I don't have any idea what EN is calling strategies but for instance you'd probably want to swap SR Sweepy out for SR Flash when training the second further back position,
Power Amazon has some good hints for the further back position.

By the way, you can't quickly skip each race from the training screen so you need to load in -> skip -> view results for every single race. In my limited experience, it's been pretty annoying to try and inform clueless people about the raising sim genre. There's a lot of people that instantly take it in bad faith when you tell them about the gamplay loop, calling it a "spreadsheet simulator" or asking stupid loaded questions like "So when's the actual gameplay?" It wasn't as bad when Monster Rancher was kind of the modern poster child of raising sims in the West because the goofiness of those games kind of sands over a lot of the complaints. But for uma, where people are already inclined to performatively shit on it because cute girls and gacha, it's much harder to convince some people that it's just a part of a wider, but niche genre.
