I was curious about the negative reviews and skimmed through many of them. I made a sum up of most of the complaints, roughly in order of prevalence (only english reviews)

How is Stellaris meant to stay on anyone? I don't know if it's because I play ~70 ping but I literally cannot latch onto people if they just want to spam dash. Like literally any character. I can do the perfect engage with 3 into a dash and then follow with a grapple, and yet they can still click shift a single time and I can't do fucking anything to chase further. The teleport move puts you above fucking nothing so you just ground slam air and then die if you click that
Also I feel like he has negative stagger so everyone can literally just walk out of his attacks or, if they're melee, immediately turn and melee clash after my first swing

I just played with the strangest mashmak player. A skyraider who just flew around, avoided players like the plauge (even when me and the other guy were fighting), and barley pve'd on top of that. He just kept flying off in his own after taking any damage to hunt down the free repair stations while I chased after him. We ended up getting a little bit of loot right at the end when an aquila just ran down a tunnel at us solo and died for free while we were waiting on the extract.

Aquila kinda reminds me of the early meta in Robocraft, which was to have a robot that was basically just a couple structural blocks, with some helium blocks on top so you would endlessly float upwards, and a Railgun mounted on the bottom to attack with.
The match would start, and you would rapidly float up to the extremely high map-ceiling in Robocraft, so high that due to how small your robot was you would be either entirely invisible or only 1 pixel big on most people's screens. Whilst your Railgun made it easy for you to snipe robots across the map from above.
Most guns in Robocraft at the time had at least some bloom to them so even if you could see and aim at the single pixel in the sky, you'd never actually hit it. The ONLY weapons that could were other Railguns, and the laser machine gun which had pixel-perfect accuracy on the first shot in each burst.
Eventually they drastically reduced how high helium blocks could float robots regardless of their weight, to specifically eliminate this strategy.
I can't imagine how much more oppressive Aquila would be if he could fly even higher up.

25 seconds to fully recover Hurricane's Field shield energy if it is fully depleted, but it can turn them back on after 5 seconds with 20% shields.
Alysnes takes about 28~ seconds to recover from having its Complex Shield depleted.
Panther's Complex shields takes 40 full seconds, but it also has the wing shields which take 25 to recover.
Tricera's forward and ass shields take 30 seconds each.
Stego's forward shield takes 20 seconds.
Meanwhile, Welkin's privileged forward shield needs 33 seconds to recover from empty, also has a 22 second hard cooldown (or as low as 4 seconds).
Welkin's Box recovers its shield instantly but also has a 20 second cooldown (or as low as 10 seconds).

Despite Welkin operating on different rules from the other shields, with what should be long bursts of unshielded downtime, it still gets to be an absurd tank. The way its shields are applied practically in a fight let it rarely have to deal with any real downtime, control the environment, and it can obviously fight for long enough that it'll get the shields back.
Hurricane's Field forces Hurricane to constantly drop and pick it up and manage the energy much more intently because it is static. But it does also have Decoy shields which are the real damage blockers, but they too are static things with an extremely small effective area, demanding Hurricane to remain in place for them to work or abandon them and place new ones.
Also, Hurricane's turrets. 100m range. For both enemies and missiles. Literally fucking nothing, the enemy has to be in melee range for them to shoot.
What Hurricane needs most is a way to better defend while on the move and not be a mech whose whole gameplan is running away and leaving a trail of spaghetti.

I find Aquila to be more annoying to deal with as Falcon than Stellaris in Mashmak because while both may ambush you, Aquila will typically do so from so afar that his advantage is now too great. You have to then get in range while dodging every shot then having enough energy to hopefully kill him. It's a lot less of an issue if you could determine if its a bot or not as it's a lot easier to deal with a player because the player will likely not hit you while you are dodging, but the bot will land every shot during your evades. The bot loses if you can be in range with full health from the start, but they have the magical power to know where you are at all times from anywhere on the map so they usually get the jump on you.
If its a player Aquilla and they got dual autobeam cannons or something then it's even more rough as he can fire them while breaking lock with his evade and maintaining a good firing angle while Falcon or Skyraider can't fire their Mashmak guns during their flying and evasion and gotta constantly position properly to have the right firing angle. I don't play Skyraider, but for Falcon it can be tough to land all your 3 rockets if the enemy knows what they're doing.

Skyraider vs Aquila is just fucked because most of your kit is useless against them since they're flying and mobile, so you're just left using your main weapon and hoping to dodge enough of their shots to kill them first. If you see a welkin closing in on the objective and for some reason you are the only one present you should get closer so you can still interrupt him when he pops the box. Risky sure, but better to buy some time than give the objective away for free.

Playing Falcon at higher ranks is such a nightmare, Stellaris in every enemy team every match, just focusing you all the time and god forbid he catches you one time with his hook because unless you have 60% of your energy to fly away by spamming dash he'll just catch you. Naru players snipe away half of your hp from other side of the map and even if you get to him, he'll just kite you by abusing his bs dash till your scanner turns off and just kill you the next second. The problem is that you need energy both for running away and attacking, because unless you're using loops and spiral to focus your dmg on one striker, you're just doing pointless flybys that target whomever and do no significant dmg overall

Stop attacking. It's that simple. 'No significant damage' is better than being fucking dead on repeat. If the enemy has the few Falcon counters, you play in a way to waste their time. They're going to commit 2 or 3 characters to consistently go after you and if you're playing defensive because you know they're hunting you, they waste their time. A 3 for 1 time waste is better than dumping your load into nothing.
You get to be the main character when the enemy is flyers and melee, that's when you get to play aggressive
