* Backloaded rewards for synergies, incentivizing putting money at the start of the game (fomo)
* Level requirements to continue the story (i.e get to lv 30 to beat Palace 1 boss) which was NOT there in other versions of the game. Obviously playing on fomo to get players to buy/use stamina
* Horrendous pop-up ads that were NOT present in the other versions of the game

am I making a mistake getting into this game? i've been ignoring all of the doomposting but with the new event launched i'm wondering how the hell i'm supposed to acquire even a fraction of these characters with the resources provided. I did buy the 5 dollar pass and was planning to keep getting that each month but that really is only 2, 10 rolls. rolls are so blindingly expensive and this game seems to require so many.
my only other gacha experience was azur lane which by comparison VERY aggressively does everything they can to make sure you are able to easily get every single character (as they make their money through skins), and they even give you enough credits to buy skins free on a regular basis. This is absurd by comparison.
I at the very least want to be able to get the characters I like and it seems like I wont be able to even accomplish that.

I didn't really have that issue. I also got that tide set, and it procced all the time, but it didn't really damage me (or the enemy) much, but buffed/debuffed respectively and filled my Highlight gauge every time it triggered by 40%.

I also had a 4 combo ST set, so my ST Byakko MC dealt like 20k damage to both with one nuke. They died after getting each one turn. Played fire team.

I just made it to palace 2 and don't feel like speedrunning it. That said I did scrounge up enough to hit pity and that's after exhausting everything including how far I could grind in velvet trials. I'll play a bit longer for now, but if Sega doesn't dogeza and we don't get substantially increased gem currency then I'm dropping this game. EoS is mostly used for shitposting purposes since none of the big gacha really get EoS'd (anything that makes more than 1 mil a month). That said if it's a game you really enjoy I can see it being a dreadful experience. I was around for the last days of Dragalia Lost and it was very somber and depressing.

But that being said I've never stuck around to the end of a gacha so I can't say I know the feeling personally. I usually quit before/when a game is going to shit so when it dies I don't feel any regret. I got my time out of it, even after spending money, so it's whatever.
