netorare danchou reporting in, i've talked to people in all of these platoons personally and can confirm they all seem like a good bunch of anons

personally i don't plan on quitting this game ever, and even if i died, this platoon has two of the best deputies i could ever ask for to take over. we churn inactives, but the core is so strong we're fine for the forseeable future but always looking for loyal members (yeah ironic i know).

i get not wanting to join us because of the stigma around the name, but it really is a good group of shikikans. i like talking to most of them on a pretty frequent basis and there's no pressure to perform in gunsmoke cause i know people hate the mode.

/gflex/ and GFLEX are just names. They're no more "official" than any of the other platoons on the list. There's a limit to how many members one platoon can hold, so it's only natural that several were founded. Especially at the beginning.
All that being said, both are by my reckoning decent platoons. I think we're full right now but you could reach out to either if you really want in. (Or just join one of the many other platoons.)

I think the Elmo is just getting too crowded and it's difficult to find a role for everyone in every story. You can click at the very top of the screen to see the enemy turn order and what attacks they're doing. From there you just have to further click into each effect to understand what it does.
There's a lot of counter-intuitive shit like deliberately tanking hits from the boss since the Gunsmoke mechanics causes it to debuff them, or inflicts a debuff on you that you cleanse to debuff the boss or buff your dolls in turn.

Platoons aren't important, but they do give you free stuff. There's no real point in never joining one.
The daily chores are optional, depending on the platoon. You can always just join one of the super casual ones that require basically nothing if you don't want the commitment.
Also, the dailies aren't really that difficult. You can just borrow a super powerful doll from a platoon mate (you get access to all their support dolls automatically) and let them do all the work. Especially for a low-level player it's pretty much effortless. Press auto and reap the rewards.
Things get a bit more complicated when you max out, but it greatly depends on your platoon and their rules.
Either way, I would recommend you join one ASAP. You can always leave if you don't like it.
