i made it to lvl 30 in mop prepatch and i'm already bored. just playing HC while waiting for pochie.

i just want to say what the fucking fuck were they thinking with the cata reworks? most of the zones you out level after 2-3 quests with no heirlooms. i was doing all quests in every zone to feel like there is some sort of semblance to a journey but even if you are on level, you just pull and facetank 10 mobs and do 1 pull per quest, the most braindead, mind numbing shit imaginable. i have not leveled thru the classic zones once in cata and i cant even get past lvl 30 its so fucking horrible.

works on my machine

After playing Niller/TBC/Wrath/Cata it's really refreshing how decent the MoP questing is. The writing is noticeably better than Cataclysm and the actual pacing of quests is way more enjoyable. I got to 87 without feeling like I was straining at all or dreading the next "10 bear asses" quest.

Literally all of Jaina’s future mess started there, with how she totally forgot how her own army invaded the Barrens on two fronts, then claimed the attack on Theramore was ‘unprovoked.’
Don’t even get me started on the 5.1 legendary quest chain, where dwarf commander whines about the Horde ‘invading and destroying his home’ (he means the dwarf keep in the Barrens—you know, the same place where they’d slaughtered at least one tauren tribe by Cataclysm).

For the Horde, the only bad storytelling was in the books—like Baine blaming his father for building a wall and saying the Alliance attacked it ‘because walls trigger them.’ Meanwhile, in-game since cata they actually showed why Vol’jin deserved to lead the Horde: he turned down the Zandalari offer, and during the bell hunt, he told them to give it to Garrosh because ‘fuck the Alliance’ (and this was after Garrosh tried assassinating him in the caves!).

Cataclysm showed the faction war way better.

To be fair I only ever played Horde back in the day so I'm not as familiar with the Alliance side of the story. I am playing Alliance this time around though.

I guess Cata's faction war was decent too, but what I like about MoP's is the aspect of seeing it from a third party perspective and how it drags a formerly peaceful land into chaos. It's a cool angle on it. I feel like in Cata it got overshadowed by the Deathwing stuff too much. Which I know was partly the point. But the war is only really present in the 1-60 revamp and then feels pretty much forgotten by endgame. Like levelling from 80-85 you'd barely know you were in a faction war outside of a couple of shoehorned quests. I like the concept of butting heads while a greater threat looms but think it could have been done a bit better. Whereas MoP is pretty much a perfect colonization / scramble-for-resources story. Or at least, as perfect as you're going to get in WoW, the bar isn't that high.
