The event was obviously going to be dumbass misery/drama shit once they announced she was going to be in it. The way it is now, it just seems really forced because they just needed drama inserted into this. I'm going to be honest. I genuinely think Uma musume is going to fail in EN. I'm a day 1 jp player on that game and that still play. If you think Nikke is greedy, you haven't met Uma musume. In the game, you need at least 4-5 copies of a support card for it to be useful. There are so many trash supports in the banner that non rate up banner SSR's might as well be useless, there are also always 2 rate up units in the same banner. Those support SSRs also creep fast. There will be required SSRs for specific scenarios that will mandatory take up a rental if you didn't pull, and new scenarios will be released every 3 months, making that scenario SSR permanently useless. There is no carry over pity. The odds are even worse than Nikke. There are character and support banners as well. It took them 1-2+ years to even give the smallest QoL like simple having shop items stack, and removing the 1 hour cooldown for shops. It took 4 years for the game to even tell you what each choice gives you without memorizing, using a third party OSR app, or googling. It took even longer to release an auto play mode. It took until recently for the game to even tell you the specifics of what the pvp event requires before the pvp event actually starts, you actually have to do your own research on the RL tracks to know what to build.The main gameplay loop has changed very minimally other than power creep and mundane scenario mechanics. Uma musume is solely a PVP centric whale game, the only true content is PVP. Your competitive units in general do not carry over to the next monthly pvp content, to do decently expect to do a minimum of dozens inheritance runs before even doing your main run. Each run on some scenarios can take 50minutes+ with an OSR third party app. Circle/guild is determined by how many fans (basically runs) you do, and expect to be doing multiple dozens of these long as runs a month to be a decent contributor to your circle/guild. Uma musume is a hardcore/tryhard game.

first you need to decide if you will pull for power or for sex
then you have to consider if the unit is a 1% banner, usually pilgrims like dorothy right now
for those banners it is better to just buy the unit for 200 gold tickets in the shop, and you get said tickets by then rolling on non-pilgrim banners

if you just started and don't have enough tickets to buy her, then simply roll and pray

What's even worse is that the highest value Uma musume banners are all premium currency only banners. The rates are horrible but anniversary allows you to spend 10k yen for jewels and a pick your own SSR item. You will never get every card/unit because they release new card/character banners every week. I heard EN will be running at 20-30% the speed of JP to catch up so it will be even worse.
People have been trashing SU on Nikke but imho, SU is one of the fastest responding gaccha companies I've ever seen. When the community asks SU usually gives or fixes fairly quickly. Playing games like Uma musume where the developer only puts simple QoL updates literally years after. Uma musume is carried by actual horse racing culture in Japan, I doubt most people knew anything about JP horseracing before even watching the uma musume anime. I feel like EN people are just bandwagoning the super popular Japanese games blindly. I'm pretty sure in 1-2 years the EN playerbase will be dead.
