It's more common than you think. Regenisis simply wasn't chosen to be a contender, thats it. It's weird because they fill the sets with so many of these garbage new archetypes and also bump their rarity, and are surprised when no one wants to waste money on their sets.

The ones that raided Artmage where the Special Assault Squadron “Doom-Z”: The pride of the armed nation “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G.”.

The Power Patron Machine Doom-Z, introduced to this era by Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction, seeks for a champion of the battlefield, then transforms into the “Doom-Z System” in order to grant it even further power.
D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G. succeeded in the mass production of Power Patron Machine Doom-Zs, although they were incomplete. These mass-produced, incomplete models wield red lightning, unlike the green from the original model.

“Medius” evolves through the power of the “Power Patron of Destruction“!!

In a desperate situation, held at gunpoint by Drastrius, Graflare rushes in to protect his friends. In his hand, he holds one of the mass-produced Doom-Z System machines, which only the Doom-Zs should have.

Generic searchable endboards aren't even the problem, its that those endboards have way to high stats.
It causes the eternal problem that you can't just remove the problem cards, because the problem cards are too strong, so you need to use effects to get enough stats on board to remove it.
But needing to use effects to get rid of the things that stop you using effects is the exact problem.
There is legit 0 balancing attempted within Konami. In an ideal world, generic powerful endboard pieces would have to give something up to have that power, likely stats. It would enable them to retain their strength whilst not be overwhelming and require the player to provide additional support for them to make sure they remain on field.
Instead Konami can and will put as high stats as possible, give them targeting and destruction protection, 5 other effects and add it all into a nice compact generic engine with no locks, then suddenly get surprised when it appears everywhere and they have to hit it.

Any ideas on how to thin this deck a bit while keeping the identity? I wanna mix Exodia wincon so drawing / scooping power + Obliterate floodgates are there, but I also want to make good use of all those cards to punch with Slifer, so there's Tribute fodder.
Destinies are there as Allure Fodder and a valid target for Future Fusion, also they could be tribute fodder or summon Plasma if I haven't drawn Slifer. And Dragoon is just the safest play.

I like all the branches and it does thin the deck quite quickly but it could be better.
This is for fighting a Sky Striker novice learning the game so it doesn't have to be TOO powerful, but I still want some consistency...

Exodia decks (focused on the Exodia wincon) come in two forms, deep draw or stall. Neither of those is looking to attack or summon monsters for that matter. All they care about is getting all 5 pieces to hand as quicky as possible. My advice would be to drop Slifer and focus on lost of floodgates or draw spells. If you want to play a deck focused on Slifer then you should build around him using the Divine Beast support. Your deck as is an old decrepit mess that will get you laughed out of a local.

It was the most fun 2 months of dueling I've had n a long time, but just recently some dudes at the local took a look at how the Sky Striker new girl was playing and started giving her advice on how to use it.

Edison and GOAT don't cover nearly enough, there should be way more eras.
For example if you want to play Inzektor, Nekroz, or early Zexal with Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes you're freaking out of luck because those go way beyond Edison but not nearly strong enough for current game (maybe they are with the latest techs, but aren't how the game was played back in 2013).

The reason why die rolls are so important is because decks have been normalized to be so strong that letting them play unopposed just shut down the opponent, because meta-intended cards for the current format need to outright beat the stuff from the prior one.
The handtraps exist because going first is outrageously unfair.
The LP being so low is only relative to the heavy powercreep in accessing powerful stats, paired with endboard pieces going first.
The silver bullets need to exist because powercreep has resulted in powerful going first decks getting shut down by handtraps so they need to pivot to dodge or tank several handtraps so the only way to counteract them is to shut down their core gimmick.
Time rules suck ass because as a result of powercreep, combo decks have to spend a lot of time developing their board for several minutes to access all the shit they need to. This makes going first and in some cases going second take a huge chunk of time.
This all stems from this constant stream of powercreep firing on all cylinders, this stream which is unopposed by any system currently in place by Konami. Konami needs some form of restraint to prevent further powercreep or just generally rein in the game's speed, power and gameplay so that all of the above isn't just endlessly spiraling.

Remove the side deck completely
Bo2, both players get to choose their turn order in 1 of those games so both get their ideal turns, no more coinflips determining the victor.
Implement some form of safeguard against just instantly losing if you brick and have to pass turn of get handtrappped and don't have any follow up or mulcharmied and don't want to give your opponent a billion draws which is basically an otk anyway. Either put a cap on the number of damage you can inflict in 1 turn in the first few turns of the duel or half damage from direct attacks or something.
Time rules will be solved by this too since you'll be playing 2 games instead of potentially 3 and no side deck means even less wasted time.

Downsides of this?
