Digimon games pander too much to genwunners/boomers and trying to milk nostalgia instead of giving the spotlight to new stuff which makes it hard to get excited for anything when majority of it is the same stuff over and over again.

One thing Pokemon does right is pushing their new stuff hard whenever a new generation comes out. Digimon would rather milk Omnimon, Beelzemon, Imperialdramon, etc. for the billionth time rather than giving more attention to the new mons. By the time the Shambala guys appear in a game they will already be considered old.

In Renamon's case it has absolutely nothing to do with FGO. It's a result of the character's popularity among furries. Renamon has always been a very popular character among those circles, with a reputation of being "the thing that turned kids growing up in the 2000s into furries". Its design became known and liked by people who never watched Tamers in their lives and had no intention of ever doing so since for all they know and care Digimon is just some pokemon ripoff from 20 years ago that happened to have the iconic yellow fox character in it.
A similar case is Krystal, though Renamon's case is arguably worse since at least most furries seem to know some context behind Krystal like her association with lizards and other Star Fox characters existing, while Renamon's status as the sole Digimon thing furries care about is something they don't really try to hide and even joke about sometimes, like I've seen Renamon being portrayed as a honorary Pokemon more than once.
