I think it's Endwalker's content drought combined with Dawntrail's underperforming MSQ and side content is going to get people to start speaking in extremes, and maybe they're not entirely wrong to do so. While there was negativity around Endwalker's patches like the mediocre 6.X MSQ and lack of proper foray or relics, a majority of the players still stuck around since morale was high and things were expected to get better.
I imagine goodwill ever since Dawntrail released has been tapped out, especially considering the feedback given by Yoshida after release and after 7.1 was a mix of "We hear you, we will be putting Wuk Lamat more front and center since players didn't quite understand her properly" and "The content is coming, just hang in there" only for said content to be Occult Crescent and Cosmic Exploration which have been incredibly underwhelming for this expansion's long-term grind. It's nice to finally have them acknowledge "we haven't been releasing content that's been living up to expectations" in the most recent Live Letter, but it might be too little too late.

Some will have moved on to other games and manage to bring an audience with them, but the hardcore FFXIV audience likes FFXIV and not much else so they're better off catering to the people who've left FFXIV and will remain viewers for other stuff. There aren't many who can make content about FFXIV long term without milking the ragebait and eventually giving up. MrHappy is one such example of a guy who can do it.
