I'm a big fan of the mecha musume angle which Melusines armor did in her standard design, and I really love the idea of one of her bikini alts being a larger size mecha musume design that also plays into her jet-like aspects and uses Albions wings like her final ascension in her base version.

Welcome to FGO. This is how it is. You make do with welfares and low-rarities and spend ages saving to blow your whole load for a single SSR you really want/need. Because the EN server is 2 years behind, most people here tend to save up all year and dump their sq on only 1 or 2 rateups.

The main source of sq for you for a very long time will be just catching up with the story and doing Interludes/Rankups as you unlock them. The game will also dump some on you in the form of new player progression quests and whatnot.

Events provide a pittance of sq. They're mainly for various materials used to strengthen your servants and also usually provide a welfare SR.

Waver + a borrowed Castoria with whatever welfares you can unlock from Davinci's shop will be enough to farm and to advance the story for a good long while. Don't worry about chasing meta just yet, you're way off.

You don't really even need the servants you have, the game is just a little slower for you if you don't have them to steam roll. FGO's not very hard, and it's not balanced around the super powerful servants. I mean, the higher difficulty stuff is, but you don't have to do the higher difficulty content if you find it too bothersome for your teams. They just keep upping the high difficulty stakes so the whales and year-1 players have something to focus on. As a newbie you don't have to worry about 90+ or 90++ content since it's not meant for you. Focus on what you can do with what you have.

As to Oberon, he's a busted support servant that will overclock any team you put him into, but strictly speaking he's only "necessary" if you intend on doing the hardest content in the game where such overclocking is factored into the balance.

The game gives different difficulty nodes. Simple setups (double Skadi, double Castoria) can manage up to level 90 nodes which will allow you to clear event shops and lotteries. If you want more than that, then you try the more complicated setups with vitch, Oberon, crane etc. Diminishing returns though.

Challenge/high difficulty quests are the other thing you want particular servants for which have type advantage or so be particular gameplay (massive crit boost, deck lock, NP spam etc).

Yes. You shouldn't stress about it. Oberon is a truly broken and powerful support but to get the most out of him you need to be able to buff stack. His unique thing is he doubles the NP damage modifier on a servant for 1 turn, so to get the most out of that you have to be able to stack NP damage buffs, but the way FGO's damage calculations work it is better to use a combination of buff types rather than to stack one type. Oberon can only really provide 1 type of damage buff. He does have a buster buff tied to his NP damage doubling skill, but that doesn't do anything for arts / quick servants that still want to make use of his NP damage doubling. So he is more a servant that you stack onto an already powerful team that makes them super, ultra powerful. Cause that level of power is what you need to clear the hardest content in the game quickly.

So if you're not trying to one shot a boss with 3 million HP, for example, Oberon isn't really "necessary". He charge a single servant's NP by 70% and can make anyone do insane damage, and that's pretty much always useful in every context, but most of the content in the game doesn't require you to do millions of damage so you wouldn't be using him to his maximum effect in that case, and you could easily do the same thing he provides with, say, Waver, or Castoria, or Reines.

Any servant that can provide that much charge is valuable to a new player, but I still think if you had to have only one charging support out of any of them, I'd pick Castoria, simply because she's so powerful in so many different kinds of content. You can take her into boss fights, CQs, general farming, story, anything at all, and she'll add immense value. She buffs attack, she makes people invulnerable, she clears the whole party's debuffs. Even if your damage dealers aren't arts she's so nice to have.

Neither does Oberon. Actually most of the new meta servants don't seem to have healing baked into their kits. Merlin has it, so does Tamamo, but they're kinda outmoded meta supports at this point. Granted I still actually use Merlin a lot. He never gets truly powercrept.

Healing just isn't very relevant anymore because most content is done in the minimal amount of turns and the rare thing you can't just balls out deathrace is probably either oneshotting party members or just generally killing someone every turn no matter how much healing you stack on. Since you already have Vitch, Oberon would be a very good choice. They combo together really well.
Double Skadi (ie your own plus a friend's) can allow a number of Quick servants to loop for quick farming. A lot of the compatible servants are SRs.

Double Vitch + Oberon can do a similar thing with AoE buster servants.

The point of this kind of 'meta' stuff is to just make your life easier by reducing farming nodes to 100% consistent minimum-turn setups so you aren't wasting your life on them.
