I think in the present, Spamton is more obsessed than Tenna.
Think about it, while Tenna more openly harbours resentment towards Spamton, it's more along the lines of "I wish we never met in the first place". While the breakup did badly affect him, it's only one part of a bunch of other incidents that caused his life to spiral. He's also hung up the Holidays and Dreemurrs no longer watching him

Carol is aware of the prophecy in it's (near) entirety and not only that but knew it before anyone else. Her entire persona past a certain point is crafted, build up upon trying to fufil events that will be the best for everyone.
However her personality, the one that attracted eternal smiling Rudy was warped by this attempt and as things went wrong it partially morally corrupted her past her mask.
Here comes Dess. A punk survivalist who's tough as can be. She's the perfect candidate to actually survive the trials and hard choices needed for someone to make the prophecy turn out happily. Carol teaches her things she never teaches Noelle, or even lets her get the hint of knowing. In order to ensure Noelle is kept out she literally keeps her out of the house sometimes.
A crucial event is orchestrated by the Prophecy team, with Dess playing a carefully cultivated and well-practiced role. Everyone's rooting for her but it's something she has to do alone to get this prophecy working and off the rails.
But Kris came.
Attracted to the cool girl, young Kris fucked everything up. Not intentionally of course, but with some choices that even then he knew were wrong. A temptation he shouldn't have ever had to face, or a test not many can beat but everyone should be able to.
Dess isn't the knight, they're fucking scattered to oblivion. But unlike Gaster, Carol's fail-safes mean she has a solid chance to return. So Kris works together to get that to happen. She's still the best candidate to unseat the prophecy. But Kris is kinda a horrible person. And failing that test wasn't the end. When they fucked everything up someone else offered them a third way. FRIEND, Gaster, Chronos, Chara it doesn't really matter. Now Kris is scheming against Carol to get everything they wanted.

And so kris becomes a living puppet, enslaved. the fountains open. kris gets to be the hero, the champion of the prophecy. But kris is quickly learning what real friendship is, that the knight does not have their best interests in mind. But it's too late to turn back, the knight got what it wanted. They must accept everything that will happen from now on.

The issue is simply but, it feels boring because it serves neither character. Susie has become a much more open and happier person because of her adventures with Kris, Ralsei and the other darkners enough so you don't need Noelle being nice to her as an explanation to sustain her character growth. You could say Noelle feels inspired by Susie to enjoy the fun of danger and excitement, but that's not what really happens, all the action she gets is alongside Kris in Chapter 2, she just exposes her feelings to Susie but the writing wants to pretend Noelle is developing because of their bond on exposition alone.
Basically Toby accidentaly made everything in the story better than Suselle and it's ultimately kind of a superfluous feature in the story hamfisted into having more importance than it deserves.
