Peter is the most likely culprit. He was always a reluctant, cautious ally. He never wanted the silver in his castle. His comments on the wall before Von Bergow revealed himself were to save face. He was going to advocate for negotiation until Hynek made it impossible.
The explanation for the escape was clearly bullshit. Zizka knows, and Henry is rightfully extremely skeptical. Zizka can't outright accuse Peter because that would risk Peter pulling his support for the defense, reputation be damned, and trying to barter a separate peace that may or may not include Zizka, Devil, and Henry. Zizka needs Peter's men, and everyone needs to believe Peter is acting of his own free will.
That's why that scene where Zizka preps Henry before their talk with Peter feels so weird. He has to stress the need for Henry's absolute show of support without making it too obvious why. As for why he didn't just explain all of that to Henry, who knows. This is just my theory but after several times playing through this section I feel very strongly about it. It just makes the most sense and explains why Peter and Zizka are acting so odd in the wake of Hynek shooting Von Aulitz.

So I finally played E33 because of everyone claiming that it's going to win goty over KCD2. And I have to admit that it is a really good game compared to the unfinished overpriced slop that the industry usually puts out, but the "it was all just a hecking dream!!!!" plot twist completely ruined it for me. I'm baffled that I haven't seen any criticism about that because what the actual fuck was that shit? Did the people praising this game to high heaven even finish it? KCD2 writing has flaws for sure but nothing on that level of abysmal dogshit.

I take my rp seriously. I also play straight Henry, not sure if that makes a difference, but I only adhere to this in public. If I'm interacting with Hans in private I have no problem busting his balls or disagreeing with him (within reason). As you said he's generally receptive to most of what you say regardless. I'm nta though, and I wouldn't characterize Hans as insufferable in the first half in any case. It's especially evident if you played the first game that Hans is literally having a profound existential crisis. His behavior is understandable. I don't like to be too hard on him, given he's your best friend, for that reason. Any soft balling or coddling has a lot more to do with that than any perceived power dynamic on Henry's part. I like to think Henry perceives that power dynamic as being more about responsibility than subservience. But hey, that's the beauty of a game as immersive and deep as this. There are no wrong ways to play or interpret it. Well, except evil Henry or shipping Bartosch Henry (it's the same thing btw).

Playing Brushes for the second time. I'm realizing it's ultimately about humoring old people. I don't mean that in a reductive or negative way. It's a quest about patience and empathy. Voyta is like that elderly relative that you really love but who is very difficult to deal with at times because of general age/dementia/mental illness. He's a beautiful, tortured soul and he truly means well.

Yeah his vagueness and fetch quests can be really annoying. I think that's kind of the point. I started to realize this when the third stage of the quest is jumping through hoops to let that old widow relive her youth she spent with her late husband. You trek through the mud to pick her flowers, fix her favorite dress, and tell her bullshit poetry. It's all so tedious and even in game Henry gets more and more annoyed, but it's the happiest she's been in many years. Granted I like the backstory that unfolds too, and Voyta's performance is great, but I think there's a touching message here that I didn't quite grasp the extent of the first time. If any of us are ever lucky to grow that old, albeit with the challenges that often brings, we'd be really blessed to have a friend like Henry.

It's even reinforced twice in a row when Henry, without question, backs up Hans in the initial brawl. Then Hans, without question, backs up Henry at the Semine brawl. Usually for an adult with zero education to begin with it takes longer than a few months to learn to read and write competently. I've read testimonies from people teaching literacy to adults and it's a slow and gruelling process even with a lot of resources and a non-stressful environment (the opposite of what Henry has to deal with). KCD1 handles the start of Theresa romance extremely clumsily, with Henry literally just being told by the NPC that he should fuck Theresa because she helped him and they’re both Skalitz survivors, which starts the quest. It’s very videogamey and not in a good way. I'm not sure if you have to do this first, but after you interrogate the bandit, when Hans asks what you think they should do, you answer "I reckon we shouldn't do anything". Then when Von Bergow questions you after, you tell him he's mistaken and no one in the region is helping the bandits. Iirc the Chamberlain even says some brown nose suck up shit like "Your subjects surely know better my lord". At the time I didn't guess what ALL was going on I just assumed it was more complicated than just Semine trying to kill Von Bergow and raid the countryside so I left well enough alone. Turns out that's the best choice in every way. You can actually talk to Semine and even Olda about this after the fact. Semine initially reproaches you for your behavior at the wedding but when you explain how you declined to incriminate him, despite the captured bandit implicating his family, he thanks you for saving his life and his lands. It's very clear by his reaction as well as other things you can learn throughout the game that Semine legitimately knew nothing and his son was acting on his own volition. While a good feeling in its own right, this all becomes infinitely more satisfying when you become aware of the whole situation, and how many lives Henry's restraint saved.

We're told he likes four things: hunting in the wild, no strings attached potentially dangerous sex, drinking, and fighting. For someone of his station, the first one and half of those things are escapism, and the rest are self-destruction. When he loses the hope of ever living up to Hanush's demands in KCD2 and faces the possibility of losing Henry too, it's unsurprising that his unconscious self-destructive tendencies turn conscious.

Wenceslas was legitimately known as a Jew-lover in his time and it wasn't a compliment. This reputation wasn't entirely deserved and what you say did happen on several occasions, but his reign is remembered as a decent time for Jews overall, especially compared to his dad and the later chaos. There was a synagogue and a large Jewish community just 10 km away from the center of Kutenberg in the royal city of Kolín, which originally owned the Kuttenberg silver mines. And yes, that Jewish community got hit by Sigismund during his invasion. If you want to portray this part of history — which your Czech audience would expect you to because they know it — and don't want to render a whole new city just north from Grund, then compressing these events into Kuttenberg is entirely reasonable.

Except the Hussites weren't Lutherans. The beginning of the Hussite revolution was a good time for Jews, because some restrictions on them got lifted, the super-religious Hussites emphasized the importance of the Old Testament (i.e. the Hebrew Bible) over the later Greek additions of the New Testament, and many alternative religious and social movements sprung up at that time in general. This would go extremely downhill later during the Hussite Wars, but KCD2 takes place twenty years before that point.

KCD2 is about as mainstream Czech history as it gets, hence its immense popularity at home. If early 15th century is too woke for you, it's unironically a you problem.
