Reasons why Danketsu games never work
>Story is shit
Usually these are made for fanservice so there's never a good story. Don't even pretend Koharu and Aya made any sense. Even then, imas was never about the plot but more on the character writing however...

Because they want to include as many people as possible, characters are usually flanderized or very safe. You're not getting any conflicts from anyone to avoid people looking bad. You can't get any character development because no one is in a "canon" game. There's also that their main writers can't write for them.
>Music will be lacking
One of the main reasons to play imas and it's prob gonna be bad. While StS did get songs, in general, they're just going to concentrate on bringing in existing ones instead of new songs. Even then like with StS, any new songs will just be "generic unit songs" anyone can sign which means you lose any sort of character nuances.

I feel like this is just a given at this point especially if it's by Bamco.
In the end, why even want this when the only reason is to see possible character interactions but they'll always be either flanderized or just watered down.

The Choucho Musubi full is pretty good, it is the shortest anniversary song so far so there isn't much new outside of the game size (7Days had a nice D part that improved it for example), but a compact anime-style song is nice once in a while too.
I do like the little Glow Map callback at 1:35 though.

Obviously a big part of it is that neither needs to share the profits with the other anymore (Namco especially because they use Asobi for TD/SfP to not only not have to share with another company, but to sidestep Apple/Google entirely, hence the better jewel deals on Asobi) but they've also both gone their separate ways from CG for the most part.
All of the internal iM@S stuff at Namco has always been focused on smaller cast sizes, which they further expanded on with SC and GK, whereas Cygames used their "wide cast" experience from CG and other games like GF to make Uma, which is basically what a sequel game to SS would've been in basically every way but branding (huge cast, improved graphics/gameplay loop, emphasized character focus, etc.). Doing a full-scale CG "revival" in 2025+ just doesn't make much sense to either company.
Why would Namco want to split profits with Cygames again, lose their Asobi jewel bonus programs, all just to have to spend an absolute fuckton of cash with something that doesn't really align with what they want to do with iM@S?

Personally, CGs strength has always come from the passionate community. They were the ones who usually added nuance and stories to the idols which were usually just made canon and added later on. That's why P's are always so passionate and attached to them because a lot of CG idols were made from the ground up by both fans and the creators. Kotoha is obsessively prepping for what she calls a date with P. After she leaves for the meetup location, Takane, Serika, Yuriko, and Tsumugi come into the room and talk about how happy she looks. P then also comes in as he has a bit of work to do, but the other idols tell him to focus on the date and just go now. They hope it goes well, as Yuriko starts imagining the DATE.
P then meets up with Kotoha to go see a stage play together. As for why this is happening, we flash back to several weeks before, prior to a meeting about the upcoming Theater performance.
P has news that Kotoha has received an offer to be part of the main cast for a morning serialized drama as the child of the main character. She happily accepts this as the other idols encourage her.
A few weeks after that, Kotoha is a the cast announcement press event as she marvels at all the veterans and becomes very nervous. As she tries to ask for advice from the lead actor Akiyo, she's coldly brushed off as someone who only got the role because she's an idol and only has to look cute as nobody expects anything from her acting skills.
During the car ride back, P can tell something is up, but Kotoha won't say anything, so he decides to keep an eye on things. The next day, the other idols can also tell something's wrong and Kotoha tells them about what happened. Tsumugi of all people recommends talking with P about it, and the others agree.
A few days later, Akiyo asks why Kotoha is so earnestly practicing her lines, and she responds that she likes acting and wants to prove that she was the right choice for this role, even if the reason for her being chosen may have been different. Akiyo then asks why she doesn't just quit being an idol and become an actor then if she likes it so much. This ends up affecting her performance at rehearsals afterward as she makes mistakes.

As they walk back to the Theater, Kotoha thanks P for his message, saying it reminded her that he was the one who chose her to be an idol. She apologizes and then explains the situation. P admits that the possibility that she was only chosen for the role because she's an idol is not zero, but this is still an opportunity to reach a new area of drama fans. Kotoha brings up the article that was written in which she was introduced as a bright new star. She says she's not that impressive and her true self is uneasy and becomes depressed when things don't go well. But despite this, P made her an idol anyway, so she wants to stay as one. He asks if she's only here now because of that sense of responsibility to him, and she says it's of her own accord to want to stand up onstage as an idol. P sees in her eyes that she won't falter anymore, and wishes her the best tomorrow.

Kotoha gives a stellar acting performance while filming the drama, receiving praise from the staff. Akiyo later gives her a ticket to a stage play she's starring in to help as a reference.
They finish watching the play and are about to head to the dressing room for greetings as P reflects on this outing. The other idols told him that reward dates are important, so he just went with that. Kotoha gives an overly enthusiastic review of how great the performance was, which makes Akiyo chuckle at how much she can tell Kotoha likes stage plays. Although she's embarrassed, she'll strive to improve even more and become someone people can look up to.
Kotoha admits that she was scared and uncertain if people would discover her if she wasn't an idol, but wants to continue being an idol all the same because she likes it. P tells her not to worry, because he'd definitely find her and turn her into an idol no matter how many times it takes.
