This is PoE2 design in a nutshell.

Finally finished this recomb craft with 2prefix/2suffix + 2p/2s. Odds were about 28% to hit a 3p/2s and I hit it on the first try. Spent about 8-9mil dust on recombs. 2-3k alts. Alooooot of bases. All in all, they really gutted recomb crafting compared to last league. I think it's still +EV to recomb for profit since cheapest armor identical to this goes for 110div,140 if u hit the tailor orb.

Yeah you just got really lucky dude. Recombining is actually around 80div per craft just in materials. And it’ll take at least an hour to craft it, probably several hours of clicking alterations and doing the recombining process. So your chances of hitting the 5mod are around 10%, which means in a population of 100,000 people, 10,000 people are getting good recombining RNG. Dude don’t talk to me until you’re 6 times over drop rate. Get a 4mod, and watch your 4mod turn to a 3mod, then watch it again turn back into a 2mod. All that work, completely wasted. Then do that again 6 more times. Honestly you’re looking at 100,000 alterations orbs at least. That guys fucking retarded he didn’t use hundreds of bases with only 3k alts. None of those mods are rare. Wait until you try that shit with a 1/2k mod. 100 div for these items is probably the actual price, it’s probably worth more. last two leagues i picked starters that could easily transition/scale to infinity

-pick cheap ass starter build that can basically get to 4 watchstones (or the equivalent amount of content prior to current watchstone system) on basically a 5link (think mines or other gay shit like that)
-use cheap ass starter build to farm enough currency to buy the required items for a "high roller build" to be minimally online
-level my secondary character (i.e. the "high roller" build) and pump all that farmed currency into him, then fully swap to that build for the rest of the league

in particular, what makes a good high roller build is the ability to be scaled to extreme heights
many shit/starter builds plateau at the 20-50div investment range and aren't very good, while a truly good high roller build can essentially be scaled to whatever level you wish before you get burned out

Because of the rarity of t1 phys, I’ll be following these rules when making my weapon

-NEVER attempt to annul the bad mod off it
-do NOT bump up a 4pool to a 5pool using enchants
-ALWAYS recombine this with a premade 1p/2s

Its cheaper to prefixes can’t be changed + scour it than to fail even 1 annul. And, the t1 flat phys, multi strike and AS rolls are very easy to come by. The goal is to have a final product of a 2p/2s + 2p/2s. I will definitely also recombine a 2p/2s + 2p/1s. I don’t think I will ever need to do a 2p/1s + 2p/1s. Finally, a failed recombine that picks the enchant is never worth the possibility of a failed recombine that picks both phys %.

HOWEVER what i would really recommend is that you make the boss uniques stand out visually so when you kill a boss and press alt you can quickly identify all the boss drops which could be the item youre looking for.
and make sure that all valuable boss drops are in the tier because neversink set it up stupidly, so something like onyx amulet isnt a boss drop because its also in "multibase low" since it can be a replica dragonfang. so you would miss it if you hid multibase low and didnt look for drops with that look when pressing alt.

You can add any enchant into a 4pool to bump it to a 5pool. 5pool has a 60% chance at inheriting 3mods. A 4pool will only have a 30%. There’s no benefit to using a metamod. There may be a benefit to using the lowest level mod, this part is still unknown. Because last season the upgraded recombining machine had an option to increase the likelihood of picking a higher leveled mod. The wiki doesn’t even know if the new machine still does this. Maybe somebody knows the answer to this, we’ve probably had lots of test work done by now. But yeah and you can even double enchant a 3pool to just go totally yolo, but you’ll have to win the right 3 mods out of 5. Also you don’t have to enchant in a 0pool scenario, although it’s way cheaper on dust to enchant low level mods. Here’s my updates guide to the Vaal axe!

Is there any reason in the world to play regular animate weapon over the ranged animate weapon?
Regular weapons get wiped out even with minion investment while the ranged weapons tend to kill most things before they get to them. Or maybe I'm just caught in a gearing point where regular weapons need more defensive investment but can do more damage overall idk.
