Treasure upgrades a (shit) character to be more useful but not always the case. To unlock a treasure, you need to have the doll on that character maxed out (Purple 15) and use their unique mats (which you get mostly through dispatch) to further upgrade the doll.
There’s also an exchange system where you can exchange unneeded treasure mats for the one you want at the rate of 5:1. However, the shitty part is you need to fully upgrade a treasure before you can exchange them away. This means that if you choose to not fully unlock the treasure for characters you are not interested in, this system becomes much more useless. If you choose to upgrade everything then you need to spend a lot of doll maintenance kits. It’s a dilemma.

To be fair they have been using default Rapi in all the crossover events so it seems like they do care about not spoiling people to some degree, but I do agree they could have been a little more proactive in addressing the issues mentioned. And I say this as someone who is completely caught up so it's purely out of caring for other players' experience. But at least we know they're working on it and have a timeframe for when it will be out.
That said it is pretty common for gacha to have events that expect you to be caught up to the current story and players expect to get spoiled going in, Genshin for example does this all the time. The difference is that they actually warn you about what chapters will be spoiled and doesn't particularly gate your progress in the story by combat power.
I also from previous experience with this kind of thing doubt that a summer event will spoil anything pivotal, like yeah you'll know Rapi has red hair but the summer event won't tell you why, you still won't find out until you catch up to the story. They're smart with leaving some things unsaid. But for those who think that's still too much? Well, there's always the archives. At least it's not like Genshin where if you miss an event you never get to see it again.
