Sonic's band all had mono eyes too, maybe it's an Oshima thing. Ray, Mighty and the manga characters were illustrated by him shortly after Sonic 1 and feature the mono eye too. The 8-bit characters and Bark have the mono eye too but they were created by other Japanese artists probably trying to replicate Oshima's style of character design. There are exceptions of course like Espio and Honey. Bean too but he's based on the Dynamite Dux. As for the Kukku birds it's kinda hard to see if they're eyes are connected or not

It seems most classic characters that had the mono eye were created in Japan with heavy Oshima influence, which is why Tails is the first to have two separate eyes

I want to believe it too and I want to think that her being top three most played characters during the beta gave them a wakeup call, but all their other marketing has been pushing Rouge heavily and she's only gotten more incentive as Shadow is given more spotlight. Dream Team may have given cream more spotlight, but Rouge is still there plus mandatory Shadow dlc. Sxsg and dark beginnings cemented that the both of them are allies. Rouge was added to the Joypolis group this year, she's the only other female headlining the JP Crossworld's pre order set with Amy, she gets to be in the racing around the world promotion animation, the 35th anniversary renders, etc. I just dont think it's looking good for Cream at all at the moment.

You guys don't seem to realize the problem here. They're actively making Shadow hang around Sonic's friend group. Obviously they give him and Rouge different motivations, but the important factor here is the screentime. Shadow has very obviously been grouped with the cast as the 5th member these days even though he's not part of the team. They can't ignore his popularity. That's why he's the one who gets introduced after the core four in the Sonic and Friends tiktoks and pretty much all the new merch these days. But they also realize now they have way too many guys making the main cast with Amy the odd one out and Shadow now being a mandatory spot. So that's where Rouge comes in BECAUSE she's associated with him. 6 character main cast is already a lot, so Cream gets pushed out.

Oh, and someone *was* listening.
He's startled the first time – he almost falls off his wobbly chair from the "ping!" sound indicating a message had come in on the radio station's listener line. Sonic didn't expect that, but... he's happy? A message comes in asking him to talk about a specific thing he glossed over ("Meh, not important for the story, forget it, so anyway what happened next was...")
Sonic puffs up slightly as he reads the letter on air and starts to smile.

"Whoa dude, you guys are really listening? Awesome! About the letter, well..." He starts rambling on and on, going off on a tangent, then snaps back to reality and blushes slightly of embarrassment.
He stammered, cleared his throat. "Aw crap, sorry, got carried away!" He switches to a whisper, fumbling through papers with the schedule. "So uh... what's next... music break?"
He takes a rest, standing up to stretch and grab a soda. With the hiss of the can opening, the now-familiar "ping" sounds, and Sonic freezes, the drink halfway to his mouth. He slowly walks over to read the new message, which says that they really enjoy listening to him, he shouldn't stop, they'd happily listen to anything he says. Warm feeling builds inside Sonic, something he's been missing lately. Could things really be this good?
This goes on for weeks. Messages arrive with clockwork precision; he realizes he must have a devoted fan! Someone who consistently replaces any 's' in words with a capital 'S'.

Its organs have been pulled out for easier manipulation of the intestines, which have been arranged with rebar skewers into the outline of a heart.

Sonic calls the police, spends some time there; an investigation begins but proves useless. Everything is quiet and calm, as if the horror never happened. Sonic decides to return to work. He starts the broadcast apologizing for his absence and immediately gets a flood of messages from his familiar fan, plus a couple from other unknowns. His secret admirer is full of anxiety and questions: what happened, is he okay? Sonic sighs, running a paw over his quills, not going into great detail. He says there was just an emergency and he had to take some time off.
Then a message comes in from an unknown listener saying they supposedly heard about a murder in familiar district – wasn't the radio station office located there? Sonic hesitates and frowns, reluctantly replying that yes, the murder *was* the emergency. Messages start asking for details, to which Sonic reacts negatively now; thinking about it upsets him. The messages stop as if someone flipped a switch, after that only one comes from 'S'.

Knowing he's listening and waiting for a reaction, Sonic lets out a haughty "Ha-ha-ha, real funny." They have a brief spat where Sonic tells him to go mind his own business and stop spamming his broadcast.
So what awaits him? Another corpse and the realization that someone is definitely stalking his broadcasts. Will he start his own investigation and walk into the lion's den, or will fate turn differently, waiting until the lion is already at his doorstep? Who knows.
