Based on sv1, I noticed that some decks just work for me and some don't. I'd probably learn them eventually if I kept playing them, but they just don't click.

It may feel like there's lots of RNG involve, and there is, but there's still a certain element of strategy. In WB, I've exclusively played spellboost and I learned some things about the deck that have made me win games, such as
>being passive/defensive and just trying to reach turn 10 with satan+dshift loses you most games
>various specific, deck-based insights like if you're going 2nd against portal, using the +1pp on turn 6 to drop Kuon can fuck them over because they can't respond with Orchis yet
in addition to various more general insights I learned playing sv1 like
>the enemy doesn't always have the exact cards they need in hand: if you never take risks, you never capitalize on enemy bricks; sometimes they have the exact answer and your risk materialized, but sometimes they just can't answer your play

Sometimes it might feel like there isn't really anything you can do about your enemy doing this and that, but a lot of the time there actually is some specific play you can do to counter something they do. Knowing exactly what your opponent can do to kill you and when, for example, is something you need to know to be able to understand when to go face and when to trade.

If you play spellboost without having any idea of the deck, you might be tempted to play defensive, in which case you never make your enemy burn sevos defensively, resulting in them just killing you with banked up plays. When I started playing WB, I lost to portals just doing double sevo orchis with banked up dolls because I wasn't forcing them to clear boards.

It's pretty obvious when you know what you're doing but if anon is struggling, anything could help. It takes a while to get into whatever deck you're playing.

Depends on what list you run, but before infinity for example, people were running blaze destroyers again. You'd win against portal and sword sometimes just by having A&G and a blaze or two on turn 5-6.

Most matches you probably do win on turn 10 if you win, but getting there alive usually involves trying to pressure your enemy with boards instead of just defensively killing whatever they put down.

I just played the longest, shittiest match of my life as Midrange Abyss vs some sort of Portal Artifact build. I don't know what the FUCK happened to the Portal player, but it took him until turn 20 and the second Gundam for him to finally grind me down. This is after he made some disgusting Alpha piece with three icarus and the invincibility effect stacked on it, so he just had complete nonsense card advantage. I kinda knew I had lost after I was forced to spend my second GinYuz because I still only have two, but it felt like a shame to scoop up after so long. It didn't feel like a GOOD endgame match where both players are slugging it out, it just felt like me barely keeping my head above water while waiting to die.

They're both games that play for longer grinds but midrange is proactive while control is reactive. Midrange does this by trying to out value the opponent with better cards and threats until the opponent runs out of answers and they win. The deck is a knowledge check, some crafts have trouble clearing certain boards and its your job to know it. Some crafts hate wide boards, some hate big ones, some hate ones that come back even if its a 1/1.

For example against Rune they usually drop Anne, anne can deal with 3 threats so if you have the thing that makes 2 skellies when die and another thing in board they cant fully clear. I actually hate that shit when I play against rune, the game can escalate out of that.

The Rune matchup is just played differently from others. You have to play more aggressively to consistently push face damage. Force their Williams out early and then continue to board flood to threaten a Cerberus lethal. Once it gets around turn 10, if you haven't finished them off, ward up to block a Kuon lethal and also threaten your own. No point in playing around the Satan at that point. You just hope you pressured them enough where they couldn't draw enough or they had to use their sevos.

This game is all about accumulative damage, clearing board and trying to make your board stick, focus on that at first. First try to always clear enemy board, then always try to have an actual board after clearing, finally learn to do those 2 things while also sneaking damage.

Your final goal is to do all of those 3 things while also using evo point to push face. Most games you manage to do that you win the game.
