The iron bell is tolling as the cash shop is inundated with mid-tier or old outfits for $40 to make up for cratered subscriber population, loot drops for new content is just old loot from past expansion content, and mogpendium content isn't popping at all despite the "incentive" of getting yet another earring you're never going to wear.

Hardcore raiders have been shafted w/ cancellation of Ultimate and no new raid content until Jan. Mid-core players have been shafted w/ "Chaotic" raid that body-checks (SE doesn't know how to make content "hard" aside from punishing a lack of perfection), and now with the Field Operation raid that body checks with 48 players (they forgot what made Baldesion Arsenal and Bozja good). They're re-releasing Potd for the 4th time, and Variant/Criterion dungeons - which they promised more of, are nowhere to be found. The new Blu content is going to be "beat Pandemonium raids" and only 500 people will do it. The Beast Master content is going to be a copy-paste of Blu.

The devs got mad at us during the last live letter for not playing the content they made and said "sorry you didn't like it" instead of apologizing for letting 60 year old developers continue to make content that would have been popular in 1999; ignoring a quarter century of QoL improvements and changes that have occurred in the gaming industry since they made DQ3.

SE has extended the dev cycle by a month each patch to deliver us the least content we've gotten in over half a decade for the same price. Even the story - the main selling point of the game for years, is bad now.

The next dungeon will go like this: Pull 2 packs, kill, pull 2 more packs, kill, go to boss, repeat x3. The new trial will be in/out, left/right but with different graphics and some boss saying voice lines over it. The Alliance raid will nostalgia bait the 22 people who played FF11 and still play FF14. There will be a cutscene partway through the last boss fight - that's what makes it special.

There really isn't much left to say at this point. The game will continue on, a shambling corpse of what it once was. I think we will see Yoshi P. and the dev team double down on the harder content, focusing on the players who are still left and continuing to engage while the casual playerbase continues to fall by the wayside.
I have ZERO expectations this game lasts until 10.0 (at least not in its current form). I personally, think 8.0 will be the final true expansion if the trajectory continues as it is. I think we then see a shift to FFXI-type content- smaller story updates/patch cycles, as it goes into maintenance mode. The game will truly never die, but the cost/reward is dwindling.
I play for the story/world. So, if 8.0 is as much of a disappointment as Dawntrail was, I think for me it will be time to quit.

dw, parse chasing isn't even a native part of raiding, it's an autistic end fixation
if you like the story thus far, you will probably actually like crafting and gathering. the job quests for them, especially in arr, are pretty charming (past the first couple quests for all of them, which are basically just tutorials and not really quests)
beast tribes, and especially the crafter beast tribes, pretty much always have nice stories
it's not a huge or lengthy story, but doing your custom deliveries every week gives you nice story tid bits to progress through for certain npcs. and those are all really sweet, especially two of the ones from endwalker
and that's not to mention the other crafter contents to dive in to like ishgard restoration or outer space
i'd say it's worth it if you've had fun so far
worst case, you're out like 13 usd and a couple more hours of time, if you get overly bored or don't really end up liking any of it
having access to all normal duties is nice, though. always feels good to help with pfs listed here, or just in general.

Compare why Ironforge and Stormwind were such constantly bustling hubs of activity in old WoW compared to Teldrassil. The TLDR is there's a lot of reasons for the majority of players to naturally funnel in and congregate there.

And this might just be my opinion, but in general, free unrestricted worldwide teleportation will absolutely fucking kill the concept of hubs outside of RP servers. With the aforementioned WoW city examples, travel and the shit you want to take care of in the town is a commitment. Hell just fucking walking around the town takes time. In FFXIV it's just
