Unpopular opinion, but I actually think Storm was a lot more realistic and fitting compared to The Banished. Storm was an underdog group of broken Covenant fighting an overpowered Human empire.
Banished were just some totally powerful group that supposedly existed since Halo 2 and was equal to The Covenant in their height. Despite never being talked about until HW2. Oh and Atriox is so powerful and great he outwits Cortana.

Banished were basically that, using insider knowledge and experience to keep supplied. In theory any criminal can be caught if the entire world comes together to do so, but various factors often allow criminals who are smart to keep on the run for ages while the maximum force that could be brought against them never manifests.
However, I did take issue with various finer details of the Banished, both before and during Infinite. Somehow my mind has been automatically forming a new faction, I'm looking forward to seeing what the team under Pierre comes up with. Would also like to know about the new faction ideas Marcus mentioned during an interview.
It'll be a while until then considering how long it took to get H2 storyboards (of a type) and get more of those early Halo build files. Wonder if the HS-era will introduce any of the cut Covenant species from Halo 2.

I haven't played a single mission on regular legendary in any Halo where I didn't die several times. And now I have to do that with less ammo, no reticle, no radar, and no checkpoints? I beat Metroid Dread recently on Dread mode, where you die in one hit from anything, and it was a complete slog, but at least there were save/check points everywhere. There's another thing I picked up from playing Halo again this time: the 2 weapon system works way better in this game than anything later. There were a lot of situations where I'd pick up a different gun just for a few minutes to deal with an encounter before going back to what I had previously. Weapons are both powerful and situational enough to where I didn't feel married to the noob combo all game. Even the Needler had time to shine because it's pretty good at killing Elites from far away.
