I think the original premise was if john halo became a guardian. Metal bones don't give an advantage since there's exo guardians, but the enhanced reflexes, crazy strength, and magic luck are probably better building blocks for the light to work with than a regular human/exo/awoken.

For as much as they reference about old Chicago in these games, its ridiculous that we never go there. I get that designing environments is hard and there's different skills depending on what you're making but i feel like making a old abandoned city would be way easier than making a new alien world.

This is only kind of related but I remember a couple of years ago some guy made a video about it the Covenant would be able to attack the city from Destiny. He said yes but all of the comments were shitting on him which I thought was ridiculous. A covenant carrier is almost 10 times as large as Ghaul’s ship and Truth’s fleet was far larger than Ghaul’s. All they would really need to do is to get one ship in there to do a skip space jump and the entire city would be destroyed like in Halo 2 and ODST.

The covenant glass whole planets, and have fleets in the millions, with tens of thousands of ships that could wipe out modern earth on their own. The ammo meter system is largely very good, but has some confusing complications that hold it back, like the speed limit or relatively narrow Ammo Generation stat distribution.
The stat rework is going to be great long-term, but it's held back right now by actively going against the armor sets that people have previously farmed, and archetypes being heavily limited (also stat values being Tier locked).
The tiered loot system is a good idea and on paper could revitalize the game, but the way they've chosen to execute it in requiring 90~150 hours to get to the good part where you feel like your time farming isn't just busywork is blatant attempts at engagement farming. The reaction to the Encore farm being patched out tells the whole story: Players have realized how much time is locked up in the power grind, and want a way to abridge it, and oppose Bungie enforcing the speed limit. Apparently you can do farm infinite mats by doing the Weekly story mission and just go up to the first chest. Go to Orbit, and repeat. 5 minute loop.
You then use the mats to focus Keplar gear.

I've just finished the Lightfall campaign in Legendary and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. With everything I've read here and especially the memes around Nimbus, I was expecting a pure circus with no flavor but no, the story is overall interesting and the main characters very cool, whether it's Osiris and Caitl or Rohan and Nimbus. So yes, the Nimbus character overplays the naive, young-talking, head-first super-young side, but it wasn't unwatchable or unlistenable either.

I found the Legendary missions very straightforward, especially after doing the Final Shape ones, except for Calus, which still required me to concentrate.

It may come as a surprise, but I preferred this campaign to Final Shape's for two reasons: firstly, in Lightfall, we (the Guardian) are the main hero, whereas in Final Shape, I found that Zavala, Crow and Caides were the main characters and we were relegated to the background. Then because the atmosphere was science fiction, whereas Final Shape is almost pure heroic fantasy (the settings, the peregrinations with the different camps, etc.).

Nobody cares, but I wanted to pay homage to Lightfall.

You’re giving way too much credit and far too much faith in how this shit would translate to an audience that isn’t already aware of it. At best you’re looking at Halo show or Ass Creed Fassbender movie and nobody wants that.

I’m playing through this Edge of Fate opening mission, this is extremely solid so far.

There are small puzzles, you actually have to scour the environment, matterspark feels great to transition out of and back to shooting, the levels are all reset so you’re actually incentivised to use new weapons.

Even the fights feel slightly different. They feel more like Halo 2’s boss fights because the levels are tighter and evokes that 6th gen level design.

There’s even little points of interest in a Metroid fashion to take note of and come back to later.

I’m shocked at the gameplay quality of this for what’s a 6 month long expansion.

If Renegades and the other two play with gameplay ideas like EoF is doing right now, I’m sold.

Im shocked with how good it all feels, because it looked like ass on the streams.

I can’t relate to any of the criticism aimed at the campaign. I like Matterspark, I like Kepler — I even like Portal. Kepler feels like a Destiny-fied version of Metroid, with traversal mechanics, backtracking, and the way the world invites exploration. (Obviously, Metroid is much deeper and smarter, but you get the idea.)

they shot themselves in the foot when they decided to come up with the self-inflicted requirement that all portal activities must support the new difficulty tiers and customization
