I think raiding in classic we had like two different occasions when pvpers sniped our summon spot for BWL and we had to raid without world buffs because everyone had to walk in and the entrance was camped. First week of AQ was a clusterfuck too, iirc. I think we got our summoning spot at Naxx camped once too.

Actually I just remembered what the worst camping experience I ever had was. It was on Benediction, a few weeks before the remaining horde all quit the server. They camped from the flight path of Caverns of Time to the entrance to Battle of Mount Hyjal. My raid started nearly an hour late because of it. You had to manually walk all the way through the cavern as a ghost and then die 20 yards from your body and it took people 4-6 deaths to get inside. It was fucking AWFUL.

I'm very new to WoW and MMOs in general, I think I got filtered by retail. I tried retail first, did the tutorial start and got shipped to dragon flight which was confusing as fuck. Switched to classic, had a blast going through the eastern kingdoms, got the level 60 just questing through there. Decided to try retail and quest through Kalimdor and had an awful time and I'm not sure why.

yeah that can be a factor. unlike dps who you would expect to improve their parses over time, your healing parses are likely to decline over the course of a phase as your group gets more adept at mechanics and more geared - unless your raid drop the number of healers as the phase progresses.
reasons like that are why healing parses are not a great metric to judge by. like pointed out, you can make some assumptions like an orange parsing healer is good at what they do, and I probably wouldn't want to see all grey parses. but it doesn't tell the full story.
to get an accurate evaluation of your skill you have to look at how you're doing against other healers in your group, how you're doing against other healers of your spec in similar groups to yours. and also just how you handle tight situations, which you have to judge on the fly or look deeper into the logs to figure out.
