I started reading a nukige with the most zoomer translation I’ve ever seen, it was horrific. They must have said “not gonna lie” at least ten times up to the first h-scene, overuse of the words like and literally, frickin’, adding in too much swearing, the hag heroine saying “your cock has no chill” and other stuff I’m glad I can’t remember. The worst part is the MC is in his thirties, no one that old speaks like that. They clearly made up so much stuff you can barely call it a translation, it’s a guy going wild and writing what he thinks sounds good instead of a direct translation of the text. If this is the direction translations are going in I’d rather MTL things, it’s more accurate than made up bullshit added in and far less obnoxious.

It's a pretty good starting point, except for one major event it's pretty isolated, and it gives you a great view of the series' strengths.
With the exception of 10 and maybe Kichikou you can kinda play them in whatever order really, there's always returning characters that you'll understand better having played previous entries, but it's never a necessity, and considering that 01 is good but pretty tame (the series was just a different, much simpler affair back then), 2 is dogshit (in every way), 4 is really outdated, and 5 is dogshit (gameplay wise, playing them in linear order isn't necessarily the best choice.
