The 'meta' is indeed more artificial than ever before due to those game modes being far more targetted towards specific characters, but there are characters who will be a part of the 'good' teams far more frequently than others. For instance even if Furina isn't the one being shilled directly through boss selection or abyss floor blessings you can still expect her to be one of the top picks in almost every single abyss and SO lineup. Meanwhile characters like Emilie jumped to like 70% usage rate in the abyss during that one rotation where one side had the lava dragon followed by two chambers full of void barrier monsters, but in the very next rotation she was back down to like 10% since barely anyone used her
So in a sense there's still a semblance of meta even if the developers still handpick the character(s) they want to be good for a particular month.

Wriothesley shouldn’t exist. He’s the most pointless AQ “relevant” (read: not a random chef or perfumer) character. He’s the mysterious warden and leader of this scary prison state who even his best bud Neuvillette tells the MC to be wary of… except it’s actually presented as a good place for people to settle once their sentence is up and he’s super nice. HOWEVER, his SQ and all of the WQs paint a completely different picture of the prison as the desolate shithole it was presented as and shows that he’s either very incompetent or uncaring. I don’t even remember what we had to do in the prison but he had his big bad moment with Lyney and he’s immediately back to being super friendly with the MC. He’s not lighthearted or funny enough to be slotted into festivalslop but he’s not allowed to be edgy by virtue of being a playable character. You probably picked up the game before she actually came out but when Iansan was just around the corner a few months ago people insisted on trying to peddle her as a replacement for the character Bennett, but in reality she just doesn't work as well
As for the general clunk it'll probably help once you get Citlali since then you will at least have some melts to try to aim for rather than just praying you get the most mileage out of the brief buff the midget gives

Soft pity kicks in at around 73-74 where the chance of getting a five star goes from 0.6% to something like 10-20% per pull, I don't remember the exact amount
Either way it's generally not a good idea to pull unless you're fine with getting the five star (or any five star if you lose the 50/50 I guess)
I think the math says that by the time you have reached 70 pulls you'll have something like a 1/3 chance of having received a five star drop
