I didn't quite earn them as I took the lazy route late in the season.

The enjoyment of the whole may be slightly diminished by this event, you have the thing, but you will also instead of having the thing as a thing you got despite the odds, be a thing you got when the odds were fudged.

I've been leveling with a buddy for pas several days from level 1.
If you enable level sync, you get a (fairly high) chance to get an extra bag on top of any other quest reward, that gets you a piece of leveled gear.
