- Mechanical theorycrafting autism. You have HP, recharging shield, some mechs additional shields. A few different damage and projectile types. Generally melee bypasses shield, snipers partially, most things hit shield first. Simple but tricky prediction-based parrying against melee which is deadly. Lots of mechanics based on locking on and disruption, free-aim is hard but possible. Locked on guns auto-hit targets that are stationary or moving in straight line, but cannot predict zig zag motion, obviously, it all makes logical sense. Everything is spelled out in numbers, capacities and regen rates, energy (stamina) characteristics, lock on range and speed, it's all there.

- Mechs are actually VERY different, one has ridiculous firepower but is sluggish in practice (turning speed limits), apparently some people like going fast with airplane so much they'd rather not do any significant damage, others like chasing them down with melee assassins. You have your all-purpose soloists, tanks and mechs with more weak spots to the point they need to be supported and protected by support mechs. Basically pick and choose the way you want to contribute to the team.

- Skillful cooldown and resource-management, similar to the dilemma of when to reload in FPS games but even more stuff to manage. Taking hits to shields to maximize regen value but avoid breaking it which triggers cooldown. There's often a balance between maximizing usage for maximum value, but also using things correctly situationally for better effectiveness. And multitasking everything together. Basically how to pilot a killing machine most effectively.

- Audiovisually satisfying gameplay and intense chaos, it's simply great

- Competitive 6v6 ranked objective mode (main), hardcore extraction mode with p2w potential (afterthought). Community marketplace, most items are sellable.

That's precisely why Inferno is so strong though, and why people have an erroneous perception of him. He hangs out with his team and ultra nuke rapes anyone who is tied up fighting someone else, and when someone targets him for death he feathers his Aux 3 over and over again to essentially get away for free. Inferno won't carry a bad team but in Champion there are no bad teams, and he becomes almost as ubiquitous a team pick as Welkin in the later tiers. Somewhat better. Weapons sell for more, a tier 3 gets 320 credits now from 150. Everyone getting a cargo rocket for completing a restricted zone is nice, I thought it was usable immediately until I looted one off someone. The new mission to find missing strikers trapped in corite activates an extract. I haven't tried it and don't know if that reward is only for extreme.

I am but all those passive defensives (walls, self heals, bubble heal) just melt instantly to sniper fire, they pretty much just exist to let me hopefully live long enough to reach another crystal as I'm gasping for energy

I'm thinking about maining Luminae just for the huge speed, but what little I played of Luminae it felt like you're constantly playing for your cooldowns, plus Pinaka has really cool strengths when not being relentlessly focused down (sneaky captures with walls, shotgun shreds really hard if you're able to survive being that close to a target, can top off fliers pretty easily)

Not a single Aquila or flyer etc. It was literally All Stellaris and Alysnes (me included) I ran into 3 of each one and not a single one of them had a good piece of loot just a bunch of paint. Had a moment where I was running through the center zone running from one Stellaris and then there was another at the end of the other tunnel (they died in a brutal greed fest fighting over trying to kill just me, but I just spun on both of them with a war hammer IV. That's what Serenith is supposed to be for, in addition to Skyraider. If anything, I think Serenith should be buffed a bit, the kit is conceptually strong but it's really costly to use and the reward doesn't really justify that and if you're using Serenith in the same niche as Skyraider (area denial, being a nusaince and delaying point captures/dismantles then Skyraider is a lot better for the job since you have an actual defensive option in flying and can spam rolls to shake off targeting in addition to abusing fastfall and generally having a better eye on the map since you're in the sky.

I imagine the most unappealing thing about Hurricane is that the Decoys, Turrets and Field Shield are static and don't follow you or allies, meaning Hurricane has to constantly pick up his shit or wait to recharge so he can drop a new one.
Because they're static, Hurricane basically has to squat on a spot to make them do anything of value, dramatically limiting its effectiveness anywhere other than on top of an objective or when camping with a mech like Tricera. Plus, given Hurricane is so slow, its Splitter has a long cooldown and Blaster a long charge time, it has a lot of (in)effective downtime.
There's honestly no reason why Hurricane's turn and movement speed is capped so hard while the Splitter Laser is active, either.

I like the new Mashmak change of being able to rocket things out after all the extracts are gone. There's been an increase in niggardly Stellaris lately in my extreme Mashmaks cowardmaxxing as 50 Stego and Tricera bots exclusively hound me down so I can't stop their stealth extracts. I notice the final spot almost comes to a halt in how slow it closes and it doesn't end until you die. I would've assumed it would've just gave you a timer to do your final things.

No, it's good design. Like every mech has an unique strength, Welkin is supposed to be "the most powerful one" frontliner. The cooldown increase means he will have more downtime, making him vulnerable and killable for smart enemies and reducing his tanking effectiveness (however if this is the only change, the CD increase needs to be massive big). If you just nerf his offensivity, he becomes like the other mechs.

Stellaris is in some ways the opposite of Welkin, he can hit and run at a fairly low cooldown, and then he needs to back down to recharge shield.

Minmax its speed and have it alternate between its two forms as part of its intended role.
It's the fastest of the planes in flight, but it has much longer cooldown to enter and exit compared to Falc/Raider's 2 second delay, so it can't turn on a dime and really fight while in the sky. Basically it would have to land and wait a before it can take off again.
Ultraheavy slow speed and a thick layer of fluid armor in mech mode, and Stealth (which will disable fluid armor) only in Flight Mode.

Had this messed up moment where a Welkin died at this boundary at the top right of the map and I dropped down to loot him, but its literally against the boundary and the collision is messed up so I couldn't reach him and I got stuck floating and unable to move while the abandoning combat timer counted down. Was unable to do anything and had to just die... or so I thought. Alynses has this funny interaction where the death penalty from being outside the zone for 10 seconds simply destroys his armored form, which then set me free from the bugged collision there and I was able to fly out.

I dunno, collecting these in Mashmak is pretty rewarding. Then there's the mission tokens you get on top of that, too. With it being a conversion of 10% of your mission points to tokens, you can look to maximize those points by knowing the value of points that mobs give.
2 - 5 per lil fodder, 10 per corite sample container, then typically 30 - 50 for things like drop ships, medium corite drllers and gen 3 strikers.

Ranked is such a rigged joke that casual mode is the real way to play now. I've been seeing some actual good players in there now
