You also cannot overlook how fucked servers were on Vow, the entire thing was really who got kicked the least and where specifically. I was kicked at least 5 times in the opening section having to redo it, 3 during first encounter, weirdly stability for caretaker, and then more crashes on exhibition. I would bet all the money in world Datto's team wouldn't be top 50 if servers had any normalcy. I also can vaguely buy conspiracy Bungie intentionally fucked with servers to force a grudge match of old vs new with Salt and Datto. Datto's team was long washed by that point and even Datto himself further exemplified being the worst guy on that team by a long shot. The game became the consequence of going on for too long. The idea was more novel in a more innocent time, Bungie didn't need to work as hard because skirting on a hybrid formula was the easy part. Now? it's a balancing act of trying to retain people who basically grew up on Destiny, and old fuckers who don't want intensity because they're washed, so it leads to this hot cold design philosophy loaded with inconsistencies. And then there's the whole addict behavior which turns people into mush, fucking content retards saying "yeah bro we gotta have Bungie go insane and give us more intense contest modes like WoW', and then the suggestion of "ok go play WoW" and that just sets them off. They want to be master of something that's never been that insane of a game nor needed to be, but they thirst for it. The Oblivion approach to difficulty fucking sucks. I've been playing Oblivion for a few weeks now, their difficulty is literally just an incoming/outgoing damage multiplier. If it is set to easiest, your damage is x6, and enemy's damage is 1/6. If you set it to hardest, it will be in reverse, you infilct 1/6 damage, and enemies will whack you with x6.

Gear you can get today will in some cases be way better than armor you'll get in Edge of Fate for several reason:

In the short term what this means is that you can farm "illegal stats" today such as 30 mobility and 30 intellect which will convert 1 to 1 into weapon and super stats that you will not be able to get in the new armor system.

Why are people going nuts over "illegal" armor combos? That stuff is going to be tier 2 at best, and avant garde will cuck you out of it anyway. After 10 years of making Destiny, Bungie has perfected the live service model. They've been lowering the amount and cuality of content made while also increasing the amount they nickel and dime from the player base for years now. My guess is that Bungie expected Marathon to be the next big thing and thus felt confortable trying to use Destiny for one last experiment. I fully believe that EoF and renegades are an attempt at creating the ultimate slop factory, and that they planned to pass on this knowlage to the Marathon team to also turn it into another slop factory while they focused on their other newer proyects.People often say Bungie is just trying to increase their profit margings on the short term, I disagree. They want to create the ultimate live service model and my guess is that this is the reason why Sony payed so fucking much for them. At this point it's not about the money, it's pure fucking malice.

The suspicions that Marathon was going to be an intentional dud coasting on vibes, be some life raft for already starved pvp crowd, and new jumping off point for a playerbase that doesn't really exist(casual extract fans who also like heavy pvping) is pretty much true. I played it and it felt way too much like a BR and I couldn't see some casuals turning into extract or pvp converts in this game unless Bungie did some babyfence outlier heavy sbmm nonsense.

"Illegal" armor rolls that you can farm right now will also let you bypass the shitty armor archetype system at the cost of not getting the bonus passives. That can be important to give you an edge to make farming T3~5 armor a bit easier. Yes, avant garde will still fuck you over in the long term, but in the short term you'll be rocking T3~4 equivalent armor on Day 1, including in Contest Mode.

Sisters it just dawned on me how Bungie act like they cured cancer having a special animation for summoning the hammer in that livestream and like it was this big deal....I literally used to make unique handling-holstering animations mods for New Vegas pre-trans, I'm in the wrong fucking business. That's where I think the real Bungie hustle comes in, they've depraved the game of so much that the most minimal things get sold as grandiose and cutting edge.

I think reddit destiny is the surest source for gauging the quality of an expansion/season. They don't hesitate to say unambiguously when it's crap. They also tend to take themselves seriously and produce long, detailed analyses, not just memes.What's more, since the sub is active and well moderated (actively by the mods and passively by votes), you can really average out the opinions and not just rely on one or two opinions without comment to qualify.

I've never looked at or taken streamers seriously, because on the one hand the vast majority of them are average players with little education (I know there's at least one, whose name I don't know, who solo dungeons and even raids quite well, and I consider him to be above average) and on the other hand their expressions are monetized and therefore never objective.

It might not be super flashy but I could see Phoenix Cradle on Titan being a bit nice, you can make sunspot off keyword buff so if you got No Hesitation that gives Resto out for just playing the game, you theoretically probably could get it to proc plenty and it has more mobility in play than feeling like you gotta be glued in one spot. This whole argument falls apart once you realize Forsaken had twice the amount of QoL while also being one of Destiny's biggest expansions. Forsaken added triumphs, collections, titles and reworked the entire fucking game to replace the 2 primaries system in favor of the classical one. The leghts Bungie rape victims will go to defend this company are mind blowing. The portal "system" is just a menu rework. Idie games without even a tenth of Bungie's bugget regularly rework their menu's, it's not a selling point. The new armor system is a nothing burger. It doesn't fundamentally change the sandbox, it's just that now you will now have to regrind your armor and ajust your bulids to fit into the changes made. Shills are going crazy over the weapon damage/super damage stats. The thing is that we have already seen this happen several times before. Bungies response to the solar rework was just to doble the amount of health bosses had in Ghost of the Deep and content beyond. Next seasson they'll pump up the numbers by 20% and the game will go back to the same shit (as long as you grind for the damage armor you will quick swap to when the dps pahse starts lol). WoW only has a grind if you want your gear to be at the absolute bleeding edge, which usually just means running one dungeon a lot for specific trinkets. Getting a character leveled from 1 and geared enough to do most content will probably take 5 days, less if there's specific events running or it's late in a patch. The MMO grind is so you can go do better content. And different tiers of content give you different tiers of gear, which enable you to tackle higher tiers of content.
With Destiny, that still sorta holds true with needing certain light levels to tackle certain content. But the implementation is in reverse. The grind is not there to do the content. The content is there to do the grind. The grind is everything, because all Bungie cares about is engagement metrics and extending gameplay time as long as possible to maximize the chances of you buying microtransactions.

I don't even know how the clan system could be improved in Destiny desu outside of just granting rewards for playing in a clan. Destiny isn't a super large scale MMO so traditional shit like clan wars over territory or something like that is basically impossible because as you mentioned the game shitting itself when there is more than 12 players.

I think the only kind of solution would be something like a mesh of a new player guide/sherpa system and mixing that with clan systems and guardian ranks. The higher the average guardian rank of your clan members are will increase clan benefits, while helping players of a lower rank increase theirs compared to the average would grant vastly better rewards/benefits to prevent just locking out lower ranks from clans and just having a clique. Clan benefits should be something that is generally helpful rather than some useless junk so something like...

There could be technical reasons they don't want to make strikes, or maybe they don't see the point in making F2P content.

Didn't touch rev, finished the heresy story but the resolve quests still aren't done, idk if I can speedrun getting the dyad smg in the next few hours.
My vault is a mess, and I still have engrams to decrypt. I know I'm probably keeping weapons I'm never gonna use, but they are staying just in case. I'm not an avid pvp fan, but I've got a page of 4-5/5 pvp guns even though the last time I actively played crucible was when revoker was a thing.

Start with Heresy's questline to get the tome of want, then set it up to focus the healing auto, area denial GL and wave sword (if you are a titan).

Then do the Echoes questline to unlock battlegrounds and farm those for red borders of Lost Signal and Aberrant Action (keep non-red border rolls because they can be converted with harmonizers in case red borders are hard to get next season)
Also do NES questlines to unlock weapon focusing. Look up online which is which to not waste time
Focus extra Echoes engrams into Perfect Paradox for a 1-2 Punch roll you're happy with

Forget exotic missions now. You should be able to pick up the exotics + catalysts next season.

Check over the original Onslaught loot list to see if anything catches your eye. Right now you can attune it at Zavala and farm it.
You can rocket jump with mountaintop now, so you may want to grab the auto-loading holster + recombination roll on it. If you only care about rocket jumping, the original version also works and is obtainable from the Monument to Lost Lights in the tower
