If you unironically want a popoff start the wilderness is where to do it. There's 3 big loot piñatas out there, and you can cheese the absolute fuck out of them. The wilderness weapons are crazy busted, and if you run them on purpose built new account your combat level is so low most people you'll encounter can't hit you. Either get 60 attack and strength for killing vetion with the chainmace, or 78 magic to kill callisto (boost with potion for ice blitz). On my regular osra account I bought 400 million and had 83 construction by lvl 20. I was farming sand crabs with the BiS item at all times. Full bandos as soon as it was unlocked. Doing early slayer with super divines, BiS boots and amulets before lvl 70. God it felt good but ultimately it was hollow and I lost interest. When you can buy the mats and high lvls are just time gates, everything starts to feel like a checklist.

There are phases to this. Because if you want to play the game at all you must do many quests and grinds. And if you want to do bossing triple that amount. If you're a noob playing iron is just asking to get bricked at lvl 75+ skills. You don't know how good you have it yet. You can't even begin to play Ironman if you don't know the game in and out. The wiki is half the fun by the way. The game is solved but that doesn't mean you can't find tons of arbitrage just by browsing the wiki. Also being able to trade is the main focus of the game.

i cant sugarcoat how shit of a pill it is to swallow that you are required to sit through 2 decades of broken ass bullshit quests and then at the end of that you are going to have to bite the bullet and literally "afk" train your combat skills up before shit gets actually interesting, but if you care and can stick with it there definitely is something here worth experiencing. the pvm in this is something like a rhythm game and maximally it is very fun to learn

I honestly feel like my f2p experience was better than my members experience. Because it was more contained, there were way more active players and felt like a MMO.
I barely see anyone as im questing and I almost never interact with them.
There is good in this game but I can't help but feel like it suffered the same problems retail WoW did with vertical progression with its expansions. Every new xpac adds a new continent or land, thus making the older zones a ghost town

Very good post. I think it also speaks to where we are now in gaming culture, and the reason Ironman exists. There is so much side content in rs and small goals that build to larger ones. But for the sake of efficiency most a players don't even know that shit exists unless they were around during its release. There's no sense of exploration, they just see end game raids and demand a guide to get there as fast as possible. Not realizing a real toa account is 3k hours deep minimum. You won't raid in 6 months unless you rush and play like a madman.

yeah that is true but eventually you will come to the realization that this is pretty much not an mmo anymore in the same sense as eq clones like wow, its a single player game where you are playing in the same world as other players. grouping is not incentivized at all until very late in the game and then its pretty much forced unless you want shit to take 2 or 3 times as long. do not let this make you think playing ironman is a good idea though, because even though you might not be playing with those players in combat or adventuring, you are trading with them and that commerce is the one true thing that ties you to the game world. you can look at it like being a cog in the machine or you can look at it like its an equivalent exchange machine that you control and can freely move the value you generate by playing around into whatever you want, and you WILL have to do that if you want to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time
