His fundamental understanding is pretty bad. He's not aware of reversals it seems, can't do special cancels on how own, and doesn't have an oki game or how to apply pressure in general. And punishes big unsafe moves with throws despite having an auto combo on hand. DI & reacting to DI is doing a lot of work for him in all honesty.

And he also plays Guile pretty incorrectly too, like he's not aware of Guile's non charge AAs so he plays the character almost completely stationary. He also doesn't understand how to use sonicblade in fireball wars or the recovery advantage of booms so he ends up doing only fast boom which prevents him from leveraging the light version quicker recovery for traps with flashkick or setting up his own offense by moving behind it since its slow traveling.

There is just so much wrong with his Guile so the fact that he's gone this far is a real testament to how bad diamond players are in this game.

I think the problem with some permabegs here is that they're not used to winning. If they are dealing too much damage to the opponent they might be thinking "What's going on? Why are all my hits landing?" and subconsciously hold back to give the other player time to get their bearings. And when they're overwhelmed they think "yup, nothing I can do". If you play only with the goal of winning, you won't be happy and you won't get better. Look at brianF, he boiled the game down to a science and grinded and he still loses to smashers and niggas that can't type in proper sentences.

I can't be excited for any new characters if the game plays nearly identical across the roster due to the core system mechanics.
It just becomes an avatar to do poke into DR into either strike/throw mix if blocked or just a boring ass DR loop into Lv3.

The real problem is that most buttons in the game are not drive cancellable
they did not separate drive impact cancelling from special cancelling. so you cant press a far HK as a poke and cancel into drive impact if they drive impact.

not entirely as it would still work against most specials and other situations. but more importantly a huge part of the neutral game would be restored by players being able to whiff punish with big buttons more reliably.
Right now it is a massive risk to press anything that is not drive cancellable in this game.
You do a DP in neutral? punish counter
You press a long range poke? drive impact
the rewards from these interactions are also insanely low compared to cancellable buttons. Why on earth would I risk 50% of my life pressing far HK when I could just play with a faster button that has less range can't be drive impacted for free, and leads into the most damaging combos in the game.

The entire neutral game boils down into cancellable buttons. drive rushed or not, its the same solution.
Every special in the game is such a massive risk to throw out because of random drive impact, and you don't even get a big reward from specials in neutral. Instead of doing other neutral tools 50% of the time now you do them 15% maybe? why take the risk for such a tiny reward when you have tiny risk moves that have the biggest reward.
It's a very idiotic way of designing a game.
