Do I equip beam cannon to deal with aquila/falcon on Mashmak

the problem with Welkin is that he's a bit too good at everything. Cannon, check. Shield, check. Lots of armor, check. Gap closer, check. Spin-to-win attack that one-shots most light to medium mechs, check. Inescapable box, check.
See what I mean? Yeah, Aquila can stun him (if he doesn't have his shield in front of him while he's whacking you...) but most others don't seem to have an answer outside of.. Tricera maybe? You'd need someone with a shield who is really good at parrying.

I'd be happy if they took away his shield and his cannon. Maybe tone down his melee damage, although his pick rate would plummet down to 0%. But right now it feels like his pick rate is near 100% so something needs to be done.

During first alpha skyraider's energy bubble missles was the designated payload-Tricera killer. But since 2nd alpha they buffed Tricera and gave it anti-missile turrets while in fortress mode, and skyraider lost its one and only selling point.
That being said in 1.0 they buffed skyraider a bit by giving it more health. The energy missile is still useless because of the Tricera anti-missile thing, but skyraider's main weapon and cluster bombs turns out to be pretty good at harassing isolated light/medium mechs. Tl:dr you just play it like a falcon, use your main laser weapon and bombs to harass light mechs and snipers while avoiding wasting ammo on heavy mechs.

He's not dangerous but he is obnoxios, he WILL park in range of an objective or, on some maps, two, and will do nothing but stop you from doing said objectives. And if you try to focus it his team will fuck you, and if you try to focus the team there's a fucking welkin right there shoving his axe right down your throat so far your descendants can feel it, all the while this cunt is peppering you with his guns and howitzer.

Luminae sucks ass outside a super well coordinated team.
In 6v6 statistics Pinaka is at the top and Luminae at the bottom.
I suspect the meta settled yet, but if we go from this statistic the indication is that a good team favors mobility, defense and range.
Pinaka never gets to use its shotgun and is otherwise just a worse healer. Even Stellaris will get raped by a compact team.

What's apparent in all statistics is that Alysnes, Hurricane and Narukami underperform.
Welkin is a better Alysnes and Aquila a better Narukami and (apparently) Inferno a better Hurricane

They gave welkin a shield because during alpha Welkin was laughably shit at defending against melee attacks.
Because it doesn't have a shield, any melee mech can stunlocks a Welkin, and the only form of Welkin's defense against melee attacks is the spinning move which only starts after you hold down m1 for like a full second meaning you can't reactive parry and you have to starts spinning proactively. And the worst thing is the spinning move doesn't even help in high rank matches because people will just do the jump and downward slash unparryable shit which will actually knocks you out of your spin and opens you for melee rape.

If you put a 100 hours Panther player and a 100 hours Welkin player in a room, the Panther will wins everytime, because he can just spam the downward slash into drill -> downward slash into drill -> downward slash into drill and there's nothing a Welkin player can do about it.

They wanted to fix how bad Welkin is against melee so they give him this Stego shield thing that blocks all frontal damage including melee damage. The frontal shield did make Welkin less of a joke in 1v1 melee, but they definitely give the shield way too much health (66,000) meaning it can just press 3 and tank then entire enemy team fire for 12 seconds and I agree that it's broken in the current state.

Welkin has too much utility I agree. In terms of contesting and doing objectives in a hotzone it's the #1 mech. But nerfing Welkin "because he can do objective" does not make sense because the other team also has a Welkin, so if you're nerfing Welkin you're nerfing both team's capacity of doing objective, which really doesn't benefits anyone and will only make games shitter for everyone.
And if you're a falcon on autopilot and you're just holding down m1 on the sky and a Welkin dashes up and boxed you and you die then it's purely skill issue. All these complaint about Welkin or heavy mechs meta in general weren't a thing during the 1st alpha. Things are alot more fragile back then, a single skyraider energy missile can nuke like 60% of a Tricera's HP, an a falcon can shoots a Welkin to death in 15 seconds.
Seasun changed it during 2nd alpha and gave heavies like 3x HP because they're trying to copy overwatch. I'm not a fan of this change, but this is the direction they're heading.
When a company make major changes like these they're not gonna back down no matter what you say. There may be minor nerfs to Welkin, but this whole "frontline Welkin tank meta" is gonna stay because that's exactly what Seasun is trying to do.

Even if you somehow have perfect reaction time to immediately shield the second the Panther drops (you don't), you're gonna get at least a 4 sec cd by the time the charge is over with and after two charges you're on a 20 sec CD regardless. And given how quickly it swaps from a 2s CD to 4 then 6, the only chance you'd ever have a chance of getting a 4s CD is if you just assume he's not even going to do anything after the charge is over with. Which is retarded. Because then you're gonna lose half your HP to a drop combo regardless

Starts by cancelling a downslash with the shield and then immediately afterwards activating the shield while staggered to cancel the drill combo. A competent Welkin is never taking damage from Panther's drill unless the Panther jumped him from behind. In a 1v1 situation the Panther is fucked.

the shield is cool, you can double down on single target dps with 3+M2 if you have a good melee teammate. The primary heal sucks ass though and is difficult to operate for some reason. I don't see a reason to stack walls but they can be useful when trying to secure an objective. Repair drones are decent.

I guess if you want a pure healer Lumi always wins but Pinaka has some utility. Would probably be a better pick if they fixed his M1 and reworked 2 a bit
