, because the whole map is your sandbox and even if you're losing the points you can still frag out and have 1v1s

Last Hero is just a FFA, 6 players per lobby whoever top frags gets most rewards. Some maps are aids and some maps are actually pretty fun on it.

Blastgang is just modern counter-strike. No one fucking plays this unless they have a five-stack because no one can coordinate or build rapport mid match like actual solo-queuing in CS.

Teamfight is a TDM, no respawns until round is over type of mode. Win by wiping the other team or by capturing a single point that is often at the middle of the map; which only appears after a timer.
Oh yeah and if time run's out in that mode, they send a bunch of raider-AI to kill you.

Stick to Checkpoint or Last Hero for the training you need, if you ever want to play the other two modes you probably should do after you get your mechanical skills up.

It's because it has no plates inside, plates are the thing that make it so expensive to insure, I insured the press vest but not the plates and it only cost like 5k. Helmets are also super cheap to insure.
