Reminder that in vanilla rimworld even if you're wearing full prestige cataphract armor, your pawn's fingers and toes are COMPLETELY unarmored and just as vulnerable as if you were a naked tribal running at enemies with your dick out.
Even vacsuits in the fucking vacuum of space do not actually protect your fingers and toes. the "vacuum protection" stat is mostly given by wearing a vac helmet (like 70%) and the vacsuit itself only gives like ~30% so you can use other armors in space as well, and vacsuits DON'T actually cover your hands, feet, fingers, or toes.....

It's not a simulation, it's more like a management game. Like The Sims with guns and small armies raiding your colony.
Honestly at first you're better off playing a few games without all the DLC, because every DLC adds a fair amount of extra complexity.
You can pick your difficulty setting, on easier difficulties the game is very forgiving.

yeah, I've definitely had playthroughs where I'd gladly pay 1600 power to never touch farming but acting like it's a "cheat" is silly when it benefits 3-5 pawn research/power flush colonies when the strongest way to play is having like 15 pawns and 5 ghouls for whom the manual labor is free but power is a constant concern

I prefer playing "tall" with a small but elite force but thats far from the optimal way to play, having more bodies is basically always better (which is why tynan throttles join events once you reach a certain size)

It's only impractical early on when there aren't that many raiders and no guarantee they'll be human. Eventually when raids get larger you'll get enough human meat to last whole months from a single raid, and raw butchered human flesh is +2-6 mood for the cannibalism precept, or +20 for pawns with the cannibal trait.

It's the only expansion alongside Biotech (Anomaly also has "content" but the complaint has always been how focused it is on it) to have actual content alongside and shit that's not directly tied to the main gimmick thing. There's a nice mishmash of random stuff (fishing, the new biomes, animals, etc) that individually aren't anything special but together are a nice assortment of random crap that add ambiance. As far as expansion gimmicks go the gravship is a pretty fun thing that opens up a lot of different avenues for runs. I don't think any rimworld dlc is ever worth the actual price but this and biotech at least get close.

Body modders and transhumanist colonies can install more before they start losing it, flesh purity cant install any.
