>>531686646Don't worry about him, my pet
>>531686541Xenos poop from the sex hole but have a separate hole for peeing
>>531686417 (OP)No, but you can only carry so much with you per run.
What class/race for BG1? I want to play through both but there's some weird options
Not sure about what "dual" vs "multi" means exactly in the long run
>>531687282Dual I think means what it says
Multi means you shelve your existing class, then start all over again from level 1 in a new class, and only get your old class back when you reach the same level in your new class as you were in your old class when you went multi
Or maybe it's the other way around
>The monster disappeared, and silence returned once more. Steam rises from freshly baked cookies and fragrant tea on the table. Arueshalae gazes at her dream. You've never seen such joy on her face. โI... I just want to live here, in the mortal world. With you. I've solved the goddess's riddle. This is my true dream!โ
>Arueshalaeโs fragile body flares with a rainbow light, a swarm of blue butterflies surrounds her. She looks at you with shining eyes. โI love you. Will you be with me? Will you share my dream?โ
>The girl flinches, but doesnโt pull her hand away. She squeezes your hand with her dry, hot fingers. โI believe you. You must be real โ I donโt want to imagine a world where youโre not.โ
>As if she was just waiting for that, Arueshalae answers your smile with one of her own. โTogether, no hardship will scare us. Weโll get through it! We definitely will!โ
>The heat radiating from Arueshalaeโs body warms you and fills you with peace. Closing her eyes, she leans closer into you, her face moving toward yours...
>Arueshalae takes your hand in her small, hot palm, and the world around you fades away.
I bless this thread with my hands.
>>531687414Ahhhh that's... ok.
I like wizards lol should I go full wizard or dual or multi
>>531687282Elf mage so you can die over and over to the first combat encounter
Don't worry about romance because there isn't any in BG1
>>531687693Full wiz
No dualing
>>531687414That's the other way around
>>531687282>>531687693In short, Multi is leveling 2 classes at once while Dual is leveling one then abandoning it to level another while keeping the benefits of the original class. A multi Fighter/Mage will be a true gish while a dual Fighter -> Mage will be mostly a spellcaster that can also melee when needed, they're both strong as fuck but i personally prefer Multi for a trilogy run
>>531687704Multi is easier and smoother for your first playthrough if you want to play a gish.

>>531686417 (OP)>Thread questionDepends on the tone of the game. It would take away a lot away from the atmosphere of classic fallout if you're in a post apoc setting but you have infinite ammo. Its not like ammo is scarce but just the fact that you have to go out and find it yourself adds a lot to the game imo.
On the other hand It would feel dumb in rogue trader since you're a super rich commander with huge amounts of resources at your disposal, it would be stupid if you had to manage and restock every little bit of ammo.
Fantasy games I don't really care because usually you just but stacks of 99 arrows for 1 gold and then forget about it.
>>531692359>draw whatevers popular at the timeFaggots who discover some old forgotten memes and starts drawing them incessantly are even worse
>>531692258Lich path was great in WoTR, but my gripe with it was how it forced you to go full evil. I just wanted to be a morally gray lich overlord who would eventually become insane over the years after stopping the demons. Like cursing my soul for the greater good shit.

To be honest, the reason why WotR is so beginner averse is because of single reason.
DRETCHES.
Imagine that you boot up your new role-playing game, and go through your tutorial. You then make your way to surface, and come face to face with the most stupid-looking little shits imaginable.
And what is their move? They spam the most effective early game CC AoE imaginable.
Thus, the first fights are watching as your entire 4-6 numbered team is stunned for half-a-minute or longer, all the while as fat versions of house elves from harry potter try their best to nibble them to death. And if they have any other demons with them (all immune to Stinking cloud ofc) you better start loading game already.
And they love to pop out of fog of war and ruin whatever plans you had. And just in case you think you can snipe them, there is propably more than one anyhow.
>inb4 Delay poison
Not available as mass version until at least level 5 at most. You'd have to waste all your spell slots to keep them up anyhow. And after you start using it Dretches turn into fucking non-entities. Not to mention that a noob propably wouldn't get the fact that Delay negs Stinking cloud completly.
Who the fuck thought that Dretches were a good idea?
lol.

>>531697740I know all of that. The original post was about how there is this nasty spot in Act 1, where you don't have access to proper tools to counter it and how infuriating that can be.
It's all about action economy. It doesn't really matter if you can spend level 2 spell-slot to temporarily remove effects of Stink on single target - and the caster needs to not be nauseated to cast them - which is hard considering that stink cloud is the size of entire screen. And there will always be more dretches, each of them capable of throwing down.
And delay poison is on fixed ten-minute duration so it will not last if you want to move on city map.
Communal Delay Poison is pretty much only thing that allows you to skip it efficently enough.

>Worth itSarkorian DLC. Ulbrig is a companion with his own quest and locale and brings a new class with him (plus his unique archetype. Simple, fitting and has funny interjections, honestly.
>Good valueDance of masks: If you like the characters, you get more scenes with them. An okay story quest and a battle focused arena for some flexing. Real value is extra archetypes. Pretty fun
Lord of nothing : Decent mid level campaign. Nothing amazing , but new areas are interesting with their own gimmicks for puzzles/encounters. The boss you get in the main campaign is fun.
Midnight Isles (standalone). If you enjoy trying archetypes and team compositions, you will enjoy playing runs here. Otherwise, ignore it. Some of the conditions/traps are also interesting to deal with for a roguelike adventure. The main campaign implementation kinda sucks and fucks over progression to your favor a bit too much.
>PolarizingThrough the ashes. not just low level, but survival adventure where fighting is very disadvantageous. I enjoy the concept and trying to keep everyone alive is a decent challenge, but clunky isometric ,movement Owlcat style make it hard.. Adds nothing to the main campaign as well and aside for two instances, not really needed to play it's sequel in Lord of Nothing
>Essentially TrashInevitable Excess. 'Post' endgame campaign , max rank/level. You get like 90% of your encounters being the same two groups of enemies with immunities Galu Style and Owlcat puzzle design that is IMO worse than the Enigma (some of the tileset crunching there was enjoyed by a few). You do not get to enjoy the story that has barely time to do something interesting with it's concept. At least the two final boss fights are kinda cool and it has another Darkness superboss. . Barely worth a pirate.
If you are just pirating, get Sarkorian, Lord of nothing and Dance of Masks to unlock the classes/ archetypes even if you are not planning on playing them.
Damn this dress up mod is fun. I will have to make even more characters now
>>531698169They're okay. Ulbrig is the only one I'd 100% recommend.
Inevitable excess just exists to be a bandaid for complaints that you didn't get to play around with max level much, midnight isles is too fucking long but has some good rewards, and dance of masks is a citadel style fanservice epilogue. Dance of masks is probably worth it for the new subclasses alone.
The dlc goes on sale decently often.

>>531698664It's also the only way to get some implants. This is what I don't gete about owlshart: the models are already in the game, and npcs are using them, so why the fuck couldn't I customize my character to have a bionic arm or leg during charcater creation. It felt like pointless busywork in ME2. Minigame for the sake of a minigame. Here you have to decide where to put Extractiums to benefit your realm, characters remark on planets you visit and almost always there is some story and decision attached to them. How good is RT coop? I realize it won't be Divinity/BG3 but is it playable? I'm mostly concerned about fights, most of my players would actually prefer one guy talking for us all. Does everyone control their character freely outside of combat? What happens if someone triggers dialogue or walks into fights far away from the group?
>>531699586>Once you get rid off an arm you won't be able to just unequip implant without equipping next oneThat would be ideal, but I doubt owlkeks would do it. There'd be a lot of screeching from femoids and trannies. But imagine if you cut off your hand and then remove the implant so your character model is now running around with a stump, also two-handed weapons become Unavailable to you.
I think either it will be a simple addition to character creation (so no mechanical changed to the game), Or you'll just be able to change them freely - maybe they won't even be reflected on your model like accessories. Count on owlkek to take the easiest route

The other players can walk around the map but they cannot start dialogue, it just goes right to the main character. People can click on which dialogue option they want you to select and their little portrait is next to that option, but all dialogue is in the hands of the captain, it's not a vote.
You can give every player as many characters as they want. Meaning you can give them Abelard/Argenta/etc/etc in addition to their custom mercenary character. They will follow and mover according to that player's formation.
If someone walks into a fight, the fight will start with everyone in the spots they're in, which can be very bad if people were wandering around. So make sure you collect everyone before you walk to fights.
All the other players characters take a nap while you're on the bridge of the ship, so only the captain character walks on the ship, until you go to the map or the elevator to go to one of the ship areas. Basically, the other players don't exist until you select a party to add them to when the game does the "select party" screen before leaving the bridge.
All other players choose a rank 2 alignment and don't change past that, just like a mercenary you hire from Janrus.
All in all, I do enjoy it, but mostly because I love RT and my group is accommodating of jank. BG3 really spoiled everyone when it comes to multiplayer since everyone's character was separate and could do quests and combats and even dialogue completely separate from each other. But if you like RT and accommodate some jank then RT coop is fun.

Kenabres has fallen, the missive says. The grim gnome crumples it in his hands.
Yaker approaches: "Sir, what news?"
Regill: "Assemble some men, Yaker, we ride for Kenabres."
Yaker nods, the clang of his fist against his armor in salute almost immediate.
Regill, looking into the distant rising sun: "Kenabres has fallen."
Yaker grows pale: "P-paralictor?"
Regill begins assembling goods and amor: "We do not ride with vengeance, however. No."
Yaker completes the fastening of Regill's armor upon his beast.
Regill: "We ride now with Wrath."
Yaker continues, but his hands a little slower.
Regill grasps his hand, firm as his superior, but gently as his lover.
Regill: "The Wrath... Of the Righteous."

Thanks for answering. I'm mostly wondering because I've started a new playthrough since I haven't checked out the DLC yet and thought it might be fun to get my friends to play with me, but there's also the issue of getting them to actually pay for the game and it's DLCs.

After playing on unfair+ so battles have some difficulty to them at least until a bit into act 2 it really extends game a lot. And RT is already long. And will be even longer with two more dlcs. As sad and boring as it is, being able to rush through battles with alpha striking one-shotting of enemies kinda works in game favor in this regard now.
And what with people not having dlcs? Or having only Void Shadows or only Lex Imperialis? And this same with 2 more dlcs. Separate balance for every possible combination of a base game + dlcs? How do you balance encounters and xp gain around this?

everyone does not need the dlc's. You can turn off the dlc's that you own and play with your friends who don't own the dlc, in a save that has the dlc turned off for everyone. The only thing you can't do is have people that don't own the dlc playing in a lobby that has the dlc turned on. It'll prevent the game from starting until everyone turns it off or everyone buys it.
The one exception to this is the preorder and special edition dlc's, those are active for the host if the host has them and the other people don't need to own those, since it would be a hassle since not all of those are available. So this all only applies to the actual void shadow and lex imperi dlc.

>>531702140It's like you have an RTS game running on a huge map, with squads belonging to different factions patrolling around and sometimes fighting each other, but instead of a big faction you control an independent group of 1 to 30 people. With mods you can get up to 256 people, though most computers can't actually handle that many. You can wander around fighting people, or build towns and defend them against raiders. There's no story and no quests, apart from what you choose to do.
It could be argued that it's an RPG, based on its mechanics, but it's really nothing like any other RPG I've played.

>>531703724Bad. Idira and full-support officer MC are the only classes that benefit from Overseer bigly. Maybe Pasqal too. Everybody else is better off with another archetype. You could make a case for a buff/healslut Jimmy, but I feel like that's a waste of his stats and warrior class

Your next line will probably be that if you used the astartes you didn't beat the game.
In any case, I'm pretty satisfied with my beaten-the-game criteria.
Right now my planned challenge playthrough to make the game more difficult is to make everyone who can possibly be one into an overseer. I think noble-officer-overseer is simply worse than noble-officer-strategist and I think Pasqal is stronger as a tactician than an overseer and I also think any frontliner is better as an archmilitant than an overseer (including Jimmy, despite the aoe biomancer buffs) so all in all it would be a challenge run compared to running all optimized classes.
If I could, I would make Argenta, Yrliet, and Kibelah into Overseers too, but owlcat doesn't let you.

>>531704420Raven would work if you want to do a pure buffbot but you're going to be spread pretty thin. The servo skulls should work nicely with sanctic since sanctic doesn't need a whole lot to get going.

Dragon Age Origins was cool. I remember being a battlemage with like 5 auras that when combined would murder all trash mobs as I entered a room, restored both health and mana, and buffed my weapons so I could beat anything not already dead to death. Shit was cash back when games weren't afraid to let magic be cool
>>531710725Tons of talents are good, some more universal, others for specific builds and weapons.
From common ones, swift movements is an easy early pick. Non psykers and non-officers should likely consider picking up Aeldari/drukhari equipment if they are not forbodden from it.
Nomble is something most characters can appreciate, and if you do not get bothered by the extra clicks, grenadier always makes things easier.
Assuming you do not reload/cheat on toybox, skill talents can be useful for that aspect, plus a few characters and equipment bonuses appreciate the extra points. Same for a few cases with characteristics (like reaching 100 perception for operatives).

>>531714238Good point. That should set me on track, I just looked at the quest list.
>>5317145505/6, pretty good. That's Yeslick. I spent most of the game with a free 6th slot because I didn't vibe with any of the the weirdos I met

>>531716401It's just one seethoid trying to force RT out of what he considers "his" general. It's completely inorganic
>>531716716I wish anonymity didn't attract so many freaks
>>531716716for fuck's sake, if people want other shit to be talked about here, they should talk about it instead of bitching about what's being said because of course it would be, being new
>>531716648Yes, it's some fag. The other thread attracted the attention of a couple of new anons just starting out RT, but I don't expect it'll become a lasting thing.
>>531716648Why would we give a fuck?
I think they only game anons ever wanted gone was BG3 and that's because of a bunch of schizos who were obnoxious about it.
>>531716839its just circumsized americans who are this autistic online.
>>531716716>what he considers "his" generalHeh, I've been in this general since it's inception, but this doesn't give me the right to say who can or cannot stay.
Finished Mass Effect 3, Jack was "I can fix her" done right. Only downside was she barely has any content in ME3. Tali is still the best though.
The voidship combat part of the UI is so annoying. I can't see the actual range of the weapons in the equipment menu? I can't see the cooldown of the missiles? It's so fucking lame
Splitting a general never really works, especially when this general isn't even that big to begin with. Also we did have a owlcat general at some point but it died within a year because you can only talk about three games so much.
>>531717241>Tali is still the best thoughEh. I don't feel her. She's too much of a waifubait for me, similarly to Liara. But then I was always going for Ashley/ Miranda.
Wish Kasumi was romanceable.
>>531717434Well, /crpgg/ was made as an offshoot of a Kingmaker general that later evolved into... well, this. I remember people just started randomly talking about other cRPGs in that general and now here we are.
>>531717241>>531717557Ashley/Miranda are best waifus. Do not tolerate xeno scum. Except for Garrus, he gets a pass
>>531717557>KasumiWhat a weirdly written character. she's supposed to hung up on her dead boyfriend who was the only love of her life but then some writer came along and went full BLACKED.com with her since she literally obsesses over Jacob nonstop.
>>531717764I'd say Miranda is overall the best pick for Shepard, if only she joined as a squadmate in ME3 like originally intended I feel like she'd be up there with Tali for the general waifufag consensus.
>>531717557For me it's Samara. It's so short and sweet.
>>531717910>she'd be up there with Tali for the general waifufag consensusno she wouldn't due to the simple fact that at some point she was fucking jacob. this isn't just schizo headcanon either, jacob straight up tells you after you do his loyalty quest.
>>531717764Ashley is Jacob tier bad after ME1. The thing she is in ME3 doesnโt even resemble her.
>>531717910There is a mod for that.
Also, Altered Assassin is another must-have kino mod.
...I need to replay Mass Effect at one point. I think that series grew on me over the years.
Lair of the shadow broker is still the best ME romance
Gods, I wish the eventual ME4 wasn't doomed to be dogshit. That series deserves better.
Liara
md5: a055452faefb4323b275d643e5c96c01
๐
>>531718894People shit on her but I do think Liara is great. However they ruined her in ME3. The fact that you have to remind this blue retard that you're in a relationship with her like three separate times is dumb.
I notice more DA talk than usual in this general.
Definitely not complaining, I stayed up until 3am playing DAO and only got three hours of sleep for work
>>531714754sheesh, you must have been dicking around a lot. I remember trying to get as many companions dead as possible and and it was challenging.
>>531719207DA:O is actually really good. But similarly to VtMB, I can't get back to it, because I've played it so many times I can recite entire dialogues from memory.
>>531719084Thatโs just a gameplay mechanic thing because of fucked flags and people starting with me3 for some reason
>>531719386Miranda is borderline impossible to kill if you want to kill only her and nobody else, unless you use a very specific set of companions.
>>531719626Liara's flags were fucked since ME1. I remember her always starting a romance with you even if you turned her down, because some flag wasn't working properly.
I'll never forget a stalker yandere Liara hounding me throughout the ship going "what about our love, Shepard", while my Shepard was getting increasingly confused what this bitch is going on about.
>>531719386I donโt think you even can finish the game with only one person alive.
>>531719460I like DA:O because of how complete it feels. The companions are plentiful and entertaining, the gameplay does its job (and doesn't use a fucking tabletop system). The story is nicely wrapped up without noticable cut content, or nonsense plot points to push it together and has a clean ending. While I may not love all parts of it, there is none that I hate.
>>531717764Remember when Ashley said: "Human or Alien, we are all just animals." She was such a selfless and caring woman.
>>531718394You should play it. There is still nothing like it and many characters are iconic
>>531720089The story might be the most generic Bioware story since NWN1, but honestly it was working for me. And I wasn't playing for the story, I was playing for the companions, because they were so likeable. Leliana is still a top-tier waifu for me. She's sweet and kind, but she's not a moeblob like Liara.
>>531719935Itโs even funnier that sheโll acknowledge youโve picked a new romance in ME2 and then completely forget about it in ME3 and act like you were still together
>>531686417 (OP)do you have to romance kibellah to turn her iconoclast?
>>531720349Bioware was smart and went hard on the worldbuilding while making the actual story fairly self-contained and straightforward. Itโs no surprise that them trying to adopt the scope creep of their other games sunk the franchise.
>>531720015Well, I wasn't counting Joker and what's her name
>>531720806Romance and Alignment do interject, but you can turn her into whatever regardless of fucking
>>531720349The story really works because you're not as much of a free agent as in their previous games. The game puts you into the ranks of they Grey Wardens, something much larger than yourself and places that duty on you. The stakes are somewhat personal, you want to get Loghain for his betrayal, but that still takes the back seat to dealing with the Blight. That combined with the origins system creates a very well fleshed out role for you to play while still giving you some freedom. It's just lightning in a bottle to me.
Obsidian got close to it with Tyranny but that was an unfinished piece of shit, unfortunately.
>get to the gene stealer ambush
>they try to make it scary with the stealers dropping from the ceiling as you try to run to the exit
>except they're coded to run away like bitches at half health which makes the whole thing look like a joke
Don't know what they were thinking with this
>>531720806>be femtrader throwing myself at Jimmy at every opportunity>try to be nice to Kibellah and help her out of her turbo autism>invite her to a party, pay attention and be kind to her as I would do for a female friend>she now wants to scissor meplayersexual romances were a fucking mistake. I blame larian
Why do these guys want jeans so much
>>531721652>you want to get Loghain for his betrayal, Eh, about that. He's voiced by Simon Templeman, therefore he did nothing wrong.
>>531720349DAO companions > BG3 companions
Important people mixed with normies, vs "I'm basically an agent of God, let's fuck"
>>531722032Eh, I do like Shadowheart and to some extent Astarion, but yeah, BG3 doesn't have this sense of friendship and camraderie DA:O has. Mostly because everybody's an asshole aside from Karlach and Selunite Shadowheart.
There is also Wyll, I guess, but he's just Jacob 2.0.
>>531721652>be surana>literal who elf stuck in denerim alienage as a child>oops you're getting sent to the circle>turns 18>oops you're going to become a grey warden>oops you have to go against the government and kill a demon dragon>oops you have to lead an entire organization I feel bad for my character
>>531722461Joining the wardens seems like a pretty good deal for a mage
>>531722012I won't comment on rights, or wrongs, but I will say that he's my favourite companion, despite his recruitment being somewhat nonsensical. Great redemption arc if he sacrifices himself for his country and his dialogues in the camp especially if you're unexpectedly amiable to him are fantastic.
>>531722461Mage Origin is the only origin in which you can weasel yourself out of being a Grey Warden because Duncan has no leverage on you. So Duncan just recruits you by force and drags you out of the Circle kicking and screaming.
>>531721848Bro, she has emotional development of a cultist, any sort of friendly attention = sex to her.
But you are right of course, playersexual is the main thing. I'm fine with that tho, people are clueless, end up gay or missing the romance entirely when romantic options have any sort of subtlty.
I keked when you get a scene with Cassia in the library and after she leaves there is a "Romance for nobles, a guide" book on the table, you can read.
I have this in my Steam family share library and I want to give it a try. I've never played a D&D game before. What is a good class to aim for? I was thinking paladin. Also, anything else I should know? Otherwise I'm gonna go in completely blind.
>>531722653His banter with Zevran is pure gold.
>Ser Loghain, I am the assassin you hired to kill the Grey Warden>Sure, and?>I am sad to report I failed in my task.>...thank you kindly for informing me.
>>531722790It's not like my mage was particularly unhappy about being able to leave the je- ehm I mean templar daycare for mages
>>531722956Donโt start with nwn. The original campaign is incredibly mediocre.
>>531721909Anon said last thread that I can't wear cargo shorts no more, because spending all my time behind of the computer doesn't count as marriage, and being married is the only time cargo shorts are allowed. So I'm looking for jeans now, it's a matter of culture and having pants at all.

>>531722956Paladin is really good, any melee class will be pretty effective and good for a beginner.
Protip, skip the wailing death campaign, its pretty dull.
Start with shadow of undrentide and hordes of the underdark.
>>531722956What another anons have said, you can play original a bit to get a feel for it as a tutorial, but it's very much meh. Devs haven't mastered the map making tools yet, it's a proof of concept at best.
>>531723231That isn't saying much since Theodora dies in like 30 minutes

>>531723315Thx anon
>>531722851I think bisexual characters are mostly fine albeit unrealistic in their overrepresentation amongst RPG companions. the problem is that devs are fucking lazy and implement the exact same romance for straight and gay couples without any nuance. it's completely normal for two female friends to go to a party and take a walk alone to gossip or to go the restroom. this scene might have romantic undertones for kibbles + male trader but it caught me completely off guard.
>>531723773Yeah and especially kibbles should have had an entirely different vibe for a male and female trader
>>531723596In a modern crpg? I wouldn't hold my breath.
>>531722956If you're really not sure what you're getting into I'd recommend cleric. It's the do everything class. They can fight in melee well, have a ton of buffs and more importantly utility spells like detecting invisible enemies, curing poison and disease, magic resistance, allowing you to react to what other classes would have to prepare for.
If you want to have access to all available weapons take 1 level of Fighter. It won't slow down your spellcasting too much.
>>531723773i laughed so fucking hard when ulbrig proposed to me

>>531723892Why would she? Sheโs trained to view you the same way regardless of who you are.
>>531724150Her romance is about going outside the training
>>531722032It really stood out to me how samey the BG3 companions were. Other than the obvious, being hot and playersexual, they all had this conflict with an authority figure/servant of evil thing going on. Astarion with Cazador, Karlach with Zariel, Wyll with Mizora, Bae'Zel with Vlaakith and Shart with Shar. It was absolutely uncanny.
If it was supposed to be some sort of a theme going on in the game it absolutely fell flat for me so much that my favourite companion ended up being Jaheira.
>>531724667Forgot to add Gale and Mystra, who kinda breaks the mold by not being evil, but still fits.
>>531723596Although I prefer more gradual power fantasies instead of immediate rises to power, Owlcat really knows how to fellate the player just right and make you feel like the most important person in whichever room you walk into. The Minagho fight while this is playing is a top 10 CRPG moment for me:

Anybody here playing tactical D&D mods?
It's really the ultimate challenge in the D&D realm. There is nothing else out there. No other game, definitely not the newest release, and no other Baldurs Gate 2 mod either. SCS simply doesn't cut it if you are looking for a challenge.

What initial archetype should I go for? Soldier for some extra attack shenanigans? Warrior for some extra durability and melee buffs? I always somehow end up running sword and pistol when it comes to weapons, but shields seem pretty cool so I might commit to just one weapon type.
Probably going to keep Abelard, Jae, and Cassia in my party more often than not.
is the second pathfinder game more mature than the first one or is it just a case of teenage edge? writing in pretty much every modern crpg except the first pillars of eternity makes me roll my eyes. dark urge in BG3 was alright, if not for the fact that being evil locks you out of half the content

>>531750745Don't they? I remember distinctly reading (and seeing the credits from 2) that Coles planned to have Ad Avis as the big bad in 3 but decided to cut it because they also did the VGA release of 1 in 1992. Sucks they cut the planned thieves guild.
And don't get me wrong, I agree it's the weakest of the games but I still quite love it despite that.

>>531748018Yeah, well, it's only one min-maxed orc, innit?
And I took only 2 multi-classed casters this time and no mage at all at least until level 7. Didn't even get rolls above 90 on each character.
>>531751730Yeah it's still a decent game it's just not up to par compared with the rest of the series. It felt like the only content path they finished was the Fighter/Paladin, and even that was subpar compared to QFG2. I mean in QFG2 you get the Fighters Guild subquest, training with Rakeesh, and the duel with the general at the end as a Fighter. In QFG3 you get to do the Simbani Warriors test and that's it.
As a Thief in QFG2 you get to do jobs in Shapeir, find the Raven in Raseir, get unique interactions with NPCs no one else gets in the process, and finally a completely different end game where you sneak through the harem instead of going the more direct routes. You get absolutely NOTHING in QFG3 as a Thief. And as a Magic-User in QFG2 you get to become a full fledged Wizard and have the most content rich sidequest in the game in doing so. You get the Mage duel in QFG3 and that's it. It's really clear QFG3 was a game that had whatever content was planned for it massively cut back.
>>531742224>Is there combat?Yes, your typical turn based affair. But if you don't like the combat, you can just turn it off and just deal with conversations and investigations.
>What's the mechanics like?So far, it reminds of more story driven Arcanum with a tinge of Disco Elysium.
>Any out of combat skills and checks and so on?Metric fuckton of them. The game has this very strong investigative vibe going on at the moment.
So far, the game is shaping up to be really decent. But I've only played an hour or two of it, so I don't want to oversell it. It has a bit of that Black Geyser vibe where you can tell the devs were really trying, but I wouldn't be suprised if the game falls apart halfway through because they run out of budget.
>>531752465>It's really clear QFG3 was a game that had whatever content was planned for it massively cut back. For sure. It's a shame too because I actually really enjoyed some of the promise it had, and the region. I thought the manufactured conflict thing was actually pretty neat, maybe it's a little weak but I liked it anyhow.
Didn't like how nonexistent any real risk is though. No reason to buy rations at all, enemies easy in battle and even easier to just choose to run from.
Seems like they enjoyed (or felt the need to, who knows) reinventing combat every game. It will be interesting to see how I feel about the arcade style in 4.

Supposedly you are going to determine the flow of the story by how you respond to dialogue, as well, so if you for example act like a vicious, psychopathic Elder the NPCs in the game will start treating you that way, whereas if you're diplomatic and pleasant, they'll react differently, etc. We'll see if they actually pulled it off when the game comes out, claims of reactivity are always overblown with games like these.

Exactly why is Marazhai a thousand times better written than Yrliet? I thought when I played through the game up until I got him in the retinue that Owlcats writers simply cannot write xenos characters, but he's actually one of the best in the game. Was it just Yrliets writer being an incompetent hack? They ought to fire whoever wrote her, easily the worst character in the game by far. I don't know how you can fuck up something as easy as Craftworld Eldar and then actually pull off something hard like Dark Eldar, and not see the vast gulf in writing talent. Then again that's typical of Owlcat games, some companions are miles ahead of the rest in every game they've made so far. Better consistency and a more even curve on the companions writing would be nice to see in Dark Heresy, but somehow I doubt it.

I'd like to note that Cassia is one of only 3 (THREE!) kind, sweet, and adorable virgin romances in the entire history of CRPGs. Why this is so rare is beyond me.
>>531758514Virginity is overrated. I'm over lvl 30 and still hasn't gotten my levitation powers
>>531758037All that you get for taking Solomorne is him crying about his dog, which is honestly incredibly pathetic, and the dialogue chain where you determine his conviction path. Go nuts if you feel like that's content worth seeing. If you want to make a cut drop Abelard or Pasqal, they have nothing story critical to their paths there. I would also say Cassia, if you're not romancing her, but since everyone romances Cassia, that's not possible, so yeah.
>>531758123>>531758391Why do you faggots try this deflection every time? He's a well written character and it has nothing to do with his romance content, which 90% of players will never see, he's just got great banter with the rest of the party, his dialogue chains are actually interesting and give real insight into how the Drukhari work, and his companion quest gives you the final insight on what was going on with all the raids into your demesne. Actually great character, easily top three in the game, only outdone by Pasqal and Abelard.

Why are all these weird relationship dynamics crammed into CRPGs but not the most upfront ones?
When we examine the data in picture related, what we can really extrapolate from it is that the true failures, companion wise, were Marazhai, Jae, and Idira. Of course characters that come into the game in later acts will have a lower pickrate, so factoring that in, Idira did ABYSMALLY terrible, since she was in as early as both Abelard and Argenta, yet has a near 30% drop below the two of them.
Similarly, Jae comes in even BEFORE Yrliet, and just shortly after Heinrix (in fact you'll likely get Jae back before Heinrix if you full clear Footfall before returning to the docks) yet her pick rate is quite low. And finally, look at Marazhai, who is a full 30% lower than Ulfar, despite both being available in the same act.
Why do you guys think those three characters, in particular, failed to resonate with most players?

>>531761340>MarazhaiI really do not get the insistence by all these people that Marazhai is for homosexuals and women, he's just an edgelord, and an entertaining one at that.
>JaeWhat does Cassia have to do with Jae? We're not comparing romances, this is just companion pick rates, and Cassia doesn't even really fulfill the Officer role (outside of Finest Hour) she just uses Navigator abilities anyway, she's not really a replacement for Jae at all mechanically as a result.

Instead she goes halfway in both directions failing to fulfill either one as satisfactorily as she could have. Which is ironically the exact same issue her story content has.

>>531761151>Came in too lateThis is a common problem with CRPGs in general that should be addressed, the reality is that if you introduce companions late in the game nobody uses or picks them because they already have their fully established party they like. All the way back in BG1 practically no one used pic related because by the time you enter Baldurs Gate the game is likely about to be over, and why would you replace a party member at that point? Meanwhile if she had been standing on the road on the way to the Friendly Arm Inn, she would've probably been one of the top most used characters since she was a Good aligned Thief with solid stats. CRPGs really need to adjust to this reality and give you all of your companion choices at the start or very close to it if they want them all to have a fair shot at being used.
the only one with a terrible pick rate is mazipan with 30%, idira and jae have high 60%s

Dogmatic character will kill him because he is a Xeno
Chaos character will him because he is an Eldar
Iconoclast will kill him because he is utterly evil person causing insane suffering for innocents
Pragmatic character who only cares for money and well being of himself and his realm will kill him because he personally fucked with your realm and then on top of this caused immense harm to you and people close to you. He can't even offer anything to you, he has no political power anymore, no Kabal or allies. Realistically you should pragmatically use him to escape from Commorragh, a place he knows and so is valuable in, and then get rid off him asap, either by feeding to Inquisition or Mandrakes or getting a revenge in some other way. And of course he is act 3 companion.
Literally only justification for sparing and recruiting him is if you are playing as a character who cares nothing for any values, good, dogmatic or heretical and can forgive transgressions against himself just to have an exotic pet.
Barring that player would have to break any roleplaying (or self inserting) for meta artificial reason of simply seeing more content. As amusing as he is, he is honestly a waste of a companion slot. At the very least he should be given some political power and then give you some visible in-game aid, so there are pragmatic reasons to ally with him.
Idira is black. She suffers from Carth syndrome of complaining all the time. Her playstyle filters people. She fucks up and is kinda dumb and naive. You can't fuck her. I like her, but it's no wonder other companions are liked more
Jae is brown. People dislike her accent. She is a blatant gold digger and an unapologetic disgusting whore, while not even being that pretty. It's really pathetic Owlcat didn't show this part of their culture and nature, it really makes 40K less grim and dark when they dance around key points of the setting.
>>531765807True
Maybe drop Pasqal and Cassia instead
>Abelard >Idira >Argenta >Heinrix >Xenos Pet>Charname
>>531766119your best bet is to play a dragonblood sorc and take the polymorph into dragon spells when avaliable. also go gold dragon in act 5
>>531766174Are you the guy who got made that Slaneeeshh wasn't a full out rape god.
>>531765718Even if Argenta didn't get raped some form of torture should've occurred, her getting off basically scot free is really jarring and a weird part of Commoragh.
>>531766174Imagine the meltdown that would've happened if you couldn't romance Argenta, but could watch her get raped by deldar
>>531766023It's different when Jae gets raped, she can handle it. She's not particularly distressed when you find her, just mad
Has a single screenshot ever convinced you to never play a game?
>>531766374I think the fallout would be worse if you could lol
>>531766429Anon, she gets mindbroken enough to reveal her "secret" to you and then almost throws herself to two random guys which she kills. That's not "just distressed".
>>531766097Executioner is the only reason Marazhai is salvageable, because it's an OP class, but his Warrior build and talents are absolute TRASH, easily the weakest character in the game before the Void Shadows DLC. Most people still Toybox respec him from zero if they're going to use him though. Operative is not salvageable, it's usable but genuinely any other class or option is better. I swear Owlcat just tested Idira when figuring out Operatives balance and her Psyker powers carried her so they didn't realize an Operative without Pysker shit is absolute ass.
>>531766360It suits her character arc, getting away scot free while causing disaster for other people
>>531766531That is how the average woman acts when distressed
>>531766360I just see it as no Sister torture porn allowed
>>531766474Is this two Roman men engaging in intellectual discussion?
>>531766474Cleo is better and has bigger tits anyway
I'm racist af but I liked Idira
>>531758037Use toybox to increase the party size. It doesn't break anything
Pasqual is an annoying cunt and Machine spirit banishment wasn't worth dealing with him
>>531766374Imagine the fallout that would've occurred if you actually COULD romance Argenta, but she still got raped by Dark Eldar. Bonus points for not being able to avoid it even if she wasn't in your retinue, they grab her off your ship regardless.
>>531766692The one on the right is a girl, tomboy fags see nothing wrong with this btw.
>>531766892I think something like that would've made Owlcat go under lmao
Dogmatic Rogue Trader forcibly impregnating Argenta with his holy seed as a reward for her faithfulness to the Emperor
raping Argenta with Marzipan....
>>531766889Finally someone says it. His monotone whining loses its charm before the end of Rykad
>>531766765I'm mildly racist and thought she was ok, and Ekun was literally my nigger. Seelah and Sosiel were fucking terrible however
>>531766474those drawings make me feel super uncomfortable, both the guy on the left and the dude to his right, disgusting really
>>531766892Ideally you'd be romancing her, but not have kissed yet.
Then she gets kidnapped and raped by deldar and generally ruined, and your relationship never becomes physical because she's so traumatized
>hating Pasqal
Such heresy will not be tolerated
>>531766895Oh, right, now I see it, her model has girly waist. Thought it was the infamous "Older Romans are gay for young boys" meme recreation.
>>531767323The best thing about Pasqal is that he kills himself when you ignore his autistic ass
>>531767284>DrawingsIt's clearly pictures of real people edited to such forms. Gets that uncanny valley feeling
>>531767358I would be called a huge faggot if my gf saw me playing that game. Like, get real faggot, those two twinks are literal homobait. So pretty, so young, so soft, mmmm, roman boy love..
>>531710725I love Strange Vitality. I just do
>>531767406it's somewhat appropriate since she's doing a Mulan thing to fight in the legion for some reason
>>531767545Alarmingly homosexual mindset, how's the closet?
>>531767627Idk, how is being out of it for you? Gonna jerk off to that dude on the right and tell yourself its alright because its a tomBOY?
>>531714754Like, on purpose, or are you just retarded?
>>531767743>Sees a man and a woman>First thought is gay sex and roman twink assholesYou're a bit fruity.
>>531766580>easily the weakest character in the game before the Void Shadows DLCWell, yes. But now he got the ability to use far more items than on launch and slash finally works as advertised.
>Operative is not salvageable, it's usable but genuinely any other class or option is betterI really think you're selling them too low. Sure, they need to fix the lack of attacks and mobility they start with but early on two weapon combat, or shield, is quite alright. Either AS or BH fix both of those weaknesses and let them hit even harder. I mean you play how you like but I did a arbites operative RT that went assassin with a shield and absolutely had a blast. Unfair+ solo if that's relevant.
>>531767853I look like that. And I mog you.
>wake up
>see rt general
Not this shit again. Not using it
And it's obviously created by raztard schizo
>>531767907I see two pretty boys, which is an insult to both of them, the fag for being too pretty to be a soldier and the girl for looking like a boy. Faggot, I bet you like that dont you. Anyway those ugly portraits are enough for me to never touch the game
>>531766607Makes zero sense regardless of "character themes".
>>531766665Then she shouldn't have been a companion. She shouldn't be immune to how Dark Eldar work because she's a SoB, if they wanted to prevent her torture or rape they should've had her die outright fighting against the Dark Eldar to the last, if she was in your retinue when you get rused. She shouldn't just be magically immune to the consequences of being captured by the most fucked up faction in the setting.
>>531768129>I see two pretty boys,How can boys be pretty? Being pretty is a girl thing
>>531719207Da is great. I will never play it again though, since I played it too much at the time
>>531768230youre the closeted faggot who is projecting hard as fuck on me for speaking the truth right now, get lost, your game sucks
>>531768164Why are you so obsessed with rape weirdo
>>531768230They can be pretty dead
>>531768164She didn't avoid all consequences
She was scared that maybe people would be mad at her, which for her was very stressful
>>531766765>racist dwarf and his dark elf gf.jpg
>>531767607It's because she (accidentally) murdered her husband and she's hiding out in the Legion to avoid being put on trial and executed for it.
>>531738876>how do the events changeThey don't
I kissed Cassia's handkerchief, she owes me sex
Idira should have raped me.
Deldar don't rape lol
They torture
Eldar as a rule don't have sex outside their infrequent breeding cycles
>>531755345JUST ANNOUNCE IT ALREADY REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>531768426He is the most fun guy, I can't get enough of him (in a story companion sense). His voice actor also has nice timbre, feels appropriate for the character
>>531768398Whether it was rape or torture (ideally both) SOMETHING should have happened to her, it happens to genuinely every other member of your retinue. Her having nothing happen to her is really jarring and pulls you out of the story since it's obviously author fiat or outside interference that is preventing the logical conclusion from occurring given the setting and story you're oprating in.
>>531768446Yeah, damn, what a harsh fate. Truly tragic, no one had it harder than Argenta, having to watch other people suffer and shit, rather than actually suffering herself.
Computer RaPe Games General
bloody basterd bitch rape argenta now now now open bob show vagene
>>531756614There's a differently named beggar around the area you find yourself in. He has your shoes
>>531768906Idira had a terrible time too
She had to get a job
>>531768906But something happened though, she got fooled by the fake Commissar into dragging innocents to their deaths and started questioning her blind faith.
>>531768647Vect flat out has human sex slaves, yes they do rape, they rape all the time, they usually also torture while raping and rape while torturing, it's kind of a full on combo experience.
What non psyker build should I use for my heretic playthrough?
>>531769373Soldier arch mlitant for the heretic bolter experience
>>531769126Idira actually did get off pretty easy too, it's just that long term it would've pretty fucked up had she kept the hat on.
>>531769173She doesn't question shit, she just finally feels bad about lying to the RT the whole time about what happened to Theodora. She's still just as fanatical, she just gets tired of being a liar, which is explicitly because being a liar goes against her faith. She feels like she should've proudly declared what she did from the start, which is why if you agree with her actions she immediately perks up and is happy again.
>>531769173>A dumb girl gets fooled>people who would have died still dieOh no! Anyway...
>>531769340>VectWhere was this fag anyway
>Oh no Elantach I sure hope we don't somehow end up in the Court of Asdurabal Vect>That would be truly terrible! Then yeah you never do go there. I assumed it was all leading to that
>>531769447That does sound fun. Gotta make a beeline to that chaos marine in act 2
>>531769373There's a ton of Chaos Heavy Bolters, so obviously Soldier is your best bet. Fuck that other guy though, Soldier-MT is still far superior to Soldier-AM.
>nooo she has to get amputated and used as a spitroast by nigger elves
>>531768426Missionary with lots of kissing and handholding
>>531769641Yeah it actually is really weird Vect never shows up with all the foreshadowing he gets. Perhaps in the original script Argenta isn't raped until Vect shows up because he called dibs on prime SoB pussy.
>>531769712Exactly what Mr Owlcat wanted to avoid
>>531769873>>531769641It was planned but cut
There are etudes with names like yrliet_romance_vect_throneroom so something was supposed to happen
>>531769908You did not have to do permanent damage to her or have a full visual description of her torture and or rape, just something needed to actually happen to her the way it happened to everyone else. Also would've made her breakdown about Theodora more impactful if it was the result of actual, horrifying trauma she had endured.
rape is good, writers are just afraid of the truth and its consequences
>>531766174>honestly it didn't make sense that Heinrix, Cassia and Idira weren't killed outrightTervantias wasn't afraid of experimenting on psykers - he worked with Yremeryss, remember?
>>531769702MT sucks thoughbeit?
>>531770062Argenta as a whole feels half-assed so I guess they didn't care to come up with a torture.
>>531769641Because that littel kangaroo court you're having? It was supposed to happen in front of Vect instead of some literally who. Something went wrong though and they changed it
>>531770056Yet more proof the game was a rush job Act 3 and onwards.
>>531769641Dealing with something more important, like taking a dump
It feels like half of Argenta's content got cut and rewritten outright. Under GW's hennish oversight, it's just awkward that she's in the game at all with how little she interacts or really goes through anything compared to the others. Completely 2d character. Not a Mary Sue or whatever, but like trying to play with a friend whose parents won't let him say "darn", play video games, go outside, or stay at your house past 8 PM.
>>531770056I misread that as Vect_threesome lol
>>531770292Surely you jest, it's easily the best and strongest secondary archetype, and yes I include Executioner in that statement.
>>531770343Argenta is not half-assed up until Act 3, and honestly you could argue the entire game becomes half-assed at that point, so it's hardly a specific issue with her alone.
>>531770359Oh right that makes sense
I guess Vect might want to hear a case like that
Cooperating with mon'keigh is a serious crime
>>531768508I liked her more as a fren, I prefer northern european women
>>531770578nta but it ain't stronger than either AM nor GS
>>531770564Still thinking how great it would have been if yrliet and marazhai were siblings and yremeryss - their mom instead - and you could get a gang bang going
>>531770564That was Yrliet's originally planned torment
Added to the harem, along with Argenta
When Yrliet came to complain in her first talk on the ship, I thought she just hated lesbians
>>531770773Anon you have to stop thinking with your cock for at least 5 minutes a day
>>531770773>yrliet and marazhai were siblings and yremeryss - their mom insteadThat could actually work pretty well
Argenta should rape correct you if you go heratical.
>>531770942Ok, but it WOULD have been great. IT WOULD HAVE!
>>531770512I am tired of people blaming other companies for Owlcats own incompetence and unfinished garbage. The same claim was made about why Amiri wasn't a romance option in Kingmaker, for example, only for Paizo to flat out state that no, they didn't say not to do it, and they would've loved it if it happened. Unless you have actual proof GW is the reason Argentas content basically ceases to exist during and certainly past Act 3, you cannot make that claim.
Especially since the game as a whole starts to have glaring issues at that point, which lends far more credence to Owlcat, as usual, overscoping their planned content, being unable to finish and rushing it out the door as the shoddy and unpolished mess all their games become once you hit late game.
>>531771154Paizo is a bunch of fucking liars
>>531771154GW is somewhat less woke but infinitely more jewish than Pozzo so there's some merit to it
>>531770738Yeah, it is. It absolutely is, MT properly utilized is the strongest damage archetype in the game, and since RT is an Alpha Strike game damage is the only thing that matters.
I like Pasqal but I dislike his VA
>>531771316I really doubt they were lying about that when they specifically included romance arcs in their actual adventure paths with their iconic characters, so clearly they like the idea of players engaging with their creations in that way.
>>531771154I don't care about romance, I mean she literally has half the dialogue of all the other characters, and only the most basic of character development/reactivity flags. And then everything that does involve her in particular is sterilized. "post act 3" is a cope, other characters are great after that and she's also empty before it.
>>531765005The justification to recruit Marazhai is so you can fuck.
>>531770942WORDS FALL FROM MOUTH LIKE SHIT FROM ARSE
>>531764458I wish idira had a rape-themed romance. Doesn't matter if she or RT is doing the raping
Abelord scheduled my next playthrough of rogue trader, this time romancing the slutty elf.
>>531777924But she already does with vigdis
