Previous Thread: >>530247602

A thread for all vehicle simulation games: racing sims, flight sims, train sims, submarine sims, tank sims, anything else sims which do not have enough traffic to sustain their own independent generals.

luckily you can just, mod the legacy one back in, so really im just bitching about "getting additional cars". i guess modding will taper off of the legacy one because its no longer default.

theres also a surprising lack of derby attachments and equipment. im actually legt considering learning how to make models (again) to pump them out. very, very simple models of just diy redneck armor. it would be very simple, and easy to pump out like 10 different styles of external "roll cage", so this weekend imma start figuring it out (again).

I'd use REX for weather textures and ActiveSky for live weather, or the other way round I can't remember. no offence and I don't want to turn this into /pol/ but if you're indian then why should anyone let you in? Everywhere you go you behave badly, I keep seeing videos on social media of places that were clean like Norway starting to have a few indians and they immediately start littering everywhere even on pristine mountain trails and act like it's the most normal thing.
We've seen with the UK and Canada what happens with mass immigration so you can't really fault countries and people for not wanting you.

Yeah, in MSFS usually what gets me going is the actual flying and sightseeing. It's the reason I like trainers so much there since they are a nice in-between.
Meanwhile the Rafale feels kinda wasted in such a sim, dropping bombs, doing BFM and BVR engagement etc seems more natural but you can't do it in MSFS. Granted that we'll have to see with the HB F-2000 in DCS just how much they will actually model, because if it ends up like another F-16 at launch then I'll just keep flying in MSFS.

I know what you mean and I agree, that's what I avoid getting military planes for civsims if I know they could be used in DCS. What has changed now though is the weaponry in MSFS where devs now make functioning missiles and bombs that explode on impact, obviously still doesn't damage buildings but it's something. I'll still might get the A-1 for MSFS though even though I know there's one in development for DCS. The C-130 for DCS is the other way round though, that seems stupid.

>What has changed now though is the weaponry in MSFS where devs now make functioning missiles and bombs that explode on impact
Oh yeah I forgot about that. If I could even just have a somewhat realistic bomb release physics in MSFS like in Xplane12 I doubt I would ever go back to DCS beside the usual 3-4 months fixation I have every winter.
>The C-130 for DCS is the other way round though, that seems stupid.
I tought the same too. Unless you had a dynamic campaign closer to what I heard the BMS ones are like, I don't see how it would make sense beside for people who really like the plane in general. You could use it to do very short resupply runs in multiplayer and that's it.
If they were ever to do a C-27J module for DCS I would probably buy it but just to replicate the display shows the RSV does.

My grandfather noticed this too, Aviation has been priced out of the private pilot market. If you're not directly sponsored by a multi-million dollar multinational business, there's no hope of you ever being able to recreationally own any of the planes you see in flight simulators.

Now old shitboxes from the 50s and 60s? Those are the things the little people can own, and even then it costs an exorbitant amount.

I imagine they could just take the work they've done, polish it up a bit, and put it on FS2020/2024. But that takes time, that takes money, that takes manpower they may not have anymore. They can be used to shoot down incoming missiles. Or fire them off and then fire off your scythes since currently you can't dump flares and jam at the same time.

Well it took 4 hours, but I have the startup sequence down and can hover, transition, and cruise a nav plan in the ah-64d. I'm using the bare minimum bindings though. And learning what helo trim is. Still not 100% on it. Since I am not 100% on what causes the innate spin. Could be a combination of too much torque too quickly, my shitty rudder pedals(I even unbound them and moved rudder to my combat stick's twist), and whatever simulated trim is actually doing. I accidentally'd into how to arm my rockets and did a casual fratricide while I lost control of my attitude. All in all, successful day getting all my peripherals reconnected and calibrated. With the exception of my rudder pedals.

I only have a shortlist of goals. Once I do another day or two of navigation with some fun little evasive manuevers, I'll do some weapons employment and finish up with a deck landing.

It takes a little while to get the feel of how attitude hold releases its authority, also keep and eye on the little box around your torque readout in the upper left of the IHADDS, it's the easiest way to tell when you are pushing the aircraft too hard.
The Apache is a heavy bird with a lot of power so that it can lift a shitload of weapons and fuel, so its flight envelope just gets kinda bent out of shape sometimes.
Once you learn it though, it is an incredibly nimble and forgiving helicopter, just have to not fight it.

The pornpocalypse should scare every person in this thread because what is exactly stopping Visa/Mastercard from doing the same shit with ED? It's almost unofficially officially a Russian company who hides out in Cyprus and South Africa to keep from being sanctioned. One feminist cunt screaming at Visa and Mastercard that they are actually a Russian company and every module goes to Putler's pockets #FreeUkraine would mean we lose access to literally all of it, probably wouldn't even get to play anymore since it's all server based and freeloaders don't pay server fees.

I can't remember what the POH used to say, the company I flew for was relatively flash in terms of aircraft fitout compared to most other operators; we had air con, weather radar, and an expensive Shadin fuel flow meters, so our company procedures was to set power, then lean it to 12 gallons an hour fuel flow. We're in the midst of a new one. Itch just took down close to 21,000 NSFW games (not specifically porn, just NSFW) last night, this started last week when Steam took down about 100 porn games which is peanuts by comparison.

It's Mastercard and Visa again but this time they're being puppeted by an Australian feminist group. But this is a huge security vulnerability in our financial supply chain because literally anyone can do it. The Australian feminist group bragged about getting these 21K games taken down with 1000 emails to Visa/Mastercards CEOs. That's nothing. You or I could do that with AI in an afternoon and it would look convincing. Basically if you want to cancel any business in the US, just send emails to these two CEOs and it literally locks them out of using money in general

MSFS is fantastic, and I still like FSX even though it's showing its age.
The #1 thing about civ flight sims I like over flying IRL is the pilotage. I can't jump in a 1930s DC-3 and use low-frequency radio range to navigate across a foggy mountain range at night. But I can do that in MSFS. I also have no reason or lack the equipment to perform a cross-country flight into Alaska using exclusively radio navaids and dead reckoning on this e6b that may as well be a paperweight in my flight bag. I can do that in MSFS

Flying is just a fun hobby in general if you really like the technical side of it. Only real downside is the price.

idk honestly you lose a lot not being there and feeling it, but at the same time much of the fun parts of aviation aren't the actual flying parts, it's the procedure parts. Most of flying is the way it is because if you follow the basic guidelines: It doesn't really matter what you are flying or how true-to-life it handles because the procedure to fly the plane has been made to be as generic and simple as possible to where it applies to as many planes of its type as possible.

Case in point: I was flying the Cub that was on sale on MSFS' marketplace because I'm a cuck that buys modules. I think it's far too light and balanced nose-up compared to the real J-3 I've flown, but the handling differences can be explained as just differences in age, weight, and balance. The visual cues in the pattern and during cruise are absolutely spot-on, and the RPM setpoints are close enough to where I would have to squint to really see a difference. That's what really matters more than differences in stick and handling IMO unless you get into real aerobatic stuff which I'm not an aerobatic pilot so idk. It still stalls and spins like a cub should and that's my only real experience to compare it to.

Falcon 5 two weeks.

Actually idk, it's a good question. What happens when the market leader croaks and it becomes clear the market leader wasn't exactly making bank to begin with? BMS is great, I love BMS, it's still based on a now-25 year old engine that keeps being soldered and bolted onto in order to add new features.

It would be nice if we could get a new Falcon 4 but the first Falcon 4 was so ambitious it killed the company that made it. Someone said there's a Falcon 5 in the works but that could just be trolling.

As far as attitude hold in the Apache, it is a bit of a crutch, but it's a crutch that makes the aircraft fly how it was designed. I take it off to maneuver, but when I start going in a straight line at a constant speed I throw it on (it will also auto trim your tail out, which is nice), and I turn it on when I get into a hover, then turn altitude hold on, because it really can anchor you in place nicely. Sometimes a fully assisted hover just kinda breaks though, I know ED has reworked that part a few times to be more forgiving, so I'm not sure if the current behavior is still bugged or actually accurate to the IRL behavior.

Yeah. I don't think you can go cheaper and still have two seats. Or a flying aircraft. I believe aircrafts like those are quite dangerous, especially because they're required to fly very low: when something goes wrong you have very little energy to use to get down safely, but this depends heavily on each nation's air rules. IIRC my friend managed to get down and do an emergency landing in a field, but he couldn't align with the plowing direction so when he touched down the nose wheel got trapped and basically crashed the nose into the ground. He probably would have gotten away with it if he had big bush wheels.

I have not flown the apache, but spinning is the natural state of helicopters. The amount of rudder you need to not spin constantly varies. The big spinning rotor blade above your head turns counterclockwise, which forces the body of the helicopter to turn in the other direction to counter its momentum.
"Rudder" pedals in helicopters are actually antitorque pedals, because they counter the torque of the rotor.

This fucking final contract on Deluge in Roadcraft is bullshit. I'm gonna have to pave a whole fucking road just because they refuse to give the AI decent trucks. These cement trucks don't have diff lock or AWD and got no power whatsoever, so even a slight incline is enough to stall them. I don't mind having to make a road, but I absolutely mind when I'm being forced to make an interstate purely for two vehicles that I'll only ever use once.

Just give these AI trucks AWD/Diff lock.

After a lifetime of arcade games, I’ve been taking it much more seriously the past 6 months, and I’m starting to grow tired of GT7’s physics, where getting faster than I am to push the ‘aliens’ times, it’s just abusing the dodgy mechanics.

And I think even if I had a PC, the other games I’d usually play (Diablo/casual shooters) are best played laid out on the sofa on the console.

IIRC some have automated mixture, but for the most part you want the ability to set mixture yourself because checklist says always mix full-rich for landing to give your engine the best chance it has to pull the best horsepower it can. So you need the ability to mix full-rich, mix lean for cruise, and full lean for a full-stop. Definitely don't want to leave that kind of thing to a computer because it can't tell just from your altitude.

My angle wasn't even that, I have no idea who is in the wrong and I don't care. My opinion is that when you are the ED, a distributor/main developer etc, you should go past who is right or wrong and work towards a solution that benefits your customers first and foremosts.
This isn't even having morals, it's simple business 101.
Imagine you're doing some kind of work for your customers cars and due to a shitty supplier the work you've done isn't up to standards anymore.
You could easily say "fuck it, it's not my fault" and you'll save yourself a few headaches, lose your clients and be done with it. But those lost customers will talk and you'll lose future sales and your reputation.
If you instead decide to fix the issue even if it wasn't your fault you'll have grateful customers who will recommend you, have more confidence in buying your future products and improve your reputation.
Sadly ED customers for the most part are whales who openly admit to buying modules "just to support DCS" as if they were your local mom and pop shop instead of a greedy company that doesn't care in the least about their customers like all big corporations/brands.

The actual secret sauce parameters like MEZ WEZ etc are never given to these contractors and aren't even implemented into the simulators. How the SMS and other interfaces work aren't really THAT classified. Classified enough that you cannot use them in a commercial endeavor, but it's not like any country would really benefit from having those.
I have no data to back this up but I'm sure that the civilian side of DCS rakes in a lot more money than the mil side. I work in a similar enviroment where we both sell to govts and civs and the civs market is our main source of income.

F. We have had a shitload of SMLEs here so a lot of them got molested but what's left of surplus rifles mostly go unbothered these days.

I used a webcam and opentracks AI plugin for a while and that worked pretty good
I ended up replacing the webcam with one of those PS3 eyetoys recently and those seem to be even better, face tracking was much less janky at the weirder angles, particularly looking up and down. I'd recommend one, I got one used for like 15-20 NZD. If I recall you can also get some 3rd party clips that let you properly stick it on your monitor like a normal webcam, rather than the bodged blu tac route I'm currently using lol

Any expert here can tell me what I'm doing wrong with IR missiles in Nuclear Option? I have never had one connect to the point I just gave up load scythes or scimitars instead.

in DCS IR missiles will track their target only when you can hear a high pitch tone that signals they have locked a high heat source. They are also short range. I don't know how it works in nuclear option

I'll never understand women. They can have almost perfect lives and husband and will still ruin it for some sex with a stranger. I've literally had a bitch drag me with her to fuck (i'm just a regular fat fuck, never tried anything with her either, i actively told her no but eventually went along) only to tell me 2 days later she had a husband. And from what i learned, dude was lovely, they had a nice house, like, the fuck.
Honestly i'm glad its over, my planes and helicopters would NEVER.

One thing that I do like about Aerofly is that it has an actual time skip function so I can just skip to my top of descent, not just time acceleration. So I can actually fly the large airliners without having to dedicate several hours to each flight.

I don't know, especially because stuff like the aerodynamics are actually really thought out and better than MSFS. I think Aerofly was predominately a glider sim when it started out.

I want VTOL VR but not VR. It's just the perfect level of realism, but I can't be bothered to put on a headset to game. Nuclear Option is close, but just a bit more systems simulation, a bit less chaotic gameplay, and slightly larger map would be nice.
