Yea, that's what I meant by not being fully realized, the original idea was that the colors the cape would copy from your chest armor would also choose the glow color, basically 1st color is top of cape/cloth on sword and 2nd color is bottom of cape/energy color. Basically the same as Scarf.

I returned to MH Wilds for the Lagiacrus update when I realized something was wrong. Not with the game, but with how I was playing it. The screen was cluttered with icons. The mount I was riding moved too fast for anything to really register. A handler chirped in my ear like a worried parent. Pop-ups flared, tooltips blinked. It was noise, all of it.

So I stopped. I got off the mount. I turned off as much of the HUD as the settings allowed. I walked.

And just like that, MH Wilds transformed.

Freed from the barrage of interruptions and “helpful” systems, I started to see the game for what it truly is: a living, breathing ecosystem.=

I followed monster tracks, not because a UI told me to, but because I wanted to. I crouched near a nest and watched a Rathian sleep, noticing the subtle rise and fall of her chest. I listened to the game. Wind whistling over dunes. The crunch of grass underfoot. The low, omnipresent hum of something ancient just out of view.

And that’s the tragedy of Wilds. It has all the ingredients of a masterpiece. The environmental storytelling, the monster AI, the raw atmosphere. Dude, it’s all there. But it’s buried under layers of noise designed to make things “easier,” “friendlier,” more “accessible.”

In trying to accommodate everyone, the game forgets that part of the thrill of hunting is feeling like the prey sometimes. What if your hunter wasn’t a god? Inclemency would be thrilling beyond just the visual spectacle. It would mean your hunt could be interrupted by an Apex.

I want that version of Wilds. The one that trusts its world enough to let players get lost in it. The one that lets the hunt unfold naturally, instead of scheduling it around talking-head cutscenes.

Let the game breathe. Let it be.

Because beneath all the noise and optimization issues, MH Wilds is brilliant.

I think im done with Wilds

As the title states i think I'm legitimately done with Wilds. Im a huge monster hunter fan, but no other title i've played in the past, even the ones known for being janky, have made me this mad and annoyed. Freedom unite, the first monster hunter, rise, 3u and 4u, generations, and world i love from the bottom of my heart despite their issues. But Wilds feels so unoptimized, unpolished, and unfinished that im REALLY starting to believe any and all negative reviews of the game are well warranted.

This game is the equivalency of having a month to do a school project and farting something out the night before the deadline to say you at least did it.

The dev team made various monsters i LOVED in past installments some of the most annoying and frustrating fights ive had the displeasure of experiencing. And yes, this is including OTHER harder fights like risen elders, apexes in 4u, rajang, and hyper deviljho.

Maps make simple encounters grueling due to the layout and how your hunter reacts, the confusing layout and geography can really frustrate me. EVERY fight, you are in a gank fight, featuring the monster, the map, and the camera which has gotten me killed more often than not. Areas and some of the monsters are so cramped that it increases the annoyance ten fold (yes alluring pods exist, but thats adding another step to something that other games didnt need or have)

Yeah...i legitimately think im done playing. Unless this game gets the appropriate checks, balances, and patches, wilds will be NO where near as good as past titles. I might come back every once and a while, but i wont be paying it the same amount of attention as past titles have gotten.

Some may still love the game and i will NEVER judge or mock someone for that, but for me: i think i just need to step away and play something else for a bit. Im gonna go back to Elden ring.

My enjoyment of the game has increased by a lot by cutting out fast traveling anywhere but to main camps, getting rid of a lot of HUD shit and pop ups, and doing random shit on maps instead of just hunting one thing over and over again.

Now only if there were some kind of incentive for the game to be played this way. Pretty much everything you hunt under a 8-star quest is useless; the mats are worth much less for any of the endgame melding, the only material of note you get are hunter seal II and hunter seal I, but there aren't actually that many weapons that use them (not to mention that almost all monster-created weapons are crap compared Artian), and most of the special materials you get are from rng drops from the farm systems, which mean you should probably just be resting over and over again (because guild points are so abundant and not used for anything anyway).

No....absolutely not. Fuckin hell Rise is as far from MH as I want the game to be. Flat ass empty maps that feel sad compared to even 3U, horrid color pallets for the map(which become bizzare as hell because the home bases are fine), counter spam hell shoved down your throat, spiritbirds, dumbass skill changes that nerfed defensive options, the shitty deco level changes, and health bloat out the ass that makes you spam the fuck out of those shitty wirebugs.

On top of that, on the off chance you wanna refuse to use wirebugs, the game with force you to constantly use them for one reason or another, with them tripling down on the god awful laydown pin from world as well as HEAVILY increased tracking to keep up with them making normal dodging absolute abysmal, that's ignoring the i-frame nerfs as well just to make you use the bugs more.

Also the absolute fear of the portable team of letting their monsters be nerfed and actively removing or crippling some part breaks to make sure the monster can keep the advantage instead of breaking a monster part having some kind of good reward for trying to cripple the thing. Boy I sure do love my rathian tell cuts doing fuck all.

As a further bonus, Sunbreak was the peak of starting the unfinished on purpose campaign before it bit them hard in the ass in Wilds because that shit was missing 2/5th of the afflicted, several missing deco+'s, and the end game rare species or powerful new monsters you fight at the end of EVERY G-RANK of Monster Hunter as a reward after you fight the final boss with only Furious and Scorned being anything new to unlock.

World/Iceborne wasn't perfect, hell Alatreon was my awakening to that but at no point did it come across like it was trying to spite the fuck out of me for no goddamn reason.

My Duo Never Wants to Play Wilds Anymore and I Dont Blame Them

I got a friend of mine into MH a few years ago. We played a little bit of Generations and played the hell out of Sunbreak. When Wilds dropped we both got it immediately and although we complained about the wounds and stuff then, we still had fun. When we finished everything we wanted, we decided to wait until the TU dropped. TU 1 and 2 came and went and we hunted the new monsters then just stopped. I kept asking when they wanted to play next and they would say soon, but we'd end up playing something else. I asked why they didnt wanna play MH anymore and I have to agree with what they said. Whats the point? Everything, even tempered monsters just get stunlocked to death. There's no missions to grind out, just endless random investigations that give rewards we dont need. So, we went back to sunbreak and had a great time. There's something about having missions, even if all it is is a little checkmark, that feels so much better and worthwhile compared to investigating the same monsters over and over I guess

I can relate man. Leading up to the release of Wilds I was invited to join the newly formed speedrunning group Ouroboros Hunters which formed from mostly ex-Elixir MH members. I don't consider myself speedrunner level by any means, but I was doing stuff with challenge runs and custom quests. I remember how excited we were to sink our teeth into the game, to coordinate runs and to build up a team channel. Pump out runs, make guides, all that stuff. But then we got hit with beta 1 and its problems. Then beta 2 and its problems. Worried but still somewhat optimistic. Then the game released. Nolife for a week or two, but the problems rear their ugly heads. Excitement gives way to disappointment then demoralization. Community doesn't want to hear what we have to say about the problems. The runs stop happening. The boys stop playing. Some go back to World. Others check out the TU, spend an hour or two, then close the game. Some just don't play MH anymore and went on to enjoy other games. I can't blame them, I feel the same way. It makes me incredibly sad to think of what could have been. It just feels like there's nothing left for us here.

And yes, it's absolutely on me for not learning the tell, but when every tell he has is "Hey, I'm flying up in the air" and half of them require immediate fucking action to dodge correctly, and then he spams this goddamned pin the other half of the time which is an instant KO if he catches you with it and you don't have slinger ammo, it makes me want to do experimental projectile physics with my keyboard.
