fighter jet sim? DCS.
fighter pilot sim? BMS.

>>531768273
Oh yeah, I noticed it as well. Didn't drive it much since I prefer older cars, but it's sad nonetheless. The bus is pretty cool though - I've never driven a lot of them in vidya but I'm finding steering one a lot of fun.

>>531768542
they mostly discuss arcade game though. I think that actual full blown sims (think OMSI 2, the like) should mostly stay here.

luckily you can just, mod the legacy one back in, so really im just bitching about "getting additional cars". i guess modding will taper off of the legacy one because its no longer default.

theres also a surprising lack of derby attachments and equipment. im actually legt considering learning how to make models (again) to pump them out. very, very simple models of just diy redneck armor. it would be very simple, and easy to pump out like 10 different styles of external "roll cage", so this weekend imma start figuring it out (again).

Probably not.
Not sure why nobody mentioned it here.
Didn't see it on the flight sim subreddits either.
I get that the devs are coders first and unpaid, so PR is nil, but I expected more organic hype given how impressive and long in coming its been.
I must just be that much of a boomer now, kids don't even know BMS exists.

It's definitely impressive and I look forward to trying it out in the future some time but for me, no FFB, and the only full-cockpit ground attack bird being FBW anyway means I'll still give it a miss for now. Very impressive what they've done from where they started now though.

Does IL-2 model non-combat malfunctions at all? I feel like the answer is no, at least for the WW1 planes. I mean you can overheat your engine and shit like that but nothing ever breaks unless bullets hit it.

Is the gigantic pack of FSX mods still available? We used to have a mega that had pretty much everything you needed to make it look good and add shittons of planes. I like FS2020 but it just lacks some of the hand-crafted addons and nuance FSX had.

I used to use GEX+RTX for terrain but abandoned them in favour of the OrbX country packs as they were miles ahead. I'd use REX for weather textures and ActiveSky for live weather, or the other way round I can't remember. Honestly the amount of addons made for MSFS in the past 5 years is mental so there's not that much missing. The Dash 8 is the main one along with some A2A planes.

no offence and I don't want to turn this into /pol/ but if you're indian then why should anyone let you in? Everywhere you go you behave badly, I keep seeing videos on social media of places that were clean like Norway starting to have a few indians and they immediately start littering everywhere even on pristine mountain trails and act like it's the most normal thing.
We've seen with the UK and Canada what happens with mass immigration so you can't really fault countries and people for not wanting you.

Yeah, in MSFS usually what gets me going is the actual flying and sightseeing. It's the reason I like trainers so much there since they are a nice in-between.
Meanwhile the Rafale feels kinda wasted in such a sim, dropping bombs, doing BFM and BVR engagement etc seems more natural but you can't do it in MSFS. Granted that we'll have to see with the HB F-2000 in DCS just how much they will actually model, because if it ends up like another F-16 at launch then I'll just keep flying in MSFS.

I know what you mean and I agree, that's what I avoid getting military planes for civsims if I know they could be used in DCS. What has changed now though is the weaponry in MSFS where devs now make functioning missiles and bombs that explode on impact, obviously still doesn't damage buildings but it's something. I'll still might get the A-1 for MSFS though even though I know there's one in development for DCS. The C-130 for DCS is the other way round though, that seems stupid.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. If I could even just have a somewhat realistic bomb release physics in MSFS like in Xplane12 I doubt I would ever go back to DCS beside the usual 3-4 months fixation I have every winter.
>The C-130 for DCS is the other way round though, that seems stupid.
I tought the same too. Unless you had a dynamic campaign closer to what I heard the BMS ones are like, I don't see how it would make sense beside for people who really like the plane in general. You could use it to do very short resupply runs in multiplayer and that's it.
If they were ever to do a C-27J module for DCS I would probably buy it but just to replicate the display shows the RSV does.

I wanted to fly since I was 6 but was considered too depressed to even touch a yoke until I moved out. Flight Sims became my cope for that when I was very, very young and I've just kept it up even after I got a PPL.

It's been fun seeing all the little differences between reality vs the things I grew up with. Honestly these simulators are more accurate than I thought they were when I first started.

My grandfather noticed this too, Aviation has been priced out of the private pilot market. If you're not directly sponsored by a multi-million dollar multinational business, there's no hope of you ever being able to recreationally own any of the planes you see in flight simulators.

Now old shitboxes from the 50s and 60s? Those are the things the little people can own, and even then it costs an exorbitant amount.

you literally cannot fly if you even are suspected of having had depression in the past. Hell, there are pilots who have been grounded for having posted that they were sad at their own immediate family passing away.

Here in Italy regarding buying funs, it's not so clear cut. You can't get your license if you're currently taking medications for depressions or have an actual mental illness but if you were depressed and now aren't in treatment anymore then you can get it. One of the guys I go to the range with often goes to therapy for mild depression and he still has his guns.

Not actually true, our laws are confusing but you can own a 50 calibre rifle if you wanted to, but you'd need to be a member of a gun club. It gets weird with handguns, which were banned in the 90s (apart from in norn iron) after a school shooting, if you stick a bit of metal on the handle of say a revolver, it's now legal as it's a longer weapon. You can own guns here you just need a good reason.

Well that's the thing: Razbam originally came from making FSX mods. They had one of the most popular F-18 and EF-2000 mods in FSX back in the day. Like before they were modules in DCS.

I imagine they could just take the work they've done, polish it up a bit, and put it on FS2020/2024. But that takes time, that takes money, that takes manpower they may not have anymore. It's definitely set them back, and if they ever re-release any of their stuff for FS2020 I'm 100% on board with buying it again

>the Cricket doesn't seem to have any substantial advantage over the Chicane
It's supposed to have better optical sensors and it's a little faster, but there's a reason it's the cheapest lowest tier aircraft.
>IR missiles are a waste of hardpoints unless you can get to gun range because they get 100% spoofed by flares
They can be used to shoot down incoming missiles. Or fire them off and then fire off your scythes since currently you can't dump flares and jam at the same time.
>why would I ever load anything but AGM and the 76 on the Tarantula?
Useful to capture airbases, replace stratolance radar, or sometimes dropping munitions containers.

AI generally doesn't respond in time if you launch an IR missiles from within 4km especially if you have airspeed already, and a shot looking down the hot tailpipe of a jet can semi-reliably kill.
>Compass
Designated shardslayer
>Revoker
If you want to fill external hardpoints, might as well take the Revoker over the Vortex, since both will have big RCS anyway. The nose pointing authority with the 3D vectoring nozzle is insane.

I vaguely remember installing dcs world years ago and to intentionally avoid dcs steam world for some reason. I actually remember it being a good reason and not just drm autism. It was like peripheral interface or updates or something.

Can someone refresh me on why? I see the franchise is on sale on steam and my sticks/pedals have been collecting dust for months.

All I want is a jet, a helicopter, and a terrain

I don't think there is any actual good reason now. Maybe in the past?
The DRM is there even on the standalone version.
What Steam doesn't have is the free trial every 6 months but that's that.

Not exactly a blunder but they're both complex aircraft with a lot of systems to learn.
you have pedals so you're already ahead of most aspiring rotorheads, use the OH-6 mod as a trainer if you're crashing a lot.
combined arms is a fucking meme honestly, only use is scenic drives, LARPing, and trolling MP servers that forget to block the JTAC slot

Since you're around, whats the proper leaning procedure? In MSFS I lean it until peak fuel flow, because I noticed fuel flow increases then decreases after leaning past a certain point, which I'm not sure actually makes sense. I'm too gay and lazy to read the POH
