i've never found xiv gameplay to be very 'flowy' in general though, if dnc appeals to you then you may also enjoy archer/bard

melee may be hit or miss for you, try dragoon, monk, MAYBE samurai, maybe viper, though you can't unlock that one for a long time (or if you don't have dawntrail on your account)
but just experiment. you may hate jobs now that you change your mind about later on... also the 1-50 experience is largely the same on most jobs. you won't really start to see them get interesting until later expansions/levels

as long as you meet the unlock requirements, you can start them at any time, and you can swap to whatever job you want to play (not in the middle of combat/dungeons/etc. obviously)
all four roles are available (tank, healer, melee, physical ranged, magical ranged), so other than the pain of having to level them up, you're free to switch back and forth your hearts' content
i sympathize because i came back to this game four years playing arcanist and it was actually pretty dreadful for me, but swapping to a different job like ninja felt a lot better and i was able to progress smoothly through the main scenario

I disagree with this. I think Reddit in the way it goes about formatting is better for fostering discussion, but it is presently worse for discussion because essentially moderation will remove basically any post they don't like. So a lot of "discussions" have one side of the argument unable to make their case without being banned and their message saying "removed by moderator".

TLDR - Reddit is way better formatted for discussion but the authoritarian nature of moderators, especially with political topics, render it to be basically "one side says whatever they fucking want and the other gets banned on sight for even disagreeing"
