I'd argue this is more of the case for how found families are portrayed here. Susie and Kris' lives are shit, but they make a new family with Ralsei. Lancer's real parental bonds are with Rouxls and Queen, who aren't related to him by blood. Tenna loses his original family but gains a new one if you give him to Mettaton. Susie gains a father figure in Gerson. On the whole, the game goes out of its way to lay it on thick that your birth family isn't the be-all-end-all.

What we can conclude from this is, chapter 5 WILL have Kris and Susie drift away/fight for reasons, and both cases WILL have Noelle as a third actor who gets between them.
The difference will be that in Normal route Susie will willingly make distance and it'll probably drive a further wedge when the Knight reveal comes, while in Wierd route Kris will be screaming internally and desperately trying to get back to Susie, with Susie instead thinking it's just a callous ditching.
