Musical strike doesn't use that much sp in comparison to performing, which niggerdev didn't want to reduce sp cost because he's a fucking retard.
You can either choose to have a soul linker that will let the bard flash service then stay on bragi for musical strike spam, or just flash bragi and switch to DS and have the rest of the party seething because of music overlap+retarded.

For Merchant at least until you become BS or Alch, relying on Mercenaries and (cheaper) potions feels good, the fantasy of using zeny as your "power" is what makes it fun.

Once you're a BS you start to hit hard yourself, so is easier to forego Mercenaries then, or as an Alch you either become a lesser BS with battle Alch, or the Homunculus replaces the Mercenary (or works in tandem with it) and the Alch becomes a potion/plant-based support and/or pseudo spellcaster.

I wouldn't exactly call it getting carried, is more that your main resource is money and mercenaries are a good use of it for leveling, with OC it basically ends up paying itself and more.

I think this is part of the charm with RO. Different places have different requirements, and not just gear. Even something like Juperos. I remember the better mobbers could get the highest EXP/h back in the day. But you needed to be decent at the game, and it was not exactly skill you used in many other maps, at least not to the same extent.
If anything, I wish RO had more maps like that, really difficult places that force you to play or build characters a certain way. Then again, I bet people would just complain they can't stomp the new area, and bitch for it to get nerfed.

I'm trying really hard to get into CCRO, but there's just no class I'm having fun playing after making a priest, an assassin and a gunslinger. There's a few I never tried, but I don't know which ones would be fun and good for endgame activities.
Is there anything you did differently in CCRO that made you appreciate the game again or are you in the server just to mindlessly grind because you have too much free time/is too tired after work and have nothing better to do? I really would like to play with you guys, but having a hard time finding the motivation.

I am currently 90~ in CCro, around 170 cards collected, and my mercenary is outdpsing me by around 3x, that includes me using plant bottles.

If you're doing a Str build, the plants should do a lot of dmg, but you have to use Mandragora, Hydra or Flora; Parasite doesn't get a Str bonus like those do and Geo is a lot slower attacking (but it works great as a healer and the dmg is not bad).
Stack it with Archdam card and you can spam Mammonite alongside them, you can even set a Demonstration under enemies and that is also ticking dmg that builds up on strong enemies.

Or you can do an Int build with Gazeti card(s) and Elemental sword, I don't think it's that strong but it works for neutral enemies fairly nicely.

The thing with Alch is that it doesn't hit super hard, but you get to heal / sp battery yourself while being fairly tanky, and mob with the homun to deal with big group of enemies.

What is the best MVP focused GS build? Gatling with the card that lets you reach 195 ASPD?

Yeah, I was doing both str and int builds. Currently sticking with int for the convenience of infinite sp.
And yeah, sure I do feel tanky. But jesus christ, am I limited in where I can go. Most hard hitting enemies are just a currency sink. And then every so often I just see a GS walk past me while murdering everything in the area without stopping to do anything.

Well, not a very fair comparison, GS is a pure DPS class mostly gated by SP issues until they get Dimik and become a walking turret.
Alch is a support first and then a tank with a bit of damage and other utility sprinkled in, the class is meant to be played in parties and WoE; even if you do a Damage focused Alch, you won't ever be as effective as a true DPS class, you make do with being nearly unkillable and having infinite SP thanks to potion pitch.

But alch brings nothing to the table as a tank. Pot pitching? That is a stretch, since you can also just gulp banana juice on ccro as a tank.
The best I saw so far was Chemical Protection adding +3 def... on a server that has def enchants on gear. Feels a bit like a nothingburger. Or am I missing something that makes alch a better tank?

And as a support. In theorycrafting, I can't find anything meaningful I could bring to the table as alch on ccro. FCP I guess, but that is a necessity on a few bosses. And even fewer on ccro since you can just get unbreakable enchants on important pieces for the bosses that specifically break armor and shields.

Honestly, ccro devs seem to have it out for merchants. They added cards that pretty much invalidate the whole class. You get weapon repair on mid gear, your get enough healing boost on juice to ignore ranked pots, you get max oc/dc, you get multiple weight increases on every class, you get unbreakable equipment, all weapons can drop elemental. Tbh you could completely remove the merch archetype and good players would not even notice it.

Banana juice doesn't replace potion pitch, it is good, but an Alche can reach 12k heals with 1 single white potion and 400 sp heals with 1 blue potion.
FCP certainly does feel a bit extra, although stacking higher Def is always good, the higher the Def, the more each point of Def has value.
Slim Potion Pitch is great for healing the entire team for those MvPs with big AoEs / EQ way faster than priests can with Sanctuary or heal spam, Homunculus also helps at reducing EQ dmg since it's considered a target too.

It is a competent tank, good HP pool although not as good as Swordies, good defense since Merchant armors have as much Def as Swordman's, can heal itself more than a Crusader can.

As a support you are a healer and a SP battery, you help carry more items (useful in places like ET), even with the weight increases nothing compares to a Merchant carrying 11k weight on themselves + 8k weight on their cart, you can reposition faster than other supports when things go wrong (if using Lif) or distract enemies with any Homun, you can give Berserk pots to Hunters, Assa or whoever else needs it, and outside of active party you also make elemental resist potions.

Like I get where you're coming from, but Alchemist at least is a really good support / tank hybrid, BS probably has it a lot more rough though.
