They would need to take more than just an individual champion into account. A vayne vs a mundo would have a much higher damage number than a vayne vs a jayce. Dota 2 did the thing with its unranked MMR at one point which it took into account CC score, damage KDA etc, the prevalent way to rack up high scores was in league terms, pick Karthus and just turbofarm jungle and spam ult until the game ended.

In valorant every champ plays the same way, there's an obvious optimal way to play it and you can't just run away from the fighting the entire for 50 minutes like you can in league

I play engage supports I get jhin adcs every game, every other lane is normal, I decide to start playing xerath supp suddenly my team gets tristana/jinx every game teemo jg or top, etc, enemy team has azir/xerath mid laners, bard support pressing r on me every time I ult, just crazy shit, never saw a bard in like 1000 support games I was last pick too. I started getting afkers/dcers/accounts called shit like "baus disciple/shit account/ etc" literal stuff that I have never seen while queueing engage only supports/enchanters like nami.

By the way, if you played dota 2 you know that they have an underlying system called behavior mmr, in league it's the same thing, honor is just a visual thing like "rank" but underlying they have an mmr that is way harder to change than honor level, if you are toxic/afk/grief/int etc, that system will influence your teammates as well.

Riot has two patents around making their solo queue system matching together said players with low behavior mmr, but the opposite team does not necessarily have to be matched against other players with said behavior mmr, meaning, if you have a 'bad account' it's cursed to have less than 50% chance to win per game due to afkers/inters/griefers every game (being toxic in chat alone shouldn't really influence being put with people leaving the game but it does for whatever reason)

This is why some high elo players say they have "bad accounts", just like in dota 5 years can pass and your behavior mmr won't reset, as in dota there was a 10K range for the mmr and if you were in the let's say 3k range, you only get like 30 mmr per games where you are commended, not sure if they might have streaks but either way, griefers/inters/afkers aren't gonna be commending around, so yeah you will be stuck there forever.

Big complaint I have is there is no functional distinction between secondary role and primary role by the matchmaker, so team A could have 3 offrole, and team B could have 0. I personally preferred back in S1/S2 where it was kinda the expectation that you could play every lane semi-competently because it also fosters understanding of how other players on your team want to move and act (lets be honest though people were shit back then so it worked out). Nowadays you have literal challenger OTPs like dantes not comprehend how creepwaves work (I personally try and make it a point where I understand the frustration my teammates face but consequently my biggest weakness is champion mastery)

I did for awhile and got to the leaderboard which i GUESS you could say is equivalent of challenger (i am so unbelievably washed that I wouldn't be more than divine now). I personally feel like any league equivalent of behavior based matchmaking would be 10x more aggressive and bullshit. I personally believe if they want to combat toxicity they should have just introduced in game voice chat (many people who are actual assholes in game need to be reminded they are talking to a person), and reduce snowballing advantage in toplane and weaken the jungle role in a way that means that they aren't plausible responsible for winning 3 different lanes.

There's a million different ways you cant detect a person's performance outside of just the numbers the game gives you up front.

For instance, a player who is mechanically inept but extremely good at predictions and decision making could be considered a "better player" than a player who understands how to 1v3 as Irelia but loses 2 Void Grubs in the process.

A Singed with a low APM but high win rate can be considered a better player than a player with a high APM but low win rate. A player that AFKs for 15 to 30s after each death (showing frustration, tilt, etc) despite ultimately winning the game can still be branded as "toxic" in some spheres; whereas a player who insta runs back to die again could be labeled as someone trying their best.

In my opinion, there's only a few metrics that actually truly matter when it comes to this game.

>over 100cs average, preferably more
>3+ control wards per game
>conservative but effective use of pings
>low, if any, rage quit games

The game appears to care more about how "serious" you are about playing it at a somewhat competitive level, not as a teehee time sink.

Redownloaded after not playing for a while. I got through some bot matches fine, just to remember how shit goes, then I queued up some ARAM. For some reason it would let me get through queue accept, I'd get to character select, it would wait down the timer and then I'd get kicked because "someone declined to accept the queue"

Then yes as others have stated, there was more build diversity back then than now. Example at worlds 2012 - Shy picking Yorick vs Stanley as Nidalee. Lane is mostly an even matchup but Yorick would outscale until Nidalee makes a chalice purchase, neutralizes one of yoricks win conditions (sustain) with Nidalee (endless mana, E spam). Over the years, building vs the lane has been outpaced for just building the most efficent core items that are unchanging every game. You just build the same shit each matchup, dont put much thought into it, and if you lose the game you go next and blame the bad matchup/team.
