One thing I've grown to really like about Wilds visuals wise is how full on chromatic it is. Every area really has its own extreme color and it's not toned down in the name of "realism", everything in the vulcano depths is blindingly orange and red and no other area in the game feels like it because of that. I hate how in most modern games the lighting colors are all compressed into a very narrow shitty range, even World was like that.

Played a bit both in docked and portable. FPS is unlocked and goes up to 45-50 I'd say in low intensity areas and drops sharply towards 30 when fighting big mons. The deathstalker opening fight is still laggy as hell.
The engine still struggles with swapping textures (ROTN is even worse) but the overall image quality is alright and even beautiful in cutscenes.
Overall very impressed with what they managed to do with the port.

This Community is Discraceful!

Destroying the game's approval rating, attacking people who just want to play for fun, and sending death threats to the developers is beyond unacceptable. It would be one thing if this community focused on providing constructive feedback or openly criticizing CAPCOM’s decision to release Wilds in its current state on PC. That is fair and even necessary if we want better standards. But this? This is nothing but vile harassment.

Developers are human beings, just like you and me. They deserve to be treated with basic respect. They are not faceless punching bags for all of your frustrations. It is one thing to demand patches, performance fixes, or to vent disappointment. It is another thing entirely to threaten someone’s life or harass them.

This community has not just crossed the line, it has obliterated it. CAPCOM pulled out of CEDEC 2025 because of the level of harassment and threats they received. That is not some trivial consequence. It is a clear sign that things have gone too far. It damages the relationship between developers and players, and it undermines any real chance for honest communication or improvement.

Frankly, this behavior is degenerate and embarrassing for everyone in the fandom, both those actively engaging in it and those letting it fester without calling it out. If you really care about this game or franchise, you should want better. You should want a community that can hold developers accountable without resorting to threats.

Anyone who sent death threats to the developers should face real consequences. They should be permanently banned from the game and its forums. There is no excuse for this kind of toxic behavior, and it has no place in any gaming community.

In trying to accommodate everyone, the game forgets that part of the thrill of hunting is feeling like the prey sometimes. What if your hunter wasn’t a god? Inclemency would be thrilling beyond just the visual spectacle. It would mean your hunt could be interrupted by an Apex.

I want that version of Wilds. The one that trusts its world enough to let players get lost in it. The one that lets the hunt unfold naturally, instead of scheduling it around talking-head cutscenes.

Let the game breathe. Let it be.

Because beneath all the noise and optimization issues, MH Wilds is brilliant.

Performance is far from the only issue with this game. They seem to have focused all their development time into a pointless and bland open world, pointless 2 weapon system and entirely reworking armour skills to accommodate this, not to mention the 2-dimensional story which was apparently going to be the deepest and most character-driven story in the series.

The maps are built to be traversed with the Seikret, but all it means is that there are many pathways and shortcuts inaccessible on foot, which gives you even less reason to actually play the game instead of just hopping on the Seikret and getting auto-pilot to take you to the monster. The monsters are all ridiculously easy too, so why even bother upgrading your weapons or armour?

This game is very weirdly directed. You're better off playing any other Monster Hunter title

The exploration and open map design stuff really is schizo design. A couple of reasons.
Game has to have some form of TAA. No AA option exists without turning AA off or using reshade
A lot of people rely on framegen
The overall color pallete of any individual camera angle is REALLY monochrome
The lighting is honestly weak as fuck.
A lot of the textures are just smoothed and more grey, especially if not using the high res pack
Everything is constantly in shadow or darkness. There's a reason people only like the looks of the game in the forest during plenty. It's the sunlight
The game unironically has a piss filter on the LUT, so all colors skew towards the same

GI is expensive as fuuuuuck. Especially in cases where your map is doing a very fast day/night cycle.
There's some voxel GI systems I've seen that bakes in lightdata at runtime in some part of a scenes and then does periodical checks to see if a scene changed drastically to recompute light but there's no way that's what capcom is doing.
Only GI I know off in a modern release that doesn't rape your frames (too much) is the one used in KCD2 and 1.

The portable games are and always have been. It's just a shame people largely haven't played them. A good amount of people skipped the first 2 because of "oh the clunky gen 1 and 2 are too clunky" despite freedom and FU being noticeably less clunky than their mainline counterparts. Then gen 3 portable wasn't localized so nobody played it. Then gen 4 portable people dismissed because it takes quite a while to get going with that slow intro and it was deemed too anime-like. Then rise was deemed too anime-like and too easy so people drop it before it becomes kino in endgame sunbreak. This series would have unironically been forgotten ages ago if not for portable but the simple fact is most people haven't touched the portable games outside of rise and maybe GU which they likely both dropped before g rank. For most people monhun is either:
