Why does Owlcat waste time with balancing when the main focus of their games is story and romance? Not the combat like the loud minority wants to believe.

Been a 40k tabletop/RPG nerd for decades and bought this game on release but have been procrastinating on starting it until now. Really enjoying the scope of the game and it's one of the first time Ive sat and read every bit of dialogue and wanted to do every side quest. Im fairly fresh into act 2 and systematically exploring every planet after I got scammed in act 1 by accidently starting my ceremony before doing two of the POIs. Playthrough is currently 100% blind but I have some questions now.

>Most companions seems good except for Idira who seems intended for a heretical aligned run. She summoned Daemons in almost every encounter in act 1. Since then Ive also benched the Navigator, Elf, Taxman, and regrettably dear sweet Abelard. Do I need to rotate them into the squad roster to trigger their companion quests?
>Sister Argenta (commissar), Kibellah (executioner), and Heinrix (arch-militant) are my current damage dealers and occasionally just wipe encounters on their own. Jae's RPG related stats are out of fucking control and serves as my sniper/operator/tactician, Pasqual is there as tech support, anti-armour and to buff Argenta. My MC is an officer/overseer (that latter also seems bad relatively, I feel like I should respec). Fuck no, you'll run out of miners. Don't stick anything on plasteel less than 6, but some others are more rare like xenotech or mechanisms. However you can remove them and redeploy so it's fine

No but certain Act 2 quests will fail if you progress to Act 3 without doing them (it should be pretty clear what triggers this)

Nah not necessarily. She's in danger from demons but doesn't like them or support them. However a heretic run has a special use for her. And her demon summoning problem drops off as she gains power, it stopped being an issue for me once out of Footfall

Once your colonies are up and running you'll be swimming in PF. As for rep, transfer all trash items you pick up into cargo, and you should be able to build up enough to all the merchants. I would focus on explorators first but that's just me. Navy is easy since they're the only ones who take ship items.

Yes it's fine. You can't lose a companion that way.

As for your party, seems fine, but Idira annihilates as an Overseer, since her cyberraven lets her turn some single-target spells into AoE spells, especially after you trigger one of her Heroic Abilities to make this redirection work for all offensive spells

You can, but I use it for turning on remote dialogue so all companions will chime in with remarks about what's happening, not just the ones in your party.
I've also used it to manually trigger quests, like a certain DLC one that was supposed to happen after so many warp jumps but never did.
Other things too, like the "True Romance Ending" flag not triggering for some of the waifus despite the quests being done because there were two flags with identical names (slavjank code)

is Heretic run really just a worse experience? As in just missing content? I was thinking of trying it next but that's the impression I've been getting
