Mercury wanted to see if the Light could be stolen, because the Nine coveted the Light thinking it would free and empower them. The rest of the Nine punished Mercury for doing that.
So yeah, its already a thing that the Nine have been meddling. Sometimes as a group, sometimes one of them going rogue and fucking around.

It’s irritating how far this series lore fell from the likes of Dust, and Ecdysis from Season of Drifter. I’m torn, I truly felt like the Nine were just annoyingly cryptic enough even though they often did deliver on what they referenced earlier on, but it’s one of those things where I liked them being weird watchers of things and not being over explained or even necessarily fully acknowledged by some of the most powerful characters we met. I get they can kinda work as an adversary or well split enough factions, but then I feel there will be some inevitably treading and shit basically being not only fully demystified but super samey. Honesty I feel like Drifter’s entire perspective of everything related to this particularly the lore for Season of Drifter is one of the better things written

This will give the category an injection of new viewers once the worlds first is gained and allow the non contest ready streamers like Vtubers with a more general audience to bring eyes onto the game.

It's not like World's First has genuine prestige anyway. I would be surprised if any team in the Top 10 of any D2 raid since DSC didn't have leaks on hand, or at least one person on the team actively aware of leaks, to give them an advantage.
If they want it to have any sort of credibility, it needs to get similar requirements to speedrunning: Completely visible screen, visible timer, and an input display capture at bare minimum. Preferably also no muted comms. Going into Worlds' First with the intent of getting the #1 clear is you putting yourself on trial for saying "I'm the best", and it should feel like that. If you can't handle that pressure, then you ain't #1.

I've just finished the Final Shape campaign in legendary. Gameplay-wise, it was very interesting, with lots of varied combat and some pretty tough encounters. The story, on the other hand, didn't thrill me; it was clearly Zavala, Caydes and Crow's campaign, not mine. Fortunately, my Ghost was there to make me believe it was my story too. There were no really epic moments either, everything was very confined and very small-scale.

I preferred the Witch Queen one.

My theory is that it was always looking for a people that could wield the light the way humanity does. It originally wanted The Hive and we see they can do the shit humans can with it and we even saw Savathun came up with a way to keep The Traveler safe forever on top of that. Why is Contest Mode a limited time thing in the first place?
Like, just release CM and NM at the same time. WFR clout is only the first two days, but CM stays on as an optional mode. Its like Mythic tier for WoW (but the release is in reverse since LFR/NM/HM drops first there).
