venomancer is seriously op, leveling poison sting first, getting a bracer into arcane boots

the amount of pressure you put on the enemy is absurd, hit them once and you're hitting them for 16 damage per second for 9 seconds with level 2 poison sting probably the strongest hero in the game in the first 10 minutes to 20 minutes

I had the same vibes. I came from a ~10 year hiatus (used to be 5k sometime in 2014). Guardian I is absolutely nightmarish at times since people will do the most ridiculous builds. If you play a "normal" pos 5 here you will just lose and it took me 2-3 weeks to learn that and climb out to Crusader. Once you're there people actually do stuff where playing a regular pos 5 can actually make a difference. But the stomps are definitely harder too, if you play sloppy, you will get punished much faster.

is lone druid a 3 star complexity character?

it would be good for my ego if no one else knew how to play it, but the truth is you just attack things, you make sure the bear moves through the chokepoint first and you click attack, you try to trap characters with your root, be generally sneaky and ambush people, you click ult when your health is half or less, generally

Depends on how comfortable you are with 2 unit micro I suppose. The hero certainly has a high skill ceiling in terms of what you can achieve with good control, much more so than pseudo-micro heroes like PL but less so than Meepo or even Naga in terms of macro control at least. The star rating isn't granular enough to be particularly useful really, just because a hero is super easy to play in terms of pressing buttons doesn't necessarily mean they're easy to play in a game of dota. Lots of 5 pos heroes fall into that sort of category, easy in theory but extremely reliant on careful positioning, timing and decision making to actually do anything at all useful in a team fight or the game more generally.

I can't understand how warlock of all heroes is a 1 star difficulty character, I played 2 games with it and went 0-8 and 1-8, I understand it's a support but even when I face it some guys just destroy with him

I've gotten better I'd say since then but I still think without a doubt warlock is harder to use than druid

generally when I play druid I have bear and druid selected at the same time, I maneuver them so the bear goes through the chokepoints first always, it's pretty easy because the bear is significantly faster than druid so this naturally happens, it's basically like controlling 1 unit, I'll only micro them individually if druid is low health and I'm running away and I need the bear to root a pursuer so I can escape

generally microing them 1 at a time isn't necessary

also bear necessities makes you similar or higher level of tankiness than the bear in the late game, even before transformation, as soon as you get butterfly and bracer basically

Sylla has the benefit of being quite tanky so mistakes are less punishing than on a glass cannon hero. You certainly don't need to micro both units simultaneously, but there is a lot of benefit to doing so especially in the early game. You can go into the practice lobby thing and try chasing down an enemy hero with both the druid and bear just auto attacking, then with you animation cancelling auto attacks on one of the units and then again animation cancelling on both and you'd be surprised at how much more damage you're able to do. LD is the sort of hero with a fairly low skill floor, in that if you have any sort of plan it is pretty hard to do badly, but he has a fairly high skill ceiling.

Yeah, interrupting the attack animation post-attack with a move command or something and then immediately starting a new attack so that you hit faster. There's lots of little tricks you can employ to optimise your damage because sylla in ranged form and the bear don't have synchronised attacks. Slightly delaying the bear animation when going for a last hit so that it arrives simultaneously with the ranged attack ensuring that the cs can't be denied for example.

More fun would be the goofier heroes who don't really fit the aesthetic idea of a souls game. When I was first climbing out, I noticed that every time I had competent supports who did *AMAZING* things like rotate to help me out mid once or twice, and buy wards and shit, they were Legend+. Not all of the Legend+ supports were useful but like, 50% of them were. They turned games around by themselves and I really appreciated having them around. The lower ranked supports were 90% worthless retards with the occasional good support. A decent number of the lower ranked ones were also clearly trying and wanted to help and didn't know how and I didn't hold it against them. But the fuckwads were the majority and by god they were also insufferable whiners who'd bitch and moan if I don't throw the game the way they wanted me to.

Archon is still super shitter territory but you are in range to get Legend players who might not suck so I can believe that games are a little easier.

Is it just me or is Gyro just an auto-lose carry these days? Theoretically there's nothing wrong with his damage output but I never see him actually carry anymore. d2pt says he only has a 48% winrate so it's not just me. But I guess 48% is higher than what you'd expect from an auto-lose character. I can't really see when he would be good though. He's squishy as fuck, needs 500 items, he's slow, has a short attack range on par with lv 1 TA so needs a lance/pike too, and he doesn't have any damage mitigation like a lot of the better carries. So unless he's facing a zoo comp, I'm having a hard time justifying picking him.

Which facet do you go on mid Ember Spirit? Red facet is very good for the laning which is important for Ember since he doesn't want to fall behind. I feel like the Chain gang facet is made for non-pos 2 Ember.

I've been trying to practice my supports for when I run out of role queue games and I've figured that venomancer is my best by far, put up similar performances to druid, because you can basically carry with him no matter what

as someone who's played the game for 10 years you can't relate to someone just getting the game for the first time and trying all the heroes to see what works before playing ranked, obviously there is an archtype of character I am really good with, high action, pushing the pace and tower attacking

At guardian/crusader level there's an extremely small percentage of players who can genuinely lead and call. Problem is that it alone isn't enough to 1v5 the enemy team if Medusa comes online. Too much HP to burn through for one person. It's not impossible but this would be a test of how much of a good pos 1 you are with farming and taking good fights and avoiding bad ones so that you stay on top for most of the game. Your team also just needs to avoid big 4v4 or 5v5 brawls because that's where the enemy team is strongest. They would have to focus on pickoffs (on QoP and Lion mostly) and never let the enemy team be together and grouped up. I would also say split push but they have Medusa who would take every opportunity to afk farm by herself because she's confident she'll outlive any gank attempt so that's not the best plan. If you could keep Lion, QoP, or both out of every fight, you would be able to win against this.
