I was having a think about the monetization of skins. So, this might seem either obvious or unintuitive depending on the way you think, but the seller (in this case Nexon) doesn't make any money when you buy a skin, it made that money back when you bought the Caliber. From the seller's perspective (without taking into account that they'd prefer you to be a repeat customer) you could drop dead for all they care and have that Caliber sit in your account for the rest of time, you've already made the only transaction that matters. But, as I mentioned, they probably want your repeat business, so it follows up that it's in their best interest that there are things you want to spend the Caliber on (and here we get to how converting money to a strange nonsense currency like Caliber, or Gems, or Riot Points, or Platinum, etc, etc... messes with psychology and makes you more willing to "spend" than you otherwise were), and in doing increase the likelihood that you see something you want, but simultaneously don't have enough Caliber to buy it, which you then buy, and the cycle begins anew. I'm sure there are really smart people with PhDs in Economics or Business Psychology or whatever that have written papers on the subject, but I like to think about this kind of thing on occasion.

It's good. Slam on enough singular power modifier and the wall haxing contagious fire will kill 90% of rooms, while the slam itself insta kills basically anything that survives.
Not the best nuking build since you need to press more than 2 buttons plus it falls off in VEP but it's better nuking than half the cast in the game and easily clears all mainline content. And of course the titty slam AOE has 50% more AOE than half the moids in the game, that's just a given.

The issue is that the ability it replaces is the absolute best in the game at shooting and even better at nuking, not to mention the opportunity cost of not taking hymn to buff slow ass teammates. Also, fire everywhere needs a full build to be the not best nuking build in the game whereas shoot gun build needs like 2 maybe 3 forma tops.
Also ammo boxes and explosive crates are pretty bad for it too, those stop the fire wave dead and it's really annoying.

imo avoid anything that drops as completed parts from normal mode missions, ie bunny, freyna, sharen, gley, enzo, and blair, as they're realistically the easiest to farm as a newbie. the problem is those are also the better characters available in that box lol. just go with your heart, yujin and kyle at least used to be the worst two to farm strictly speaking of amorphous rates having more 10% and lower parts than other basic descendants but idk if that's changed over the years and they are both rather niche characters.

the box isn't terribly useful, after you do most of your core farming you will have gotten a lot of descendant blueprints by accident. you can use the box to grab some that you're not close to finishing
base descendants can be useful even if you have the ultimate, for mastery gain and unlocking their base outfit
for the weapons, typically you want 5 copies of a gun to max it out and that can be really annoying for some guns with 6% only blueprints. Off the top of my head Secret Garden is one.
A lot of meta stuff either isn't available via the boxes or is really really easy to farm.

So acg the machine gun, the best one got improved even further while enduring legacy got a buff but being cucked by cores. Hand cannons got thicc dmg against weak points that is for nell, so perforator might be good now. Kgl more dmg so good for 400 and p10 for sharen. Thunder cage ability buff and attribute dmg, good for new people without malevolent. Fallen hope, blue beetle and final masterpiece got nice buffs.

This was kinda ass, not a huge shift of weapon usage, so big weapon changes are core change tuning and the only weapon who got that was Greg and that was before. At least I can use final masterpiece more since his ability dmg was ass. Probably still be ass.

You pick up Fallen Hope because you want to have a Freyna in gun form spreading and stacking poison amongst the enemy ranks. You want an enemy to explode, spread the poison, then the mooks explode from the dot, then that triggers a chain reaction that kills all contiguous groups of enemies. That's, the hope, anyway.
The problem is that a <5% chance to inflict poison, followed by a 40% chance to explode, is anything but reliable. And if you kill an enemy with the bullet or toxic, that doesn't roll status yet alone triggers the poison. This means that, paradoxically, doing more poison damage makes the gun perform worse, since it won't trigger the cascading poison.

If I want to do damage with a general rounds weapon, I'd be better served picking up literally anything else. And wouldn't you know it, every other general rounds gun it was competing with - ACG, TCage and even TFM - all got significantly greater buffs, on top of the fact they don't have to roll a roulette wheel to work in the first place.

I haven't played with Thunder Cage in ages, since I was a Newbunny, maybe it's time to pick it up again?

Also, just to compare, Divine Punishment now gives you +70% just for debuffing enemies - whether with poison or any other status - and that damage persists for 30 seconds against everything you shoot at, whether it is statused or not. On top of that, it's WP damage just increased a whole 50%.
Meanwhile, Fallen Hope now only gives up to +60% bonus. Yeah sure you don't need multiple stacks, but that venom lasts <5s against and you only get the bonus damage against the one poisoned guy not his friends. If your poison explosion doesn't trigger or that mod that spreads poison is on cooldown you are sol. Fallen Hope needed to have the numbers on literally every ability doubled atleast, not just the atk bonus.
Either that or I guess you could be Freyna or Keelan except lmao they don't even use guns.
Also Venom Essence still sucks balls, it's bonus status chance is multplicative of the base chance only so it only adds +0.5% status chance for a full set and doesn't help at all.

I have reached an epiphany with the Fallen Hope. I have figured out how to make it work.

In order to do more damage, I must do less damage.

In the place of my damage mods, I must rely on the bonus against statused targets.
And I must max weak point, so that I can choose between high damage when hitting the head of elites, or low enough damage to not instantly kill the mooks.

Now my poison explosions are actually working, every tenth mook is getting statused, and every third statused mook starts a chain reaction. I've now gone from seeing explosions maybe twice a dungeon to multiple times a room.
