In most content, you just need to drop a fat persistent AOE in the part of the room where enemies spawn and that solves the whole encounter. Jayber's current problem is that the turrets can't cover every spawn but that's an issue of range more so than his turrets being stationary.
Meanwhile, every other colossus rapid spams AOE-centred-DOTs, or drops an AOE centred on every players current position, which players can usually avoid just by jogging to the side but causes turrets to rapidly die no matter how hard you spam multigun into them.

Fellow is the best QOL you can get yourself in this game, I would highly recommend grabbing him after the story.

It'll take unfeasibly long to go through all the drops in the missions with 1000+ enemies so the auto dismantle is really good, and auto pickup is very useful for any form of low APM farming. When you get around to rolling golds on everything you'll appreciate all the extra resources from the passive auto dismantling.
